So, i recently purchased a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS and i want to learn how to build my own engine for it. My plan if possible is to build a 420A 2.4L 16V Engine + Twin Turbo! Which i call "420A-TT". My family friend who has owned many eclipses including VR4's, RS's, GSX's. Said that i couldn't install a 4G63 Engine in my GS. It wouldn't be compatible with the engine bay. So, Could you guys lead me in the right direction. I do plan on running a 75HP Nitrous Oxide in my ride. So i can't be using cheap Pistons, Block, Etc!

Could you guys lead me in the right direction. So i can order what i need. Thank you!

The only form of supercharger I see working on a 420a is a Procharger. Being driven by the accessory belts instead of the timing belt. But even that would require a major amount of modification. Easiest way to add power would be to buy a turbo exhaust manifold and run a single turbo.

Do an evo 4g63 swap. That fits.
Yes it fits, but it's not a direct swap. There's a few videos on YouTube about how to do it. You still have to cut and reweld the engine mounts and then run aftermarket wiring.

Based on the type of questions you are asking (No offence) You should be looking at the basic mod path and learning more about engines and the performance limitations and typical build modifications people do to each and why. 4G63. 420a, edz, etc.. I also Like 2jz, rb's Ej's as well.

I understand horsepower and other performance advancement sounds desirable however, these things are not easily attainable. It takes money, knowledge and experience to understand how to properly build a car. I've done it a bunch of times and it's still challenging every time. As a student of the automotive game myself, I wouldn't dare dissuade you from chasing your dreams however, I would caution you from experience... Take baby steps, it's best to learn to walk before you run. Unless you have a lot of money (Doubt you would be here), and a guided hand to get the build you are looking for it can be extremely difficult to build the ideal setup we all have in mind. Maintenance, basic suspension, braking and tuning should be on your list well before you get into Twin turbos and n20.

My 02 as an old geezer
Good luck

I don't know why people suggest evo motor. It isn't bolt in. You still have to cut mounts and redo every single system. To me thats just a motor swap and carries the same complexity as any swap. The only difference to dsm 4g63 is that it keeps the motor on the passenger side. Who cares since you still have to fab everything. I don't see the advantage. Both swaps seem to be equally difficult.

I thought Miguel kept the p/s engine mount bracket on the body and flipped the mount or something like that. I could be wrong but that’s what I recall.
OP it’s just easier to find a turbo model imo. They are getting harder to find of course but they do pop up here and there.
