If i have a 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS, would that make my car a 2g non - turbo dsm? And also, is there a way i can put turbo's on my GS, that is what i would really like to do.

1. Yes, you have a dodge motor, also found in neons. the engine code is 420a
2. Yes go to www.hahnracecraft.com , i however do not recommend turbocharging the 420a. I had one and i sold it for a turbo talon awd. Look into it some, if you decide to turbo your car then thats cool, if not, then im glad i could help.

i sold my 96 eclipse rs for 5000
bought 96 talon tsi awd for 5500 in similar condition (actually better with a little bit more miles)
that is 500 dollars for turbo and all wheel drive

your turbo kit will cost you over 2000, well over.

Maybe he likes his 420A...and just wants soemthign that has better pickup...I'd turbo my RS if i could and keep that for awhile instead of tryign to get an 4g63t...i dunno soemg uys liek the car they have....i'd rather tubo my RS with 70,000 on it then buy a Tubo model with 100,000 plus on it...and...you knwo the owner beat on his turboed car...my car was 1 owner soem lady in PA...i doubt she beat on it which would make me wodnerwhy i woudl wanna cahcne a higher milage car....Just my OPINION

i understand what your saying, i owned a 420a for over 4 years, and a 4g63 for one. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, im just saying that from experience, i would buy the turbo awd if you want a quick daily driver. 4g63 has given me less problems and the interior is so much nice.. then again, the 420a was kind of not taken care of as well, as i was learning regular maintenance, how to drive, how to race on it etc. It was a very good first car.. i loved that thing.

It just doesn't seem worthwhile to me to put WELL over $3,000 into a 420a (turbo kit + built internals + every imaginable bolt-on) to run ~8psi and dyno ~225hp. You can find a stock 1g AWD for less than 3k and be quite a bit quicker already. Why not keep a nice 2g N/T as a reliable daily driver and then put the money towards a different DSM where you won't have to worry about down-time? I know that's just your opinion though, don't get me wrong.

darkstarskaterb -- Denji answered your Q's already, but you also said turbo's.. we don't do twin turbo's, one is enough :thumb:

Yes that would. And, does.

Ah..... well, yes. It's possible to turbocharge a car that wasn't built that way. It used to be a clever and cost-evading scheme of getting high performance. That was when there were several thousands of dollars between the cost of a normally-aspirated car and a turbo. It didn't make a lot of sense then, and it makes a fair amount less as each day these cars get cheaper and cheaper. Actually, it never did make sense, but as a turbo owner I'm not allowed to say that because I'm an elitist jerk.
The reason it doesn't make sense -despite those thousands who've done it, and had "success" with it (until the motor blew, often from melting a piston), or those hundreds who've done it and not cooked the mill, yet- is that turbocharging is a huge load on an engine in just about every regard. Mitsubishi did a rather remarkable job on the 4G63T, the boogieman of crankwalk be damned. The sheer number of surviving turbos demonstrates this, and all the more vividly in light of how few are still stock.
At this point in DSM history, it will cost you more to do the turbo add-on (which is not a conversion, despite the common language to that effect) than to save up the money and put it and your N/A toward a factory turbo.
And, now we'll hear from everyone who's done it to tell me how full of shit I am.
