Dual exhaust [Merged 7-9]

i've been playing around with the idea of turboing my car. I also had the idea of installing my own custom dual exhaust that would be assembled by me. I haven't heard of or seen anybody with dual exhaust on a DSM i think im going to do it because it will look good and hey, maybe it will ad some hp. none of my friends think it'll look good though..... So any opinions on this ?

It'll look cool but you will lose power. Your engine is an inline 4, which won't adapt to duel setups. In fact you'd be better off keeping your stock exhaust or just hanging a fake one up there just for looks. If you had an engine with a V-confuguration, it'd be different but oh well.
Good luck.:thumb:

I think im going to do this mod, or ummm, de-mod, just to be different. After all, my car (200+hp) after the turbo project is done, can't be much slower than the 92 horses powering it now

well, im going to make my own manifold, im gonna use a 16g, or T-28 turbo, 1g BOV and new exhaust for starters. id list everything i need or think i need but id bee typing for quite a long time....you get the idea, at least. Its gonna be a long project , and its all going to come after I rebuild my engine:laser:

oh yeah, how much power do you think i would lose with dual exhaust?

well......I guess i can live with that. I would eventually like my car to look good, and I think dual looks better. Are you gonna go turbo wit your car?

No. I was all set on turboing it awhile back but after learning about the 420a with it's high compression, weak internals, & low rev range I decided not to. Too big of a project for me to take on. I'm just going to do little stuff over the next two years like 4-2-1 header, cheap intake I make myself, maybe pull the cat out...ya know, just make it sound good without costing me a fortune. Then when she's paid off I'm gonna trade her in on a WS6 Ram-air Firebird. That's been my dream car ever since the design upgrade in 98'. :D

a girl in my area has a black eclipse with the Qhuwees (sp?) wide body kit and dual exhausts. it sounds pretty dang good too...

also she is just orderd a tubro kit last night too.

dual exhaust is more for looks but if you want to , do it

im not tryin to be a smart a$$ but perhaps there was a header on the car and the four were split two and two, that could be true dual exhaust...?? again im not trying to be a smart a$$

If there is a header on a turbo car it would go from the head to the turbo. The exhaust on a turbo car comes from the single outlet on the O2 housing.

Up to you whether to keep it or toss it. Is it connected? Does it look ###? It wont add any power but it probably wont rob you of any either unless its a total hack job. All its doing is adding wieght.

is it like a y pipe where it spilts into 2 towards the end of the car? theres no need for for 2 muffles on a 4 cyclinder. I'd dump it, but it's your car if you think it looks cool by all means keep it.

I got duel exhausts, i had never seen it on a dsm til i did it, myself, it looks cool but i will take it off in a few months, only because te exhausts i got on there now suck, and my car has been in the bodyshop for over a month due to an accident and the insurance company didnt want to give up any money, long story short, i am getting a few more grand then what they had told me in the first place, yaay for me! Anyways, i have a y pipe s its not like it is completely non functional, but soon, i will get a tanabe or hks exhaust system, get one full exhaust system and get a unversa one, but stillhave the 2.5-3" piping to go with it. I say do it, it looks pretty unique if you ask me. The body kit i plan on getting has a port for another exhaust, so i will do it.

wow, truly a n0ob post. dual exhaust is a wa$te of money so dont get it. twin turbo on our cars is ghey too.

no no no no no and .... no... serves no real purpose. unless you have the money to blow on it and nothing else, and want to look different or something... or a blitz kit... or another kit that has a spot for dual exhaust... shoulda left it stock anyway :|

you shouldnt lose any HP from a dual exhaust set up, just use a single muffler in the middle somewhere and split the pipes afterward, you would'nt have huge coffe can canisters sitting ont he end of your tailpipe, but....

yeah I've seen that on mustangs before

Actualy, now that I think of it, doing that or something like that would be the best idea. You could probably actualy have a good flowing exhuast if you do it right. Get a 3" down pipe and you could have it split off before or after the cat, and just make someone that looks like mufflers if you want to. Since maine doesn't have emmission laws...
