hi, i wona upgrade my turbo on the gsx, and there is so many choices dont know which one to buy, so i asking you pepz wich turbo is best for under 1k for street/strip setup thanks,

i have a 2g and i was wondering what turbo would be best on my car with the mods that i have so far and will have....

i have:
greddy fmic
ss tubular exhaust manifold
o2 housing and full exhaust
intake..... and all the rest little things.. boost controller and stuff..

i will be getting 660's and a 255LPH pump and the SAFC, fuel rail and afpr

i was thinking of going with a 20g but if anyone has any comments to what i should go with that would be great....

It all depends what you want to do with the car. You will need a clutch very soon. I really like the SBR G50 but since you FWD you might wanna look into their 57 trim also. The G50 is a great turbo that can put down tons of power with great spool-up. And its very decently priced.

It all depends on what your goals are. If you want to run very low 12's, an EVO III will do fine and many have dipped into the high 11's with one. If you wanted to step up to a 20G, you could run 660's, but I'd recommend a larger injector (750's) for more headroom.

Please note that if you do decide to step up to 750's, the AFC will not be able to correct the airflow for these without jacking up your timing and running you into knock. That being the case, I'd recommend an EPROM ECU with custom A/F and timing tables, or DSMLink for even more control.

Good luck in making your decision,

Andy

#1) You need to tell us more about your goals for the car, or else you will get what we want to do to your car, not what you want to do :)
#2) With your Greddy FMIC, you are going to be limited to choosing a turbo with a small frame and outlet in the same location as the stock T25. This will limit your decision unless you are willing to do some of your own fabricating on IC pipes. You could also pick a vendor that would weld a 2" 90 degree weld elbow on your turbo, which will get you close to the stock outlet of the T25, but not perfect.
#3) Take small steps, no need for fuel rail at this level of the game. A good FPR is a nice choice however.

#1) Call Tire rack and order Kosei K1's and M&H 24" x 9" work well for the FWD.
#2) FWD to run low 12's in a full weight car you will need high 300's to low 400's IMO to trap around 117-120.
#3) Depending on your ability to tune, or if you will get the car to a dyno, I would assume you will need at least a 50 trim of some sort, or if money is not as tight do a GT30R in a bolt on housing.

Mike, you make it sound so easy :tease: However, you are most definitely correct. If you want to break into the 12's, you should get an e316G or larger, depending on how far you want to go in the future and how much you have to spend. The most important thing about getting a FWD into 12's is the proper driving/suspension setup.

OHHH, suspension?

Thats why my FWD never went faster than 11.9 @ 130 MPH :)

Huh, thanks for clearing that up LOL

What type of tire do you reccomend getting, Racemaster Cheater Slick, Racemaster Drag radials, racemaster drag slicks, racemaster Street & Strip

the street & strip would be the best to go with correct??

The A/F ratio gauge is only used to wow your friends while there in your car. It is absolutly useless because its a narrowband. If you tune you engine with a regular A/F ratio gauge, the blowing up of your engine is not too far off, Go Wideband if your going to tune with A/Fs

really? and reasons why you say this? LOL curious newb questions i know

it builds boost faily fast so you dont need a hi stall persay, and he already has it.

I'm running a small 16g on a stock converter and I can brake boost 10-12psi. The biggest improvement in my launch was putting in my cams.

just got back to the house, 14b was installed yesterday no real problems a lil modification to the oil/water lines but other than that simple stuff. i learn alot and had an expert helpin also. which made it easier.

launched the car a few times to see what it would do. it left at 15-16psi, running rich as hell. pulls nicely too.

no problem at all spoolin it up driving normally then getting into it or leave from a dead stop.

Stock converters stall to about 3000-3200 rpms. so most small turbos(t25,14b,small 16g ,big 16g, evo 16g) reach full boost somewhere near there. So it's all in the tuning in building lots of boost on the brakes. My wife 2g with evo 16g and 272 cams would build 25psi in seconds on the stock converter! With the 50 trim it'll build about 17-20 psi on the stock converter. With the IPT restall it'll build 25+. If have'nt done boost leak test then i'd suggest to do it. That will drastically help spool time and building boost.

only leak i had when we did that was fuel injector seals. . .

im able to build 16psi on the 14b with my current setup

Im looking for a new turbo My mods are in my profile. I have a 2g automatic. I just bought the new slowboy manifold. http://www.slowboyracing.com/shop.php?sid=&cat=588 I want a nice streetable turbo, low spooling that will pack a punch around 20 psi. I have been lookin at the 20g but im thinking of maybe a garrett with a mitsu flange. It will be external dumped to.. Any help thanks.

I recommend the 20G TD06 or FP Green or PTE 50 trim Ball Bearing turbo. TD06 turbos are definately slow spooling compared to T28s and EVO IIIs, but why do you want slow spooling on an AWD?
