so last night I bought a hx35 I had planned on getting an hx40 but found a 35 by my work for 240.00 and seemed to good to pass up. I had planned to go to the bep housing because I have a 2g manifold on my car right now, however I forgot when I bought the 2g manifold that I got a tubular manifold checked it out and it will fit perfectly. I was quite excited to say the least now I can use the stock hx 35 housing thats twin scroll from what I have read. My question is which I am going to reread the hx35 oiling thread, what size lines do I need. and where would I get the o2 housing for it by chance? also it has the o2 plate on it with the ring think it would be a vband style that goes on it if I am not mistaken. all that is left of the waste gate is a flapper, can I remove that and run an external waste gate like a tial 38 mm?

thanks for the help picutres included.

The size hoses is in the oiling thread. I believe the one extreme psi sells is to small. I think -12 is fine. The feed would be -4. The feed would be from the ofh. As far as the exhaust, if it's the vband, you will have to make our own exhaust if you go with the bolt on housing them use our stock o2.

The o2 housing is going to be a custom/home made piece as no one makes one, and it's almost impossible tomake one and say it will bolt to any given down pipe due to the many varieties of turbine housings that come on the holset turbos, there's just too many options for some one to make a product and be able to say it would fit even "most" holset installs.

The oiling is covered in the holset threads as well as a detailed walk through of what i went through (in my hgolset install thread in this section)with mine from having too much pressure to getting it dialed in better for both the engine and turbo's needs. NO one can tell you what exactly to use here either as our engines and outputted oil pressures vary too widely for a "once size fits all" restricted oil line to be able to be marketed just like on the o2 housings. but making the lines and testing pressures is simple stuff any one competent with a wrench can do if they just apply some thought and carefull procedure to doing it (same for checking the oil pressures at their variouse sources and seeing where they are in relation to what the holset's needs are)

These factors above are too wide of variables for these turbos to be considered "bolt on" even with a BEP housing. But if you take the time to check and modify the things needed to run one (again all simple things, just have to actually do some work and make a judgement call on your own about them and what to do if anything before using the said oil supply or drains you've chosen or have available)

I'm not trying to sound vague but these are the reasons there's no 02 housings or "holset install kits" on the market, since we scavenge them from junkyards and variouse models, years and trim packages of trucks we don't have "standardized" measurements or fittings for either and the oil drain depends on the oil feed and the oil feed is dictated by your engine build (as well as what to do about the oil feed will vary by one persons car to the next)

but, at least tons of us have posted info to help others get it right easier so search and read up for a while until you feel confident about putting everything togehter

I will continue to read the oil feed thread then, and try to find a thread on making an o2 housing any tips for constucting one? also to do with the flapper is it possible to remove it with no issues as long as I run an external waste gate. I'm not rushing to get this on as its going on the motor I am building currently.

YOu need to weld the flapper shut for use with an external gate.. the o2 housins is as simple as getting a 90* bend of pipe, a v-band flange and a flange to match your down pipe and cutting and welding them to fit the turbo to the DP by going from one to the other.

awesome, sounds like a job for the guy at my work that welded my iat sensor in for me. once I get the motor setup I will check for clearance and see what I have to work with to get the parts together for the o2 housing.

thanks for the help

no problem, answerted your PM as well best of lucK!!

FYI, you won't be running the setup in true twin scroll form. Your manifold is an open T3 and not a divided T3.

Nice pick up though! :thumb:

thanks. going to have to do a search on a divided t3 manifolds... :ohdamn:

ic, because all 4 of the tubes come into an opening at the end instead of two seperate opening, hence the divided part LOL. so would that be counter productive then since its a twinscroll exhaust housing?

You will probably get what you pay for in manifolds. The cheap eBay ones will crack easy. And most tubulars put out a bunch of heat but you can always get it coated. But I would fork out the money and get a good manifold. I paid 750 for mine from redjack racing.

yea not even sure what this one is def assuming ebay, as I paid the guy 50 for this and a 2g manifold. theres a guy here in indy that does custom ones. his work looks phenominal but also cost alot goes back to getting what you pay for though.

you won't hurt anyhting running the divided housing with your current manifold. A divided housing flows alittle less than an open housing though, so you are giving up a little flow and not getting the faster spool of a divided manifold. FYI not only do the runners need to be divided, but specifically your manifold builder needs to pair up 1/4 and 2/3

I see I will probaby run the ebay one for awhile as I am on a stock trans and the quicker it spools the more torque its going to be putting down, don't have the money for a shep yet probably won't until tax time next yr LOL. so in the mean time, work with what I have and know that theres more potential to be released.

it would appear a manifold is going to have to be in order. the one I planned to use isn't going to fit took my unrepairable head and unuseable block and measured it all up its hitting the block with no water pipe so time to do some searching

Hopefully I can get a answer to this question here not even sure how i would word this in a new thread for the title. I have an evo 8 manifold down stairs that is twin scroll. however the flange on it isn't t3 as most of us probably know, could I get an adapter plate and run that with the hx 35, would save me money and if it can clear the block even better. I know it won't be a true twin scroll set up still but at this point I am trying to find a way to stay away from spending 800 on a manifold. I am sure we can all relate for the most part.

thanks
Josh
