Maybe I missed it, but what are you doing about the exhaust pipes? I think it'd be cool if you could run it back to the stock location, 2 tips rear exit. But then again, if this will be a drag car you could do the typical side exit?

this can go one of the two ways ive pondered about it. I could make a complete 3” exhaust out the rear of the vehicle. It would run between the passenger side of the trans and frame. Or what i will 90% most likely be doing is just going with a sode exit out of the factory fuel fill doormon the passenger side. I actually was just thinking about this yesterday as i had the turbine housing mounted on the manifold. Turbo outlet to exhaust tip would probably put me somewhere around 18-24” exhaust length.

Since last time theres been some mall but significant progress! I got the swing out door bars done and the last two bars to connect the four link brackets to the frame. I picked up some 1 1/4” schedule 10 exhaust pipe from Mr Peepers so i could start building my manifold. Id love to have one of their pieces on the car but the amount of money for a one off manifold is just way out of my budget at the moment. I figured out a way to mount my alternator as well!

Manifold is all welded up. Still need to make some wastegate provisions, need some gates first. Got the four link braces done and started buttoning up the sheet metal!

Finally got around to ordering some wastegates and finished the manifold! Also got some gauges.

Yes everything was done by me in my garage except my rear end housing, i sent that out to be shortened. Thank you. Self taught mostly. A lot of trial And error.

Few thing done lately. Ive been digging into the wiring harness. I de-pinned a few things from the engine harness and the chassis harness. I ended up buying a hotrod fuse box for the chassis side to keep things simple. I modified the thermostat and upper radiator hose ports to face towards the intake side and fabbed up some cooling lines. I also modified my stock 2g intake manifold. I Mocked up the intercooler charge piping. Still have to weld that up and buy a bov and ecu. Also kind of tried a couple sets of wheels with the rear fenders.

Any reason youre not welding an outlet onto the front of the head and the water pump outlet to shorten your cooling hose lines? It'd save space and prolly be more efficient in the long run, just an option.

id looked into it a few times and turned away every time. I didnt really want to modify the block or head to redirect coolant flow like you have to do, id still have to run an inline thermostat housing. I really just wanted everything to function as close to stock as possible so i knew that it was going to work. Perhaps down the road ill change the setup to something like that but for now this is how its going to work! Not to mention those outlets sold cost money and im on a budget. I spent a total of like 15$ on this cooling setup and that was for the one radiator hose i cut four or five times to use as various couplers!

So a bit of an update here. I did some body work to the front fender and got all four clear coated, ordered some rear wheels and tires, and Wired the car. As it sits right now im waiting for my map sensor to come in and i can adjust the fuel pressure and fire it up. Hopefully everything works as it should through the ecu. I incorporated an aftermarket fuse box for lights and such like that, this isnt finished yet.

i still need to get front tires, Bleed the brakes and clutch and Make sure all the suspension is tight. I also need to have a driveshaft made then i should be able to get her out!! Were close!

thanks bud! I hope to be able to take it down the road in a week or two! Pretty late in the season but it is what it is! Hopefully i can make it to the track for some shakedowns before the end of the season!

finally an update for yall! I havent really taken any photos lately due to the things getting done are pretty minor but heres a little run down:
*built a new alternator bracket,
*got front tires and mounted, then once set on the ground noticed i got the wrong spring rate for my shocks. It was sitting in the bump stops.
*that led to getting the car weighed so i could get the correct springs.
*the car currently weighs 2150# with me in it! I still have a couple windows out of it and some interior sheet metal to finish.
* bought another speedometer, the original one was a mechanical gauge, turns out the sensor wont fit betwen the frame rails so i had to get an electric one.
*tried and failed to build a driveshaft so i outsourced that, 200$ was cheap insurance it wouldnt come apart on me!
*and finally! DROVE IT FOR THE FIRST TIME!! The tune still needs a bit of work and im trying to work out some minor issues. But it moves under its own power nonetheless!

Couple small changes since last time. I decided i didnt like the placement of the intercooler. So, i ditched it. In doing so i decided to move the radiator to the rear and mount the fuel tank over the rear end. The pvc is for mock up purposes(for the most part ) i have to weld up my fuel fill cap and ill be able to put it all back together for the last time and fill it back up with coolant.
The last time i fired it up i noticed that after initial start up and idle voltage would read fine then after i hit the throttle i noticed the voltage gauge would spike and you could audibly hear the fuel pump whine louder! Upon moving my batter to its permanent location i found a wire that was from the alternator that was supposed to go to a 30A fuse that id somehow missed. Hopefully that will take care of that issue, ill find out when i get it fired back up. There is a car show i plan to have the car at on Saturday! We’ll see how it goes!

Well, i took care of my voltage issue. Im fighting some fuel trim issues now. Might be due to a bad wideband sensor. Ill have to get a new one and see how/if it helps. For now, just out here catchin some rays!

Its been quite a long time since there has been any significant changes with the car. Heres a quick rundown on the last year.

* In December of '21 the car was still fighting some fueling issues that couldnt for the life of me figure out. But the car did run and was able to move under its own power. I decided to take a break from this car and drove it 3 miles from my shop to my home garage to store over the winter while I tinkered with my ctsv.

*March-April '22 when the weather was decent enough to be outside I had a thought that might have contributed to my issue, so I went out and unplugged the ecu to check a couple pin connections. Led to a deadend and the pin locations werent my issue.

*May '22 I tried to load the car on my trailer to prep for my 1600 mile journey to my new home in southern Florida. The car would not start. I tried so much I killed the battery. Ended up pushing it out of the garage and winching it on the trailer. On the trip down Id remembered that I disconnected the ecu two months prior. Sure enough when we got to our destination I checked and a connection at the ecu was unplugged.

*Yesterday (July 29) I had a local ish guy who tunes quite a few evos and dsms through his shop come help me. We were able to iron out the startup, cruise and were even able to make some JAM! Even on wastegate pressure and only second gear pulls I COULD NOT stop smiling! We were street tuning and had to try and keep speed at a somewhat decent mph haha. We did kind of fight engine temps at first. Since the radiator is in the rear of the car and despite burping the system for what felt like forever there was still air in the system. Once we fixed that the temp would stay right around 205-210*. Not terrible but I want to get it down a bit more.

Overall, the car isnt finished yet but it was a huge step in the right direction! I cant wait to get back to it and see what the car can do! Ill try and get some videos soon as I can!
