Ginzu I love your sig! Pulp Fiction is one of the best movies ever!

Hehehe tnx, i love that movie. one of the best parts is the story of the watch when he is a lil kid. Christopher Walken was perfect for that part
:D

Does anyone have a dual exhaust on thier eclipse? I'm a balanced sort of person, and I hate the single side exhaust look, too uneven for me. I was thinking about having a "Y" pipe welded after the high flow cat, and then having it split to two currently undecided typ mufflers. Yes it will cost more, but it looks much better to me, and certainly will help flow at least a tiny bit. Mostly just for the look. If anyone's done this or knows of someone....plz post a pic!! Thanx

a little photoshop work.

i used to have a pic of the back but i can't find it now. i think it was in an older super street at one point as well. so those of you who have a few old ones might want to check through them.

its funny you asked, the old pics of that car on proven's site showed that car having duals:cool:

wow, Mavisky, that looks pretty nice. I might go 2.5 though with polished ss or chrome tips. I should about qud tips (1 pair per side), Like my old GTP had, but that just wouldn't look right on a Japanese compact.... but who knows. Anyone real good with photoshop?

IMO the dual exause isn't going to help you. Your not going to have enough back pressure. My friend had tried putting a dual exaust on his 98 Z24, and it sucked there was to much flow and no back pressure. So stick with the single exaust.

There is a large difference between your friends Z24 and a Turbo car. For example I can take my exhaust off my car, back pressure is not an issue. You could run 4 pipes out the back if you want to, it's all a matter of looks and sound. I have run an open downpipe before its violently loud, if it wasnt so loud I would leave it like that. Later Corey

ps- if you don't belive me I'm sorry but my suggestion is to do some research before you contradict my statement, I am basing it off of reading many posts on various websites on back pressure on turbo cars.
Also I have tried it myself.

How could a dual set up benifit you any more then a 3 inch on our cars? The split would add tubulence and allow for the exhaust gasses to cool too much, and therefore not allowing them to escape as quickly. I understand the need for a lack of backpressure, but that much piping is unecessary besides the fact that it would look good.

Well put, I by the way wasnt endorsing dual exhaust, just mentioning the back pressure issue. I think even at 500hp a true 3" system is plenty of flow..Corey

Wow, this went way too much into performance. I did mention it would be mostly, if not entirely for looks. I was thinking a 2.5 dp, 2.5 high flow cat, and then the split to two 2.5 pipes then to the two mufflers. This wouldn't kill backpressure much more than a 3", it doesn't even flow anymore than a regular 2.5 high flow system untill the split. But again... mostly for looks. I'm sure it will help performance a little, but that's not my main concern. although it does add a little extra wight.

Dual Exhaust will not help performance at all and would basically be waste of money.. they only help w/ the bigger engines i.e. V8 and some V6's..

Looks like no one reads initial question anymore

I've seen one 1G laser here with dual exhaust (and dual tip mufflers)
I looks very sweet. Sounds very nice too. He had tips bent upwards like this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1868874378

(same muffler I got as well) It looked better then straight tip would look IMO, because it 'blends' bumper with exhaust, which otherwise would look like short skirt with unshaved legs under it ;).
That was a laser though, and they don't have muffler cut-outs in bumpers. Talon would be different since it has muffler notch.

how bout a Ypipe that exits out of 2 stock gsx muflers?

........| |
........| | <---- 3" downpipe

...oo.......oo <--- 2 stock gsx mufflers

just a thought:confused:

dont mind the ...... i just use them for to hold the stuff

I've got a pic of a custom dual exhaust on a 1g right here:
http://www.machv.com/jarear90tsif.html
That one looks pretty sweet. The thing is, I've looked under the rear end of my car and I don't know how he got the piping to fit on the other side of the car.

I think come cars look good with center exit exhaust, especially if you used one of those mufflers that comes in as one pipe then splits to two smaller N1 style mufflers. Almost every ad in the import magazines has them, but I think center exit with one is the only way to go with them.

I personally don't like center exhaust, but that's just me...what I like is sidpipes, that's what my talon needs....either that, or side exhaust near the front wheel, hmmm.

Also the whole argument about losing backpressure...you don't want backpressure in a turbo car. NA maybe a little (digression: backpressure is bad, exhaust velocity is good. By oversizing the exhaust, particularly on a NA car, you are allowing the exhaust too much room to slow down and become turbulent. By keeping the velocity of the exhuast up, you decrease turbulence and increase flow. Turbos will push the gasses out and will compensate for the larger exhaust by creating more exhaust via the turbo [if you let it]. Contrary to popular belief turbo exhausts can be too large, but unless you are going with 4" piping on a stock turbo, I wouldn't worry too much)

Also 'Maximum Boost' by Corky Bell is a great book for anyone who owns a turbo and wants to modify anything related to it.

i agree with DSMJIM, single exhaust looks bad ass too, why go to dual exhaust when it wont help u at all?

Can a dual exhaust system be run on a Elcipse/Talon? Would FWD/AWD play a difference? Something like the exhaust systems 300ZX have, coming out on both sides of the back.
