The rich mommy and daddy statement was kinda low man... I mean just cause my parents are well off doesn't mean that they dumped all of their money into MY project... I told them what was gonna be done to this car they said okay but don't ask for help... I made all my car payments, and I made all the money for the motors/mods that went into the car.. And trust me buddy, livin on your own at 19 with cell phone, ins, rent is bad enough.... It puts a pretty big halt on working on the car and a job as a car salesman deffinately doesn'tt cut the cake. not everyone digs v-dubs... I understand going through rough patches, I've had to make several sacrifices such as living in a DD for a week because I was avoiding my landlord because my pay check was coming in late and he didn't understand.. I had to sell some of the stuff I had saved up to put in my dsm and it made me pretty butthurt, The only thing I see thats a problem and mind that this is my opnion is that I know someone who would have paid good money for that shell how it was, like I said probably more than the junk yard I showed my friend and he was like astounded cause he's wanting to get into dsms, and that would have been a perfect start for him. But like I said man, we can't hate you for this, and I'm sure most of us can understand where you're coming from with the rough financial patch, at one point I'm sure everyone has been there and you're right "you gotta do what you gotta do" My pointless rabble just hit me that I'm not really saing anything important so I should probably stop...
I do however want to know if you're going to get another one as soon as you get back up on your feet or are you done with the DSMs for good?

a car may get destroyed but it lives on in the cars that it may have saved

Sorry to hear it man. I just lost my job too. It's a shitty situation. I'm doing all i can to keep my car tho.:thumb:

Wow, what a thread to read. Lol entertaining I tell ya, especially when you're bored at work :)

Lol yes especially when bored at work haha. Sucks to see that happen to a DSM though :( my car gets little scratches out of no where and it sucks hardcore but to see that is just :( saddening when it comes to the car world.

Update: THANK YOU EVERYONE FOR YOUR SUPPORT :) with the money that I got back out of my car, It helped pay for some tuition towards school and the rest went to a very reliable car. 08 Fusion SEL AWD (24K) I appriciate everything you guys have done, this will not be goodbye as I still love these cars! again RIP GST :(

I still don't see why you crushed it. I understand getting out of DSMs, but the crush was stupid. Family absolutely comes first. You should have got the '09 Fusion. Leaps & bounds over that one.

Having a sentimental attachment towards a car is nothing to make fun of people for. Learning to let go of what you become attached to is something everyone has to deal with at some point, but that should never hold anyone back from becoming attached, enjoying the good times, accepting you have to let go when the time comes, and keeping the memories. Live and let live.

youd be surprised how much $$$ you can get out of a full partout as compared to selling the car as stock. Especially if you know your local dsm market, and have the time to baby-sit FS threads all day (a desk job with full open internet helps).

hell just random engine bay brackets and shit, if cleaned off and polished back to their cleaner zinc-chromate finish, can bring in around $50. Box of super clean under-dash bolts? $30.

We took a GST Spyder that was wrecked in a front collision (belonged to a previous local so we knew what mods it had) and totally gutted the car and parted it out. We bought it for $800 (me and a buddy put $400 each). My payoff was keeping the shep tranny, 14b+install, and whatever else i wanted. He sold off everything else (motor, suspension, etc) and made $3k profit. We also pulled the convertible top assy right out and sold it to a Chrysler dealership for $600. He got $600 for the motor (ran fine- oil pan to valve cover w/manifolds and ancillary items like alt/ac/etc). Its just all the little stuff that adds up. Ship everything usps flat-rate and call it a day.

as a husband and step father i would do the same if i had/have to. right now i have 2 cherokees up for sale to make ends meet. if the built one dont go it may have the same fate. i completely understand i give you probs man. not many people have the balls to or will do what it take.

Yeah that REALLY sucks, but I totally understand. I sold my awd 2g for 3500, I had about 8000 into it. But that was 08, the economy really shit on me and I went back to college, and couldn't afford the payments, insurance, or the near constant repair/upgrades.
Maybe I would have been better off going this route. But I still owed $2000 on it, so I don't think this would have been feasible.

I wanted AWD, low miles, a warranty and something I can rely on for the next few years while I turn my life around. Maybe one day i will get another DSM but those type of plans are far from near. It was hard enough to fully pay for this 08model, its got every feature except for back up alarm... who needs that anyway. the 2010 version is what you were meaning, its completly different and has the new 3.5vvt 263hp vs I have the 3.0vvt 221hp. Not affordable when I was paying cash for a car and paying for school as well. Im happy with what I now have.

Once again, it was my car, I did what I had to do.

I know why he crushed it. Something called priorities. It appears not living in a box is a higher priority than having a DSM as a hobby. The OP has stated multiple times he is happy and isn't that all that matters?

wow.. i remember when i drove up there to pick up the fmic. I knew times were rough as we vaguely talked about it but WOW. the video was worse than titanic...ok..not worse..but still. major props for realizing the true priorities in life.
