Dual exhaust [Merged 7-9]

This site may earn a commission from merchant affiliate links, including eBay, Amazon, and others.

If the guy wanted everyone's opinion on the matter, he would have stated that in the begining. Moving along though......you'll have to find a shop to fab up a dual catback system. Dan Cokic of Pruven Performance (here's his car ) has a custom dual catback on his car. Ricey, you decide. Fast, yeah, you could say it moves:thumb:

fo sheezy dawg. dual tips would be the bigggy bomb! oh man and that pacesetter stuff. high quality bro! never heard of it falling apart. ever!

If you want dual exhaust get an external dump.

Seriously though mustangs have dual exhaust because they've got 8 cylinders. One exhuast for every 4. Performance wise it won't help. If you just want it for looks a muffler shop can do it. If your asking if a company sells them, I've never seen it any where.

I know that v engins have it...I work for ford!!!! I know that two 2.5 from about 2ft after the cat will flow alot better than 3in at that point. It will help performance just no enough to be worth it...plus it is more for sound and looks(not rice) no coffe cans either pace setter is what Im using. And for what I want it will make it worth it.

for all you guys thanks for whoring up the thread I started...all I asked was a simple question I didnt need your mindless talk. I was only asking if anyone knew where I could find one, which I now know that I should just do a custom install at work. Its people like you that make this site not worth it, and make me want to sell my dsm and go back to hot rods.

it would be best to not post this in the engine performance forum, rather, post it in the non-performance forum, as with dual exhaust on a DSM, there are no performance gains.

the only benefit it would offer aside from the dual exhaust look would be noise suppression for a LOUD 4 banger making ungodly power. I personally think a DSM, or any I4 with dual exhaust looks ALRIGHT, as long as you do not have two 6" grapefruit shooters protruding from the underside of your Blitz kit. the SRT-4 has the right idea with dual exhaust, very clean

exactly what UI want...thats what my exhaust looks like now except with only one tip.

Pace setter isnt the best of quality but when your a college student and your exhaust is leaking like crazy and sounds like crap, well then pace setter doesnt sound all that bad. I got great gains and great low sleeper like sound out of it, plus I de-badgeed it so my car looks like a gs with a shiny chrome tip. Gooberlog I didnt mind your opinion...granted I didnt ask for that kind of opinion, but It wasnt you that "whopred up the thread. Oh well I dont care anymore.

I am not going for riced up lighted exhaust, but I am looking for two 3in tips(twice what I have now) with oval mufflers(again what I have now). I am kinda anti rice...the #1 reason why I bought a half breed car and not a full fledged rice rocket.

Gooberlog.. Gopherhog...

What about the Toyota MR2 Turbo? or the new Dodge Neon SRT-4? Both 4 bangers with dual exhaust. And hell, they came stock.

I know a single 3" mandrel bent flows more than 95% will ever need, but i just had to throw that out there.

if u just want the look just get a dual out muffler after your cat and have it go out the end of your car in two tips. just pick the tips you like. its the simplest and cheapest way to go. i did this when i had a 3000gt and it worked out great

Well if you look at the exhaust it goes straight up until right before the back tires it turns twards the drivers side. Well I was thinking putting a custom pipe connected to an axel back muffler. thats a great Idea abrxy3 Ididnt even think of that.

i too considered the dual exhaust thing long ago... but with the 1g, there isn't enough room to have 2 mufflers, so i would look like a grand am gt with just a pipe going to the other side, it would've been especially yucky because the pipe would probably have to go behind the fuel tank :barf:
not sure about the 2g though... you might be able to run a pipe before the tank and put a second muffler in there if yours are small enough. i'd like to see pics posted if it works out alright for you

Start with dual exhaust and you'll rice your way to something like that. Sorry, I just had to post that pic, saw it on beaterz.com a while ago and was just reminded.

See, this is why I love the DSM community. Ask a simple question and get flamed becasue it's not popular. Want to try and be differant, you need to buy a differant car, because if it isn't in the VFAQ or the tuning guide, than it's not worth doing

If you want duel exhaust do it. I plan on getting it done myself. It'll be for cosmetics, I hate the look of the 4" tips on most exhaust systems for the car. So I'm going to run 3" piping from the cat the the axel, then split the piping using 2.5" to both mufflers. It won't hurt the flow of the exhaust, and will look cleaner and closer to "factory" work than a grapefruit shooter sticking out the back.

DSMeclipe...To answer the first question you asked, you won't be able to find it. You'll have to have it custom done at an exhaust shop. I've gotten quotes from local shops for the cat-back that ranged from 250-500...and those didn't include the mufflers. Your best bet is to call around to local shops and tell them what you have in mind, they won't flame you. Later

I was wondering when we'd get to see pics of your second vehicle...nice work:rolleyes:

1: Why will a dual exhaust sound "twice as nice"?

2: If you don't like the look of the 4 inch tips, then don't put on on your car. Both of the exhaust I have had on my car exited with a single 2.5 and 3 inch (pipe) tip.

The fact of the matter here is, you're just spending money where it won't help you at all. If you really want to, go for it. You'll have to get it custom made.

Stop whining about it, you should expect this from us. That's why we're here. If you want it, then just shut it and get one. You post it in a public place, you will get public opinion.

It was friendly sarcasm. In theory it would seem like a good idea and would promote more flow, but in all reality, just a 3" cat-back exhaust would work as well as you could ever need an exhaust to flow on pretty much any sort of set up under a completely drag set-up, which then side pipes would work even better :D . I personally would rather see another side piped setup on a DSM than a dual exhaust on there, I think I remember seeing at least 1 or 2 DSM's with side pipes on a completely drag setup, but I'm not sure. I'll be sure to post the pics on here if I can find them again. I'm sure you realized I was joking when I posted the pic of the Ford; I assumed we had more common sense than that, but I guess we all can't take a joke

oh no i knew you were joking, actually i thought taht was funny haha.. i saw this one pic of a old honda accord i think, that had the middle of the bumper cut off and a HUGE like 1ft+ exhaust tip in the middle.. it was so ###..

let me see some pics with side exiting exhaust.. that looks killer!

its not a matter of rice....if dual exhaust was rice then stangs are rice as well. I know it doesnt serve much purpose, but I am an old school hot rodder and I just feel naked without dual exhaust. Plus I love the sound of my pace setter cat back and two would be twice as nice. I was thinking 3 in turbo back with 2.5 pace setter dual out the back(I figure that two 2.5in pipes will flow as much if not more than 3in. I dont drive rice I drive a dsm(but I do see what your saying)

Well whatever you do, some friendly advice. Dont get a pacesetter exhaust LOL.

Im not even sure they make pacesetters for these cars, which is a good thing.
