hi, i wona upgrade my turbo on the gsx, and there is so many choices dont know which one to buy, so i asking you pepz wich turbo is best for under 1k for street/strip setup thanks,

like GILZTSIAWD mentioned DSM links anti-lag would work or you could get a nitrous system with a boost pressure switch.

It really depends on what you're trying to accomplish, there is no "best turbo".

Sure a GT35R will make a metric shite ton of horsepower, but it'll suck on an autocross course where it would never spool.

i had a 20g from hahn before it on my 1g
you had it on your 1g? or you had it on your 2g before you put it on your 1g? or what?...
hahn turbos will spool slow... something about that TDO5H-10cm2 turbine housing...

anyways by all other mods besides a fmic what do you mean?
what size injectors? what do you have (profile wasn't all the helpfull)

your stock intercooler in not only becoming heatsoaked from a bigger turbo, but is also a restriction, I would get a fmic before changing turbos again.

I have a 91 laser and i had all the mods on it with fmic and a hahn 20g and it was so slow to spool up it sucked, now this t3 t4 sc61 dosent seem to be a whole lot better! It just fells so sluggish when u go to take of untill you get some good boost goin than its good, Id just like to have a good turbo that can make all kinds of power run high 11's and still spool up quick as hell, i get in my 1g now (its all back to stock) and its a little rocket to drive LOL Compared to my 2g! what is the dsmlink goin to do to fix the lag?? I know dsmlink is for tuning isnt it?

-thats my dilema,i need a turbo upgrade, but something with a quick spool and no boost creep.

look into anti-lag devices (DSMlink, keydiver stutterboxes, etc)

Aside from that, get a slightly smaller turbo, or a smaller hotside (if possible) and sacrifice top end for low.

On the other hand, just build a 2.3 stroker, or a 2.4 six bolt and have the best of both worlds. * ROFL

*warning, your wallet may not agree with that statement.

Maybe its time to sell the turbo car and buy a supercharged mustang!

But seriously, theres so many aspects to take account for that there is no one best turbo. You have to take into account your goals for the car. If you like lag. If you want quick spool, or massive top end. So therefore the best turbo for you may not be the best turbo for me.

If you really want quicker spool and massive top end, then investing in a stoked 2.3 or even 2.4 4G64 would be a good choice. W/ the extra displacement, it will help spool that huge turbo like 16G would! And the top end would be awesome. And you'd get extra torque down low for potentally better launches at a lower RPM.

As for using DSMLink's antilag feature. Its not a true antilag, more like a drag style, and for everyday driving or use, you DON'T want antilag, too many bad things could outcome. But for the strip, sure, use antilag allnight and have fun spooling off the line.

what the hell are you talking about?

there is no answer to this question....

try telling us

1: your goals with your car,

2: which turbos your considering,

3: what companies you are considering...

id say either, mitsubishi, pte, fp, sbr, or any other company that makes turbos, but thats just my guess with the info you have provided...

Ok, I'm looking for opinions on what would be the best turbo set up for my car. I'm running and AMS bottom end ( ross 8.5:1 pistons/eagle rods ) bs eliminator kit, evo 8 mass air, forrester intake mani, ported 2g exh mani, apex'i N1 turbo back exh, 31x7x3 fmic, 680cc injectors ( lookin to go 720 or bigger though ), crower ss valves, 99 style lifters, hks 272's, goin fully built cylinder head in the near future so keep that in mind, shep trans, afcII (for now) gettin fuel rail, fpr, and ss lines soon. I'm just looking for your opinions on what turbo would best fit this setup. I want to eventually run in the 10's. I was lookin at the AGP rs60, I've also had other suggestions. I want a spool up time of 3500-4000 rpm's. I'm going to run 18psi on the street and 24-28 at the strip. I'm open to any and all suggestions, I would like to buy a whole kit, oil lines etc... but I don't want to spend $2500 I'm kind of on a budget but lookin around 1500 or so. Thanks for your time and opinions.

Ok you have allllllll that stuff, and you still don't have the knowledge of what sorta turbo to run on that setup? You aren't the kinda guy who makes lots of $ and put allllll those parts on his car just because you heard that's what the big boys run are ya? :) Well the absolute smallest turbo you'd want to run on that is a 20g. The 20gs put people into the 11s, and Buschur's crew ran high 10s on a 20g (back in 97 I believe). If I were you, I'd check the 1/4 mile times forum on this site and see what kinda turbo the guys running 10s are using, and then check their profiles and compare their mods to yours to get an idea of if that turbo they used will work on your setup. Such as if they have similar cam profiles, injector sizes, etc. However if you want to run 10s you might wanna go a little bigger than 720cc. I'd go at least 800cc. For $1500, you might want to start looking at some of those bigass ball bearing turbos. And "I want to run 10's, but I'm on a budget" clash big time! :D

I'd get rid of the AFC2 and get a DSM link or similar and tune the piss out of what you're running currently and see what you can get out of it. And practice practice practice. You can make a DSM with 700hp but if you don't know how to drive, you're not going to get into the 10s. There might be people with 600hp spanking your ass ### they know how to tune and handle what they have. My advice, tune what you have now and see what you can get out of it. Once you max it out and learn your car inside and out, then move up to at least a 20g.

Garrett GT35R that is all you need. I run 11s on pump gas with a stock 7.8:1 short block.

haha, no unfortunately i'm not that fortunate to make that kinda money and I've done almost all the work myself except for the motor build. This has been a 3 year project and I'm still not close to finished. I'm just looking to get other's opinions. I wanted to go w/ AMS gt35 kit but it's tooo damn expensive for my blood. yes bushur did run a 10.55 w/ a 20g, believe it or not my buddy actually bought that car and I've rode in it then he sold it to some guy in canada. I have the volks that were on it, it was in a magazine article and all kinds of good crap but yeah, that car was wicked fast. I do know how to drive. ;) just looking to see what other people think would be the best setup for the money. thanks =D

I was just gonna ask what are some thoughts of the 3065? Spool up time? I saw on a different forum a guy stated that they went 9.90's w/ no NOS and 9.70 w/ a small shot w/ the turbo.

ive got a 3065 on a 2.0 and i love it and i dont have it tuned to my liking yet (snow in ak) anyway yeah it depends what you want, i like the straights. so this turbo is perfect for me, you get full boost (24psi) for me at 5000, yeah i know that sounds laggy but once you get there its there through all the gears, head to the seat acceleration. and the guys at FP are the most helpful people in the car business i have experienced, but its gonna cost ya on the up side of around 2 grand (need the o2 housing, wastegate, and turbo), but the customer service is worth it in itself. also i see that your running a AFC i might think about the dsmlink also, or first. when i was on my afc i thought i had my car running perfect (on a 20g also) went to the dsmlink and found around (40hp) that i was missing just by messing with timing, an about 700 rpm's on the spool up also.
just food for thought though.

I'm going to call precision today and see what they can come up with, being that they're only a half hour away from me so that will be convinient. Thanks guys
