are dsm's amarican cars?

DSM's were assembled in Normal, IL, and are just as "American" as Fords or Chevy's. They are also just as "imported" as Fords or Chevy's have been for the last 15 years. :)

To classify any vehicle made in the last 15 years as "American" or "imported" is a bit silly IMHO. Except for some European and other makes, almost every automobile shares parts, labor, and engineering from around the world these days, regardless of the nameplate it wears.

ok i just was tell someone that dsm is not a jdm thats why they arnt called jdm cause there not imported or anything am i right?

DSMs are american, yes. You do know what DSM and JDM stand for right? They are completely different acronyms and shouldn't even be used in the same sentence (unless clarifying the difference, of course :D)...

They were built in Normal, IL, then exported to other places in the world such as Europe. They also have the EU Domestic market DSMs in their NON-Turbo version featured the 4g63 Mitsu engine and not the 420A Chrysler engine.

I'm guessing what happened was they were all built here in il, then some were shipped off to other countries & final assembly was done there, ie emblems, vin #'s, etc.....

They are pretty far from "JDM" and for people to understand that the Mitsu Eclipse is a Domestic and the Dodge Stealth is "JDM" is a hard thing to swallow, but they'll get over it.

hi

well my car is made in japan and it never reached usa , it was imported from japan and it was built there, i have almost everthing written in japanese on my car . even the warning signs are in japanese

correct me if iam wrong i would really like to know

thanks

^^^ Your absolutely right about "our" DSMs, Rayban. Except the complete car was built in the good ol' US of A, Normal, Illinois. The difference between our rides is they left out D.O.T. regulation items because they are not required in Japan. Every stamp, sticker, label, guages(kms) and marking on my car is just like yours, all in Japanese. But I can assure you we probably wouldn't pass american DOT standards if we tried to import them back into the states, at least without not having to do safety modifications. Our chassis vehicle make and model label (metal label on firewall) is in English and includes chassis specs, to include factory plant location. When I make it back home, and leave this region, I won't feel not one bit sad about ditching my current DSM, because North America is like a wonderland of opportunity for DSM projects just waiting to be built. Here's an old, and I mean really old, thread about this same topic:

I have no idea I saw this a few years back when i wasnt even able to drive and didnt know much about cars so i didnt bother askin the owner any questions sry. but if you look around you might find some reputable shops aound your area that can do it. i know around here in CA pricing for a right hand side go for $1,000-$1,500 with parts but its mostly for hondas and i dnt know how good they are with DSMs

I don't image cus i've seen one before LOL:hellyeah:

Yea... bull shit. ROFL. There were NEVER any right hand drive eclipse.
