ok dont start a war here i just wanna know what to look for in a 4g63

im not sure if to buy a 95-96 or 97-99 which one benefits more i like both bodys

i currently have a 95 420a and its having a prob with the ecu will a 95-96 gst have probs with ECUS as well and wh at about crankwalk

-a newbie learning about 4g63s :shhh:

Learn to type properly and maybe you'll get a more straight forward answer.

Crankwalk? Shut up and buy the car, if it walks it walks. Any car can walk.

2g ECU's are fine and all hot swappable (Granted you're putting an AWD in an AWD and FWD in a FWD) I've never heard of bad caps in a 2g ECU.

Happy shopping.

yea sorry about my typing i did it in a rush

so between the 95-96 and 97-99 there are no problems

6 bolt engines come with the 95-96 and 7 bolt comes with 97-99 (this is why i was asking about crankwalk i heard 6 bolts have a tendency)

so now all i have to do is find a GST in good cond OMG

Wait, wait, wait!! All 2g's are 7 bolt, and 7 bolts are the motors that walk more, 6 bolts are the better than 7 bolts for crankwalk. The 420a is a completely different motor, so be careful not to confuse the 6 bolt, 7 bolt, and 420a up with eachother.

like the previous guy said. 90-91 had 6 bolt cranks (which can support 450 HP on stock internals) whereas thee 92-99 has the 7 bolts (which can support 400 HP on stock internals). 7 bolts crankwalk more than 6 bolts and a 420a is a chrysler engine which is a completely different setup. engines are flipped and everything.

and ya, so far all my friends that drive 2g's haven't experienced crankwalk. so fk it and buy a car.

yea i can see you were in a rush  you were such in a rush you had enough time to put a smily face at the end of the title :shhh:

Anyway the 2G mas is one of the strong points of the 2G. Mitsu used the 3000GT MAS which is good up for 400HP. If you worry about crankwalk dont even buy a 2G just get a 1G :dsm:

You're wrong, bud.

92.5 - 99 are 7 bolts.

MOST 92's ARE 6-BOLTS. Including mine.

saying that MOST 92's are 6 bolts is a bit of a blown up statement ain't it? if 1/2 of 92's were 6 bolt and 1/2 of the 92's were 7 bolts, wouldn't that mean that there is an EQUAL amount of 92 6 and 7 bolts??

Smart Ass :p

i disagree with your statement. both 6 bolt and 7 bolt are both capable of producing the same amount of power on stock internals. even with the different copmpression ratios and the different flowing heads. but hey if you put a 1g head/intake mani on a 7 bolt block its still a 7 bolt block making "X" amount of power. if anything, a 7 bolt with a 1g head swap would be more capable of making more hp on stock internals because of the 8.5:1 c/r compared to the 7.8:1 c/r. but in all honesty i think they both will handle the same around 425-450 with good tunes and very well tuned a possible 500whp. hell im pretty sure its been done. :dsm:

I don't know what you are talking about it is proven that 6 bolt motors can handle more HP than a 7 bolt motor.

Yeah, but most 92s are 6 bolts. What you don't understand is that cars built up to April or May of 92 had 6 bolts. Most 92 models were built in 91 and early 92. By the time April or May of 92 rolled around and they switched to making 7 bolts, they were just finishing production of 92 models and were about to begin on making 93s.

i disagree. get a wiseman in here.
Aren't the rods generally the limiting factor in power production for a stock block? Ever compared a 6 bolt and a 7 bolt rod?

Do some research it has been brought up before many times that a stock 6 bolt motor can handle more than a stock 7 bolt motor.

1g rods are stronger than the 2g rods from what most people say. but the 2g pistons are better than the 1g's. there for 1g rods machined to fit 2g pistons would be the best if you are staying with stock internals. most shops will say that 1g rods and 2g pistons in a 6bolt is good for about 500hp.
