2g 7bolt in a 1g?

i want to take the 7bolt out of my 97 and put it in the 93 that has a 6bolt swap done. and i also wanna put the 6bolt out of the 1g in my 2g. what do i need to do?!
 
Why do you want to do that? But yeah, if your 1g had the 7bolt block, I do believe it will drop right in. But again, why?
 
because i bought the 1g for the 6bolt that was in it. its board .40 over and has a head with only 600 miles on it and only 700 on the block but the block locked up. and im just going to sell the 1g with my motor in it so i can rebuild the 6bolt and put it in the 2g
 
yeah i know. i dont think it is locked up. i could turn the flywheel when i was taking it out. idk whats going on but i have another block if its bad
 
The 7 bolt block won't install in a 1g that easy. 1g's have the front mount on the block and the 2g's on the transmission so unless you fab a custom front mount you should be ok... Come to think, I believe the rear mount is also like that, I can't remember on that but I am sure about the front one though
 
The thing is though, is that the 1g came with both 6 and 7 bolt engines. I don't see why the 7 bolt motor would bolt up differently. Easiest way to check is to look at the mounting points...
 
yea, i don't think it will be as easy as you think. even though the the 1gs' had seven bolt engines, the mounting set-up was the same as a b bolt. on a 1g car, the two mounts were on the block. one goes to the sub frame near the dash, and the other one mounted to the cross-member i beleive. on the 2g these mounts were on the transmission. someone correct me if i'm wrong
 
A 1g 4g63 regardless if its a 6 bolt or 7bolt will need some fab of the motor mount to fit in a 2g and its vice versa with the a 2g in a 1g.

You are corect. The 2g has the side mounts on the transmission. Unless the 2g had a 1g 7bolt swap LOL. This swap would only be pocible if you put in a 2g trans into the 1g and fab up some custom side mounts. Do not try to use the one out of your 2g you will need it LOL

Nate6663 If you were near by I would give you a 6 bolt to build for your 2g I have 2 laying around that I can not use for my project car.
 
so are you saying the rollstops on the engine keep it from mounting?? the block has the imrovisions on it doesn't it??
 
The 2G block only has a provision for a rear roll stop bracket. The front of the block has no provisions whatsoever. Since a 1G uses the block for the mounting points of the roll stops and a 2G uses the transmission, it makes it a little less than ideal of a swap putting a 2G engine in a 1G.
