what are the engine specs of a 420a and a 4g63? And if i was do buy 4g63 parts when i have a 420a how much fabrication would have to be done to make it work or it work work at all, i understand there two different motors but how different are they besides the turbo?

They are totally different engines. You either need to choose one or the other to build. You will have to buy parts for each specific engine and little if any is going to be the same. Save yourself the time and money and go with the 4g63 if you're really serious.;)

Did you not look at the 2 motors? The tranny is on the opposite side, EVERYTHING is different.

What's the difference between a Honda D16 and a Ford 427?

i did some research and the 420a bore size is 87.5mm and the 4g63 is 85mm bore. the stroke for the 420a is 83mm and the 4g63 has a 88mm stroke. my next question is the dimensions of the exhaust and intake manifold dimensions.

Look at it this way, the 4g63 is built for boost, the 420a is not. Not saying the 420a cant take some boost but not near the amount the 4g63 can. The 4g63 is obviously a stronger motor. What are you trying to figure out about the spec, which motor is stronger or better?

They are two completely different engines. Just because the bore size and stroke are almost sorta kinda close, the parts they use are not the same. Start searching the archives for how to do a 2g swap to a 4g63t.

well i know most the specs are different on the motors but with enough fabrication and money anything is possible. The real question is, is the milk worth the squeez LOL or is it worth all the work to make the 4g63 parts work in the 420a. I know you have a 99 n/t but do you really want to go on with the 420a or go ahead and look into a turbo dsm. Im in the military but also sell cars so im sure I can find a decent 1g or 2g turbo dsm where ever you are.

Save some research time. The 4g63 will take more abuse and make serius HP. The 420a is a completely different engine. It may look like the 4g63, but dimensional simularities you may find will be totaly coincedental and of no use. The 4g63 motor in you car will require removing the entire drivetrain. Then you would need the entire drivetrian for the 4g63. If you want a fast car, sell the non turbo model. You can turbo the 420 that you have , but without some internal work, the 420a Neons will eat you alive. You are in a tough place with the N/A 420 engine. It's for a daily driver, not much more. Tres...

kind of a stretch but my main question is it possible with alot of fabrication.
Nope. 420A motors are built in Mexico under US specs, and the 4G63 are built in Japan under Japanese specs. Just like you can't swap parts between a Chevy 302 and a Ford 302 even though they're also close in inner dimensions.

Give the idea up completely.

Are you trying to go for a completely original idea? trying to be the first one to custom fab. the parts onto/into a 420a? or are you just too lazy to find the parts for a 420a or just can't find the parts you want for a 420a?

and what parts are you talking about? things like rods, pistons, intake manifolds?

or are you talking about fuel regulators, mufflers, oil catch cans, springs and shocks.

If your talking about the first line of mods just stop right now and don't even think about it again, its not gonna work ever. unless you spend soooooo much money at the machine shop modding that you could of built 2 4g63t's.

if your talking about other things that aren't so motor dependent like fuel pumps, fuel pressure regulators, suspension, exhaust from the manifold back. those things are car dependent not motor dependent so they will be the same.

So you know if you want you can call up companies like wiseco and eagle and ask them to make pistons and rods for your motor as long as they can get the specs they need. and a lil extra money for the work. there are people out there that sell parts for the 420a motor. and their are people out there that have heavy modded 420a's that go pretty fast and turbo'd. talk to them and find out where they got their parts. just don't try anything from a 4g63t it won't work period.

go here and that will get you started on finding some parts for your motor.
call up strictly moddified, ams, slow boy racing, and all those guys for parts for your motor.

or opition B is to save up and read up on how to swap a 4g63t into your car and go from there.

hope this helped. and good luck

420a is like a 4g63 like a Civic is like a Ferrari they both have 4 tires and a motor, hood, doors

You can turn a fridge into a stove... but your probably better off just buying a stove.

Don't waste your time or $. Just buy a 4G63 with a car around it.

Now that we have that figured out....

OP, check the technical articles here, the VFAQ, 2GNT.com - home, the upgrade paths, and the vendor/parts database here.

Please do your research before going out and buying parts for your car. Don't automatically assume that all you need to do is slap a turbo on your car and you'll instantly be racing Vette's at the track the next day. I know you're probably smarter than that, but I only say this because of the beliefs and attitudes of people in the past; people much like you who are new to DSM's, cars in general, turbochargers, modifying cars. People who have seen one too many Fast and Furious movies.

So, get your goals for your car ready.
- Do you want a good handling car?
- Do you want XXX horsepower?
- Do you want your car to look/sound/act a certain way?

Sit down, figure out what you want your car to do, then research what it'll take for you to get it there. All the combinations of goals you can think of have probably already been mentioned and discussed. Whether you want a 200hp auto-cross weekend warrior or a 400hp track monster or a 300hp daily driver, it's pretty much all been covered by someone at sometime. And if your question by some miracle isn't answered, that's when you post your question and we answer it for you. :)

Good luck, happy modding.

Please tell me! How about the washer fluid reservoir cap? Is it the same in 420a and 4g63? I live in Hungary and there is no way to buy a 420a parts only from USA on ebay. But I can not found a washer bottle reservoir cap. All the same i can buy 4g63 parts every car part shop. So the question is: The washer fluid reservoir cap is the same?

just buy a 4g if your going to spend the money and time fabricating.. the whole sirius(4gxx) engine family has so may interchangeable parts its almost comical, if your looking to Frankenstein something theres so many variations you could even end up doing somthing no one has done before. i know nothing about the 420a but say you buy a 1g 7bolt motor and you want to do some fabrication to make something special- go buy your self a evo 8 cylinder head a wrap your head around that. or a 4g64 block with a late evo head, they're beasts and your practicaly buying a factory 2.4 stroker block... i dnt know if there any many mitsu pickups in the states but alot of people in my part of the world are getting massive smiles on their faces from bolting a old triton rwd transmission to their 4gxx, burnouts drags whatever. still not enough? go swap a 4g63 dsm driveline into a honda, everyone loves an awd civic, and thats plenty fabrication in that one. i could go on and on about things you can do with a 4g block especialy the 7 bolt if you want to make somthing different. only thing that looks interesting that i ahve seen for the 420a is a i.t.b swap from a 4g93 engine or somthing, yawn. 4g63 motor will keep you busy and can easily deplete all your funds depending on how much you want to do.
4g63 platform is arguably one of the most cost effective performance 4cylinder motors in the world.

LOL, do a swap, 7 bolt powerplant and driveline goes for less than 2k in your part of the world. if all you want is a resivior cap then you should go to http://autopartswarehouse.com/ and speak to a salesman, im sure they can source a plastic cap for you, better than asking the general public if a dsm washer fluid cap will fit your car hahaWTF

admin i ahve no asscioation with apwh.com, just trying to steer the kid away from being robbed by stm and the like for a common cap.
