I know the giy you are replacing , well ive talked to himAs much as, I really enjoyed pipe welding and such. I always knew that I got into welding because of cars and my passion.
Just got a job at TopSpeed Motorsports! And even though I will be making a lot of parts for GTRs, the dsm's are still my thing
Unfortunately, i'm the only welder/fabricator here, so there will be a lot of very long nights and weekends....

I sold collectors to him for an r35 build. Look up schmidtbuilt on IGWell, that makes you one step ahead. I kind of wish, I could talk to him.
I built my positioner from scratch. Homebrew style.Duuude! What positioner do you use? I was looking at the Mk cobra turn
What size cup are you running? And what is the regulator set at?What kinda tig cups do you use? I have a WP26 torch and bought some ebay lenses (because surely they can't mess this up) but they don't work for crap. I ran the same gas CFH with a traditional ceramic cup and welded just fine then switched over to the lenses with the glass cups and it squeals/smokes/spatters like crap.
I can feel the argon coming out of the cup but somehow its not shielding adequately.
nothing wrong with ur aluminium skillWas a very sad day for me yesterday at the shop, the skyline came out of my bay Now, one of our top techs is going to start finishing it up and getting it ready for the dyno.
This was by far the biggest build I've ever done and was even surprised the owner wanted me to get this car done from start to finish. They have other more experienced venues they could've gone with.
Aluminum is not my biggest strength but here it is anyways
The discharge pipe

Had to modify the compressor cover and throttle body to accept the vibrant flex couplings

The cold side was a little tricky too, but manageable. I didn't have to use the pies on it but the owner wanted me to put some in. I didn't mind either

The catch can that is designed to flow for 1000 hp and not spray oil all over the engine bay. Unfortunately, I can't show the insides

This car is setup to attend a lot of car shows in the future.
It wasn't the easiest project and there were quite a few sleepless late nights here at the shop. A lot of little things that are not in the pictures...
I'm going to try to take some pictures after it's fully assembled back up before it leaves the shop!
Super jealous you got to work on an R34.
How is it even in the states right now? I know motorex was importing them until they got shut down. From what I read all the skylines from that were impounded.
