2G 7 bolt head removal process

My 99 gsx recently spun a rod bearing and i need to pull the head off to make sure its not damaged. What is the full process for removing the head?? I know there is a special order that you have to remove the head bolts in, but what about the timing components and water pump and all the pulley and belts??

No, the engine is still in the car. Im not gonna be the one swapping out the engines. Im checking the head before it goes to the shop so i know before hand if need to find a head or if that one needs rebuilt or if its fine to swap on to the new block.

Take timing belt off, take turbo off, then take head off.

^ +1. If you're planning on new timing belt just cut the belt at the cams, makes for a very quick removal.

head bolts don't have a specific order for removal, however you should put in the retainer pin on the timing tensioner prior to removing the belt unless you are going to be replacing it.

Good tip on the tensioner.

Edit: a good tool for that is a small hex key if you don't have spare grenade pins.
