2G Blinkers work only when triggered by Emergency 🚨 Lights

Yeah so I’ve had this issue only about 15+ years now.

My blinkers don’t work
My emergency lights work

If i engage both at the same time it then triggers something and then the blinkers will continue to work.

If i unplug the battery
The problem resets itself

And I have to dual engage again to get the blinkers to work again.

Any advice is greatly appreciated

Cuz I’m about to make a controller and bypass the car entirely if I can’t figure this one out.

As I understood that the hazard lights work but the blinkers don't work and the blinkers work in some circumstances. If so, the first thing I would check is the hazard switch malfunction, instable/bad contact related to the hazard switch.

My apologies I failed to mention this.
Since it’s been going on for about 15yrs, I have collected many modules;
the black box
And it happens with any of them.

I’m very likely wrong: but it looks like a m555 type IC oscillator some bjt’s , maybe relays and inductors

I’m wondering how the circuit plays with my issue of there being a need for a trigger.

It’s possible it’s the wiring from the lever
I also have replaced the lever in the past as a check and it does it the same.

Could anyone verify which of these, is the correct diagram for the 2G.

I’m seeing different diagrams for the same car from the chiltons manual.

I have to re-draw the correct diagram In simpler form to understand car manual diagrams, I really struggle to read them, it’s not like basic circuit representations in engineering courses.

It must be the first diagram, since I count 10 pins on the module and in that image there’s 10 leads out of the module

Looking at the first image, the blinker lever has 3 leads one ground and 2 connects to the hazard button on dash

But the diagram doesn’t show that the blinkers have their own dedicated power source and fuse dependent on the ignition switch?!!

I would follow along with Hiroshi and the FSM and test the hazard switch.

Strangely the only part that makes sense to me at a quick glance is the inner diagram of the module - noticed the Darlington pair right away.



I will go over this carefully to get a better idea

That's a good idea. The squiggle means there is more unshown and when you look closer you'll notice that it's two transistors not in a Darlington configuration, instead each is driving a relay coil controlled by some logic not shown.

Yes sir you are correct
I did not notice the squiggle on the first bjt base.
