DSMpartout 1g : 10.6 @ 128 auto swapped

What are the specs on the tires? Have any clearance issues at all? And Badass car man!

The Hoosiers are 26" x 9.5" x 16". I have GC coilover sleeves so that makes fitting for clearance easy (but I haven't really had to do it). The only spot they rub on my 1g is the inner frame on the front drivers side right behind where my fuel cell is. The tire will rub the frame at full steering lock.

Nice work on making the switch Nate. You have any more parts to make another conversion?

Thanks, the swap was relatively painless other than the two odd parts my parts-car was missing: The crankshaft bushing that centers the converter and the rear engine mount bracket. apparently the car I bought as a "complete automatic car" had an engine swap at some point where they used an engine from a stick car and didn't swap the rear bracket (and just ground down the flywheel dowel...HACK)

Im always looking for more parts car, that is my business afterall. BUT I have to be honest and say that the next full automatic driveline that I come across might end up in my GVR4 after seeing how well this worked out on the 1g.:sneaky:

Because it's better, as long as you don't mind the $495 price tag. That being said, three of my 1Gs run ds-map... =)

Trust me, I was a big supporter of DS-Map and still am. If I wasn't running a nitrous dependant combo, I'd likely still be running it.

One factor that allowed me to stomach the higher cost of DSMlink was that I could use the same ecu/chip in both of my cars since the GVR4 is a daily driver and the 1G was a trailer car and there wouldn't be any situation where I'd need both cars to run at the same time. Actually put a GVR4 ecu mount bracket in the talon so the ecu can be swapped between cars with one nut and the three plugs. At least this way I feel like Im getting the most bang for the buck out of the expensive chip.:thumb:

Wow nice job Nate, you weren't messing around, you got this swap done quick! It's so tempting to swap over to an automagic I'm getting tired of breaking these 5 speeds..

Phil...bottle pressure is proportional to flow. I could make the same power with 600psi of bottle pressure as I can with 900 or 1000. It just takes a larger jet size. All that matter is what the mass flow of nitrous is. Kinda the same way you can run 20psi on a 14b or 16psi on a 20g and come out with the same airflow number. It's very simple fluid dymanics math on the jetting/bottle pressure. (granted, I just use an online calculator because I'm far to long out of engineering school to do it by hand)

I gotcha.....cool......thanks for the explanation:thumb:

Good job nate!!! Although i think that the stock converter may be on its way out if you can stall it that high.

Ive been wanting an automatic for a while and finally found a BONE stock 91 awd auto for a whopping 500 bucks!!! All that it needs is a TCU which i bought one from a fellow member here on the boards. Its also eprom as well so cant wait to get it going.

Tons of loose ends, missing an auto specific engine mount bracket (Thanks muggus!),

I noticed that the front motor mount (the part with the rubber piece in it) seems to be different as well on an auto car. Am I correct in saying that the rear engine bracket that bolts to the motor is different on the auto but the motor mount that bolts to the sub frame is the same as a 5 speed?

Both the front and rear brackets are different between the auto and 5-speed. The mounts themselves are the same (other than the trans mount of course).

The below is from a member on the ECMLink forums:

"Front Roll mount bracket
#345 NT 5spd and auto trans
turbo cars
#346 FWD 5 spd
#347 AWD 5 spd
#595 FWD Auto
#506 AWD Auto

Rear roll mount bracket- these have an A and B after the number on some - ignore the letters

#193 - NT 5spd and auto
turbo cars
#194 FWD 5 spd
#195 AWD 5 spd
#648 FWD Auto
#793 AWD Auto"

Well, Im using #346 front and #194 rear brackets and it fits just fine and everything lines up nicely with prothane inserts. The engine is about 1 to 2" more "forward" than with 347/195 manual awd brackets. The trans and Tbelt sides line up fine.
