Ok guys, I have a question(s). When installing your ARP studs, you use the supplied lube which is ARP moly based specially formulated assembly lubricant.
With this lube, your final torque on regular ARP head suds is around 80 LBS. Some will argue that its 90 LBS.
Anyways, I'm in the market for some ARP Assembly lube. And when I went to ARPs web site, they have a completely different lube with is: ARP Ultra Torque Fastener Assembly lubricant. I don't think this is a moly base lubricant. It seems like there is 2 lubs now.
So which one should be used?? If the arp Utra torque is used, what are the final torque numbers for the 12mm arp head suds??

Thanks.

The Ultra-Torque assembly replaced the old moly lube. It was a running change, so the old moly lube is no longer available. The Ultra-Torque is just a "latest and greatest" refined version of the moly lube. They both do the same thing - the new stuff is just supposed to do it better. Torque values remain the same with either lube.

With either lube, use the 3-step process with the following values: 30-60-85 ft/lbs

Thanks man. I guess I'll be ordering some of that lube. So arp studs can be re-use? I was pushing some coolant and overheating and such. I checked my studs and they were way out of spec. I checked them at 30 lbs and were ok. I then checked them at 60lbs and they were loose. Over half a circle with the torque wrench set at 60lbs. Last time they were tighten was when the engine was put together which was back in may of 2005. At this point I figured that the oil had wash away all the moly lube used to torque the studs. So I torqued the studs to 120lbs. Then 500 miles later I re-torque again to that same value. They were loose to 110lbs. So because of this, I'd like to know if the studs are still good. I'll be taking my head off and maybe getting resurface with some new valves and guides. I'll go with a composite HG this time.
