Recently my alt belt popped off and noticed my water pump was bad. Replaced water re installed everything back. Started car. Car ran for ten minutes then battery and a/t light light came on.
One the alt belt seem short. When the belt first came off with bad water pump I couldn't get belt back on like it drastically shrunk. Belt it fine no rips or tears. Somehow got the belt on. Trying figure what went wrong.
1. I marked all the belts and their direction as I took them on.
I jumped the car and it started. But when I give it gas the battery and a/t light up. When I let go of gas it slowly dims out. The lights up again once I try give it gas. Car died at idle.
Alt harness it connected top of two screws has red cup wire attached bottom has the ground .tested battery and came up with 12.3 tried crank no start then got 11.5. Need help don't want to by battery if it's alt or something else. Thanks in advance.

Charge your battery with charger over night your battery prob had low amps and your alternator can't keep up ur best bet would be to try that b4 you replace either the battery or the alt , when I drained my battery (popup lights were on all night ) we jumped that battery and after cruisein abit I parked and sure enough my battery died an hour later[DOUBLEPOST=1410575776][/DOUBLEPOST]Do a low amp slow charge over night a good 10hrs should be plenty at least for my battery

Sounds like you got the belt going around the AC pulley on the crank instead of the inner ALT pulley making the belt travel drastically short.

Check your belt path again.

On the alternator, the 12V wire that attaches to the back of the alternator needs to be rock tight.

Touch the DVOM leads to the battery with the motor on idle. You should have 13.8 to 14.5 coming out of the alternator. If anything different, alternator took a dump to head to the reman shop for rebuild.

Never had to take ac belt off when I did my ps or alt belt. Ac belt was on inner most part of crank pulley. I think if you relocated it to ac position then it will go on inner part off the crank pulley. If I'm wrong the previous owner had it like that
