What on earth would the appeal of right hand drive be? I mean why would someone want to convert their car to right hand drive? Somehow that means it's sexy?

they must have owned a honda before...or hang out with honda kids.

I don't see the appeal either. Have fun with drive through windows at banks, fast food places, toll booths....

The mechanics of the DSM are Japanese but the body etc is American, except the 420A.

Look at all the electronics, engine, all Japanese (Mitsubishi).

I think there were other places of manufacturing DSM's. For example the european DSMs (like mine) have vin numbers look like this - 4MBMND32AXE******... So M stands for Mercury i think and that should be another factory I guess. And do you see the D32 in the vin? :)

A quick guess - maybe you have seen Mitsubishi FTO which is right hand drive only?

And just to tease you guys - this is a picture of my speed gauge reading 240 km/h in action :) (actually it is scaled to 250 if you look closely)

As far as I've ever been able to figure out, all "DSM's" were built in the United States, and modified for export (gauges, lenses, certain badges etc) there was never a right hand drive DSM, I've seen a few Eclipses when I was in Tokyo and they are still left hand drive, which is probably why they aren't very popular tuning platforms. They were sold new in Japan, and have Japanese owners manuals, so technically I guess you could say there are "JDM" Eclipses, just not in the traditional sense of the word.

^This picture is just a refence, I spotted a silver 2Ga in Shinjuku, Tokyo with "GSR-4" badges instead of the usual GS-T/X font on the trunk lid.

pm me and we will speak about it :) however it only reads 180 KM max and it has a cut on 178 km as max speed :((((( no matter how modded ## car u can only run to 178 KM unless you remove the speed limiter.

in Canada, the speedo goes up to 240 km/h. the FWD turbos were limited to 137 mph (about 219 km/h) but the AWDs were not limited

gsr-4.. thats pretty interesting. i want that sticker probably impossible to get though...

Same here id like to put that on my car id have alot of honda kids looking at me and thinking "WTF thats not a gsr". :sneaky:

Just realised in the title of this thread that the word "American" was spelled incorrectly haha.

diamond star motor, japanese domestic market do i pass first grade? =P

DSMs are american, yes. You do know what DSM and JDM stand for right? They are completely different acronyms and shouldn't even be used in the same sentence (unless clarifying the difference, of course :D)...

Yea... bull shit. ROFL. There were NEVER any right hand drive eclipse.

This does not count.

The above concept pict fits the bill for either a US Mail Rural Route Driver and/or a rural route paper driver also.

DSM .. just a nice relationship between Chrysler and Mitsu that actually began back in the early 70's when Chrysler wanted a compact car since Ford had their Pinto and Chev had their Vega.. and Mitsu wanted to get their vehicles in the states, thus the "captive import" was born - Mitsu cars badged as Chrysler products..

No. First graders are familiar with punctuation and proper capitalization. Give it a shot from here on out and you just might make it to cursive and multiplication tables.

FWIW, I will personally fly out and slap someone if they RHD convert these cars. Buy a Honda instead.

Ok I confused. What so bad bout RHD again?

Being that there are no RHD DSMs, this takes rice to a whole new level. Pointless.
