You aren't going to do a swap... period and if you did it would be a total waste of time and money. If you want to turbo it, sure waste your time on that too. I'm sure a lot of the 420a members on here who refuse to live in reality will tell you they are capable of making the same amount of HP, not only is it no where near the same amount of money to come close to the same HP for the money but the motor WILL NOT handle NEAR the same amount of power as the 4g63t.

The best solution will be sell your car or keep it for a daily driver. Then you will want to buy a turbo model, if you want a street machine go with a FWD as they weigh way less or you can go with a AWD model for drag or whatever else you might want to use AWD for.

Swaps don't ever get finished and aren't worth it even when they are.

Don't listen to the idiots who tell you it's worth your time.

I think you need a little bit of editing, I believe what you meant was that there are a different number of bolts holding the flywheel to the crank. Sorry to correct you, but we didn't want anyone thinking in V-8 terms where 4bolt would mean there are 4 bolts per main cap.

This isn't a v8 community and yes I left out a term my bad. Thank you for pointing that out!

usually I don't do this, but:
You aren't going to do a swap... period

Don't tell him what he is, or isn't going to do. You don't make the laws that govern the universe. It makes it difficult for people to listen to you.

and if you did it would be a total waste of time and money.
Sorta headed in the right direction, except you are casting judgment. Unless you know EXACTLY what it is he wants, you really can't tell him what's a waste of time and money.

If you want to turbo it, sure waste your time on that too.
This is where you are asking to be ridiculed. What's wrong with wanting, and actually going ahead and putting a turbo on your car???? It would be one thing if he came on the site and said "I wanna make 1000hp on my 420a with a $2,000 budget!"

I'm sure a lot of the 420a members on here who refuse to live in reality will tell you they are capable of making the same amount of HP, not only is it no where near the same amount of money to come close to the same HP for the money but the motor WILL NOT handle NEAR the same amount of power as the 4g63t.

Big deal. The guy has the car, and wants a little more power. Don't tell him he NEEDS to buy a 4g63 if he wants a little speed.

The best solution will be sell your car or keep it for a daily driver. Then you will want to buy a turbo model, if you want a street machine go with a FWD as they weigh way less or you can go with a AWD model for drag or whatever else you might want to use AWD for.

FWD or AWD model as opposed to what???
Swaps don't ever get finished and aren't worth it even when they are.

Don't listen to the idiots who tell you it's worth your time.

How are you to tell this guy what is or isn't worth his time? Are you really that narrow-minded????

Ty I'm just trying to make it street legal have a bit of power and just be able to have a reliable car that has some power

Ty I'm just trying to make it street legal have a bit of power and just be able to have a reliable car that has some power

i have the same problem, what i decided is to keep my 420a and do slight mods to it for power but i wanted to know which mods are best for a power and keep the reliability of the car, then get a gsx or something later my main focus is the 420a for my daily driver...

Just get a complete exhaust system, intake an a ecu chip into it and you won't have to spend to much bread

If you want more advice on how to raise your HP on a 420a just pm

And that's what I wanna do to dsmblood so if anyone would like to offer advice it would be greatly appreciated ty

^You can think of your 2G N/T DSM as you would a NA Honda, most bolt ons are basic, Rather than listen to Ridicule for not buying a Turbocharged version do what you want, and what you feel comfortable with.

Tech Guide: 2G 420A Power Upgrades - DSMtuners

The 420A forums, and google are your friends.

Want better performance? the Turbo-Kits available are more like the ones used for Hondas.

( Low boost applications).

Have fun with your car, and Welcome.

I say go with the 420A, its what you want and already have. When you are done and get what you want out of your car its a better and longer feeling than someone saying wow that is a nice car. Not that they wont to yours. A turbo 420A you dont see those on the road everyday. Unless one lives next door.
Good luck and welcome buddy!!!

Good post. I encourage more of this.

Anyone wanting to know what basic bolt-ons to do to their 420a can check out what I did. I mentioned in a thread to someone who asked the exact same question:

I have a DC 4-2-1 header
high flow cat
O2 sensor spark plug non-fouler mod
18" cherry bomb (used as a resonator)- I would recommend getting a 22" resonator

As for the back end. Magnaflow is good. I removed my magnaflow 14" resonator and replaced it with the cherry bomb since it wasn't long enough. The cherry bomb helps a bit, but a 22" resonator would work much better IMO. The sound without a resonator is pretty bad.

I don't have power steering or A/C (Took those out for reasons besides power).

I plan on getting a UDP.

I have a custom CAI setup.

With opening the exhaust, I think it will be beneficial to bore out the throttle body and port match the intake manifold. I will most likely get a second throttle body after market or such, instead of boring out the one I have now.

I might forego that route however, and get 8psi of boost. That will be fine for a fun daily driver.

Regardless of how fast your car is, there will always be someone faster, so I don't really care what everyone else wants to do as long as I'm satisfied with what I did.

Good luck!

Thanks! I was going to do just the opposite with my avenger for mileage, but I never went through with it. I'll see what the cloud cars have available. I think with my techniques, I'll be able to maintain my good gas mileage even with shorter gears so I'll definitely check it out.

so what ecu would be ideal for my stock 420 to gain horsepower or what kinda intake should i look towards

Ok so what does it do and how much would it cost and where can I get one

If I had a nickle for every post like this I have seen I'd be a millionaire.

The situation here is he literally stated he wants to beat v8s (I'm guessing he didn't mean jeep grand cherokees)

The best bet for that situation, or anyone who bores with the power their N/T setup lacks.

Stated millions of times on here.. Sell it and purchase a turbo model. OR daily drive it and know it isn't fast, but reliable and looks like turbo models.

There are people out there with turbo'd 420a's that are respectable. It's just way more money, way more hassle.

There are DSM out there and at a G a week you could have a nice turbo 2g in just over a month.

Power is an addiction, 420a is restrictive. 4g63t is free flow.

Although I would take an n/t spyder and turn it into a 4g64t w/ 63 head, all the internal goodies, etc. That's a swap worth doing...

K I just wanna clear this up I've come to conclusion I'm gonna keep my car I want it to be a fast daily driver but a project car at the same time so as I said before and advice is greatly appreciated

its hard to find imports where im at where i lived i could find one on every block any suggestions of where to get one

Good things DSM are not imports;) 420a make good dd and like everyone else said, a few bolt on and you should be good. Look on ebay for exhaust there dirt cheap and easy to find for 2g's. I noticed You were talking about keeping it steet legal. One of the things I like about my 1g is that I can make it street Illiegal ,I guess you can say, and still DD it. In illinios anything before 96 does not need emissions testing.:hellyeah: Welcome to the main reason your going to be Poor! then again you make way more than I do.

Another thing I left out your 420a is a dodge engine, So parts are reasonalby easy to find at Junkyards, or at least by me.

i just purchased my first dsm its a 95 talon tsi awd auto im new to this whole thing so i was wondering ive been told to do a 6 bolt swap is it worth it or should i just mod and build my 7 bolt ?

That's entirely up to you, and what your goals are. I still have my "Stockish" & bold in my 95 GSX

shane c07 6 bolt engines can hold a little more HP than a 7 bolt as stock but they are 4g63 so I don't really see why you want to change but that's your choice. If it was me I would spend that money inside my engines head or in a trannys swap

thanks for the replys like i said i any info is appreciated i already have a prety decnt wish list for this car i have some mean intentions even tho its ana auto LOL got my fuel pump rewire walburo 255 fuel controler injectors and front mount on order any other mod ideas besides the turbo that i cant afford right now?
