Any chance that anyone has a pic of the oil pump bushing properly installed into an automatic DSM trans? Trying to track down the leak on mine while I have the transmission out and am wondering how it is supposed to look.

Read a few threads about this moving forward and causing the leak. Asking about 034 that shown in the picture below. I know it's a bit of a stretch but all help is appreciated.

It could be a worn bushing causing the seal to blow, or it could just be a bad seal or leaky pump gasket. Have you replaced the seal yet?

I have not. That is the plan but i would rather not do that, then re-install everything just to find out that the bushing also needs replaced.

It is way more common for just the seal to be bad. I would inspect the bushing while you have the seal out as well as the converter shaft surface.

What would I look for exactly? Just excess wear or anything specific? Also, exactly how is it supposed to sit in there? Sit flush with the pump surface? Because i noticed that there is a groove on the inside of the old seal and it doesn'the seem like anything sits in it at the moment. Thank you for the help by the way

Seen pilot bushings actually turn in the fluid pump housing, which in turn grooves the nose end of the TC-where leaks come from.

What happened on one I did was the starter ring on the TC had broke its weld causing slight vibrations just enough to warble the bushing loose in the fluid pump and groove up the nose end of the TC.

When I pulled the pilot bushing out, I could pull it out with no tools and it was rotating freely. They need to be lightly pressed in the pump end.

Both bushing and TC needs to be replaced.

Good luck -DSM
