hi, i wona upgrade my turbo on the gsx, and there is so many choices dont know which one to buy, so i asking you pepz wich turbo is best for under 1k for street/strip setup thanks,

^^ they are too many varibles to answer that: what are your goals, do u mind more lag, is this a weekend car or a daily driver? is it for drag? autoX? a little bit of everything?

you can range from a 16G to a 60-1 it all depends

sry about that, i should of specified a lil better. i really dont have any certain goal at this present moment, i just want more power. the car is a daily driver, and i dont mind some lag, but i dont want it to spool like 1500 before redline either, i could deal with a lag maybe around 2500 to 3500, but not over that preferably. the car is a daily driver, but every so often taken to track and then anyone who wants to race from light to light, LOL.

Go for an EVO3 16G

thanks for everyones input. it helped a lot. where would a good place be to buy the evo3 16g turbo from?

thanks,
joe

Yep B16g. I have the same turbo myself. Spools fast and really no lag what so ever. You might stand a chance against higher hp cars with lag too :p Good luck, make sure to get pics

edit: Paul i think im stalking you, im posting in all your posts too.

Joe,

Don't expect that Exedy Stage I to hold up for very long if you install an Evo16G with your nice list of supporting mods. That clutch is good to hold intake/full exhaust/boost controller. You are going to fry that disk real quick.

Also, I laughed at you asking for a turbo that spools around 2500. I know you said 2500-3500 but thats like asking for power output between 250 and 350HP, huge difference :p

Just wondering what would be the best turbo and how much would it cost cause im thinking in the future about upgrading mine :D ......another question if i got a cat-back intake intercooler downpipe headers a bov and a mbc how much would that affect my power of my stock 210 hp on my stock gsx?

There is no such thing as a "best turbo". You can always just build a bigger and bigger turbo. But the trade offs are: the bigger the turbo, the bigger the power, but the bigger the turbo the more turbo lag upi get. Get a turbo that suites your application. With all those mods listed you would probably make around 270whp (assuming your sticking with the stock t-25 hairdryer crap turbo). DON'T FORGET to get a boost gauge before you go fooling around with the boost levels. Good luck!

what if i got all these things and got a 20g turbo? what hp would id be pushing and what would my time prolly be on the 1/4.And another question any know anything about automatics i heard u can get a shift kit that lets u shift good everytime what u guys think?

If you do a little research you will find what you need. It really depends on the rest of your set up and your tuning abilities. You're asking too vague of questions.

Check out www.buschurracing.com They have turbo specs for their 20g. That would be a good place to start.

What are your goals? You have to set some so you know what you want.
Do you want an all around fast car, do you want track only, do you want to autoX? What do you want to do?

You need to sit down for a long period of time and read everything you can about your car on these forums. Sounds like you have alot of learning to do. Im not trying to bust on you man, Im still a noob, but a good few hours on these forums and you wont need to ask questions like that. :talon:

The best turbo for a pump gas and a 2.0L engine would be a 50 trim or a green or a 3052.
The best turbo for high boost/2.4L would be a GT35R or a 3065.
The best race turbo would be a T4.

There are lots of best turbos you just need to find out what kind of goals you have for your car and pick a turbo accordingly.

any of u guys know what my car is supposed to run stock in the 1/4 im tryin to make it 11's or 12's right now i imagine but i still want it to look like a street car not a drag if u know what i mean....i know i am noob to almost everything and i still have alot to learn im only 16...im just asking a bunch of question because i plan on putting a good amount of money into my gsx so all of u guys input helps and i really apreciate it :dsm:

You have a long way to go til 11's or 12's right now. I'm not trying to put you off by any means, but it's going to take you a while to learn everything you'll need to know and get your car ready to support 11/12 second power. I'm in nearly the same position as you right now, and am in the process of saving money for mods.

First off, before doing anything you'll need the supporting mods (refer to the tuning guide http://www.dsmtuners.com/tuning-guide/ , stage 1 will have most of what you need for a while). From there, you'll have to choose a turbo from the vast array there are. Basically, anything will be bigger than our T25s, flowing a whopping ~22 lbs/min (300ish CFM). "Intermediate" upgrades would be a TD05H-14b (stock 1st gen manual turbo), putting you to nearly 30 lbs/min (around 430 cfm) or a TD05H-16g (around 35 lbs/min, low-mid 500 cfm) with its many variants (small, big, evo 3 in order from smallest to largest).

I'd suggest you look at one of these turbos first before something like a 20g or a 50 trim, as you're close to 2000 in just parts of supporting mods away (obviously less if you ghetto fab everything).

Ummm what was said above is VERY true. You are not ready to have a car with that kind of power because its going to break on you. There is a good chance that you have to make a number of repairs (by yourself unless you have tons of cash to spend having other people do it) to fix things that will break. You cannot push a car two or three times past its stock power level and not expect things to break. So unless you are ready to do this, I don't recommend modding your car to this extent. Start out with some basic upgrades and just be happy with with that for a while. Then gradually move up as your learn more and more about repairs and how to properly tune. If you don't know anything about tuning (not sure if you do or not) then your 12 sec car will be a broken 12 second car.

take it easy with your mods. research things, then when you think you are ready to add everything to your shopping basket, do more research! figure out what numbers you are looking for, look at other people's mod lists. read everything, and read it carefully.

before you plunk in a turbo you are going to need some fuel mods and other supporting stuff. make sure you do your research. there is a perfect turbo... you just gotta find it, and no one can tell you which one it is.

**NEWBIE ALERT**

ok noob you time for some quicks tips: first read this thread http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=89000, next learn to use the search function EVERY month we get noobs in here saying " i want 400 WHP what do i need" "What is the best turbo" "How come i cant find any headers for my turbo DSM"

using the search function can save alot of hassle because trust us you are NOT the first person to ask these questions :dsm:

jay, if you're 16 you don't need your car to run 11's heh. you don't have enough driving experience. but if you have the money strap on a lancer turbo and a supra intercooler. got my friends GSX to run 11.8's.......

Jay123, you need to do your own research. People will not put up with spoon feeding you info. You seem to think turbo cars have "headers" and running 11's is a piece of cake and it's cheap. www.vfaq.com is the DSM bible. Read it, use it, live by it. Also take advantage of the search function here.

incase you arent being sarcastic.

the exhaust manifold. comes off the head on the motor on the exhaust side, and goes to the turbo. on NA cars this would go directly to the exhaust.

As the title state whats the best turbo kit for the money? Getting ready to fix my 2g n/t eclipse and I know it just wouldn't be right if its all show and no go. If you've already done this upgrade please leave you opinion.

THanks
Harry
