Just purchased this Laser RS N/T as a project car. Balance shaft belt broke and the timing must have skipped. Anyway, every intake valve is bent and was going to replace the head, but a bit concerned for the pistons. These are the pics...

Slap a new head and go or pull the pan? Great forum by the way.

Clean em, grind off any little spurs of metal where the contact occured, and reuse the pistons. They're fine.

Slap a new head on it. I just had a timing belt skip 3 teeth all the intake valves smacked the pistons and left a bigger groove in then that and I just replaced the valves and put it back together and have had no issues at all and the compression check was in spec.

the dont look that bad.it does look like the is some scoring on the cly. walls

True, the cyl walls look like crap.

If it still has decent compression i'd just run it. Not worth spending 3x the value of the car to rebuild a bottom end.

that is true man, but if he want to take it from n/t to turbo i would rebuild it.if it was gonna be a dd i slap it a head and see what happens

Thanks for the quick replies. Not wanting to repair the head just yet, think I'll look for a pulled one.
