I personally am looking to do some weight reduction while retaining the quiet/smooth ride, and still having a spare so I can go on the highway without getting flatbedded home.

heres some of my ideas, just normal of course.

CF hood
Ditch all of my stereo and just get upgraded 6x9, 5.25, and 3.5's hooked to the factory amp/deck.
CF Hatch<<<Anyone make one for us?
CF Spoiler<<Anyone make it?
Dimple Drilled/Slotted Rotors

What else is there? I dont wanna tear out all the sound deadening or the spare tire.

The next thing that I need to do is mount my 8 gal fuel cell.. already took out the stock one and the lines going to it. Cutting some of the medal out should take a few more puonds off :)

i removed my dash and everything just if you want to lose about 300 lbs you have to remove the back seats and the carpet and sound deadining stuff and speakers

If that is your daily driving car, don't take the crash bar out... that thing is your only safty feuture left.
think about it.

Located under your front bumber and rear bumper...not really recomended if you daily drive your car, to remove them.:thumb:

I really dont wana daily a car like mine.

but I wanna keep my power windows and locks. other then that everythings gotta go.

I wanna make my car weigh about 2500-2600.. anyone think it is atainable?

I wanna lose around 500lbs. I am about 100 lbs or so of that goal.

front crash bar
rear crash bar
a/c and everything that has to do with it
passenger seat
rear seat
spar tire and jack
power steering and components
stock fans replaced with slim fans in front of radiator
rear seat belt's and all the brackets
gas tank (replaced by fuel cell)
sound deadning in the rear
stock fuel lines
headliner... (was falling off so took it out)
all solenoids under the hood
bracket from block to intake manifold
rear speakers
front deck (some assholes broke into my car and took it) and they killed my window :'(
rear wiper motor, wiper and the lines
all washer reservoirs and motors
fog lights
cruise control.. (custom throttle cable)
fadinza aluminum flywheel
charcoal canister and all emissions (includes egr block off and fiav delete)
battery bracket (battery sits on sub frame)
balance shafts removed

If you know of any other things to take out let me know, cause i wanna go lightweight..
I might have missed a few things but for the most part thats all of it.
Online

I wanna know what you did you lose weight. PICS PLEASE

Just wanna add a few more things Ive taken out of the car..

glove box
carpet
front speakers
sound deadning.. Just started.. really not that hard.

I got a little bit crazy, about the only thing I have left is the sound deadening. That and replacing things with the lightweight versions, like carbon fiber panels and lexan. That is obvioulsy an unfinished pic, it will have an aluminum skin here in a bit.

Post #524; How much weight did this remove?

Upgraded steering wheel

Carbon Fiber or Fiberglass Bumpers
Remove Side skirts (carbon fiber)
Carpet and Sound Deadening Material

That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

If you don't like carbon fiber I am pretty sure it can be painted.

All of these are different ways to strip your car. Use common sense as to what you can do an accomplish. Either in building a race car, or as much as you can live with in your daily driver. I've done some of these things, as much as I could live with and my GSX is 2740lbs empty.

Fell free to add to the list, and let's help each other out.

Next to the list is the rest of the sound deadning and my abs!!!

Maybe ill take out the dash, but still thinking If I want to.

Hey huys,
So is cold here in toronto, I have touch the car only to take parts off to sell them.
Anyways in this time I have been stacking parts and thinking of ways to improved aero.
I have it all planned out for when it gets warmer, now I have been thinking on how to add ligthness to the formula.

I was thinking on triming parts but of course without endangering the structure, I will start on triming the inside of the doors while keeping the plastic panel on and probably do the same with the back panels.

I would like to get some feed back on what are the parts that could be trim on a 2G, who of you have done it and pics on what was the turn out would help.

Thanks for your input.

Not to be a dick.... but use the search button. Under the search criteria of "weight reduction" you'll find a TON of answers to this question. I'll link to a couple of the most helpful:

No offence taken, I thought this would of be a more indept topic, ratter than your average AC or seat removal.
It's cool, I will post results of my findings when I get to them.

Dash is gone, blower motor and everything that has to do with it.

All of the wires that are not being used are gone too.

electric seatbelts, gone. ...

Not to be a DICK, but I think he may have searched. Not to mention... this IS the Weight Reduction thread. So0o0o0o I think its time you go for a drive or take a bubble bath. BUT you should def. ATTEMPT to read atleast SOME of the thread next time. There are plenty of ways to shave weight in this thread for 1g's and 2g's.

Search THEN Read :aha:

So far I have only done the following:

Removed Spare tire and Jack
Added aftermarket rims
Removed Front & Back bumper supports. (the bumpers are for SUPPORT, they aren't going to save your life)
In the future: A/C removal, ABS removal and CF hood

i noticed when i have 2 or 3 passengers (each weighing around 140lbs or so ) my car (91 talon nt 5speed) feels like it loses hp. or when i bring an extra tool box or other things. is this normal? is there anything i can do to lightn up the talon easily and clean?
