You chose GT35r or holset hx-35/40?

Lol it's ok man your no longer a garret guy you crossed over to the dark side haha. I have to admit your results with the 4088r are very impressive but the s374 will surpass those numbers.

I hope so, considering it is a bit larger.

63mm/88mm compressor vs. a 74mm/101mm compressor is a small upgrade.... :D

I am trying a different product to prove its capability and give all the results to the public so they can be better informed of a product on the market. I already know what a Garrett Product can do, and have given all of my data supporting it.

It is just something I like to do. Help others.

There's only one reason why I havn't given out my results. And there's only one reason why holsets arn't on dsmtimes.org. . . No other possible reason at all:aha:.

I`m sorry, after noticing that your FWD asking for your ET isn`t really fair of me! What kind of trap speeds are you seeingÉ

2deep (Kevin) and I are frequent at the local drag strip. I definitely do not judge someones experience based on post counts. Kev's a good guy and he's simply stating that the lack of results after 1.53 x 10^7 posts in over 10+ threads is kinda odd. Few will say that Holsets are in their infancy. I disagree. These turbos have been available for 5+ years on the DSM scene now.

Ummmmm... I never netted a low 11 on a full HX-35. I went high 11s. I'll be honest, I wasn't impressed with the HX-35. Small compressor wheel if you ask me. 50trim-like if you will.

Of course. It flows about as much as a 50 trim :) .

I'm not looking down on any one here. I don't know Kevin at all. Sean, that wasn't nice.

I forgot about your results, Tim. Sorry for the misinformation. Holsets definately still are in their infancy. How many have taken a holset powered dsm to a track?

Few. Most are still on jackstands talking about their stuff. :sneaky:

Sorry...I had to, it was just too easy. ROFL ROFL ROFL

That's the point. Not very many at all. Maybe a half dozen that I have ever even heard about.

And no one can get mad at you for the truth.

I have never once said that Holset turbos are crap and don't perform...... I've seen first hand what Tim was able to do with pump gas/ street tires. I was impressed and happy as $hit for him! People get too defensive, but I guess its just human nature!

I was giving them credit right there with a previous post which you choose to ignore! I don't see why you feel the need to defend Holsets to the death! Why such a hate for the GT35R turbo?

I remember when I first got my Holset going, I felt like I was in a race with all the other Holset owners to get their cars running and to the track. 2 years later and I'm disappointed in the lack of results and all the talks about housing sizes, billet components and wheel blade counts.

. . .I'll tell you my take on why. You have guys yelling there's no proof. Everyone is scared away except for those that have seen the proof given or just don't care because they want to do something new or different. All that's left are group of guys chatting about installation.

2deep. It is NOT about my horn. What would this car net in the 1/4 mile? If you REALLY care about results, you'd look where performance builders use holsets.

I would agree that i have not seen as many Holset results as i would have liked to. 1/4mile,dyno, and even in-car vids(which i love). I ran an HX-35 on my talon 3 years ago. Although I never quite got the setup(internal wg :notgood:) to work the way i liked, and turo blew prematurely after about 2-2500k miles(my fault :ohdamn:) It seems as though are quite a bit of people with them on their cars! They are very potent turbos for the price compared to its competitors
I'll be running a 20g for the first half of season to reach 400whp, but my next upgrade is leaning towards the Hx-40 6/7 blade!

But lets GET TO THE TRACK!! . . . I'm deperately working on my 5speed swap right now for this AWD shell I have (laptops on the roof of the car now :) ). I just got my turbo on my car about the middle of last season. I will be at the track this year. Those that are jsut in it to swap in a cool turbo, please let's step up to the plate. There are several whove made good results right out of the box so don't be leary. My track is 3hours away 2 states up ( have to go through MD to get to delmar). Just DO IT!

Says the deadbeat lurker with like .00000000000000000001 post per day :hmm:QUOTE]

Check out my join date, I've been on this forum ALOT longer than yourself! I've been working on/racing DSMs a lot longer than that too! And I hope your not equating race knowledge/experience with post counts :heystupid:

Hate on me all you want for stating facts, its not going to make me any slower or you any faster!

DSM-onster, what kind of ETs have you had with your holset :idontknow:

Tim, you know I still love you! You actually get out to the track and provide real world numbers.

Well I hope your YEARS of experience can net you a little better than mid 11 sec slips with dbb t67 or 3575 whichever it is you used because there are guys with hx40's doing that on pump :hellyeah:

I'm not one to hype up a build till it's done but your welcome to go take a look at my build thread. I think I have been around long enough to know a thing or two about building a dsm ;)

By the way my dick swinging comment was a joke but I brought up your obvious lurker nature because to me if your a knowledgable person who has been on this site for 6 years you should be helping out others too not just feeding of the site like a vampire. I don't have 8 stars or a wiseman status but while searching for information I need if I see someone I can help I do

I've been in that thread numerous times! In fact I've spent a lot of time reading thru the various Holset threads over the years.

I know you have DSMlink, so I take it you've seen/heard the name Tony T aka DSMu4ia, he has made 721whp with only 33psi falling to 31psi on a standard GT35R.... no spray!

Again, if money were no issue a GT35R would be my choice, if I were trying to save $ then it would be the Holset!

I look forward to seeing your results! Keep up the good work!

MUCH better turbine housing and exhaust manifold design. Makes a big difference.

Remember the OP said if money was of no concern! :p

:thumb:Then give the holset some credit. the 653whp hx40 car has a .55 a/r bep housing with a nonported 2g head; and not a he!!a flowing shearer top mount exhaust manifold ported 1g head and a .82 a/r tial housing with 9:1 CR. I've seen Tony's setup. If you spend that kind of money on the turbo, you spend that kind of money on everything else.

I went with a billet (HTA) HX40 pro because it was under 500 bucks, rebuildable, and should net similar numbers as an HTA 35R or 4088R. However if money was not part of the equation I probably would have gone BB Garrett as well. Then again, if money was not an issue, I would be modifying a Ferrari instead of a DSM. :p

For the record Tim, didn't you do 121 MPH with a nearly stock weight car with the 8blade compressor? At only 26psi? Click. Wasn't she running 11.6 with a botched tranny?

While this is true, the 60mm wheel puts it to shame.

I agree :) .

There was more in the hx35 compressor wheel though. 26psi is nothing. I just think you had more in the setup as it was. But I am very glad you upgraded! An 11mph increase in trap speed is incredible!

It depends if you want to go with a Garrett T3 manifold and fab up an o2 housing or not.

If you want to stick with a Mitsu housing, then the HX35 / HX40 would be the way to go. Actually, I'd prefer the Holsets over a ball-bearing GT any day, but it's hard to pass up a good deal. The HX35 is comparable to a 50-trim Garrett on steroids- the HX40 is more versatile in overall performance than the GT35R.

Is the GT35R new?

Referring to this post, if I was looking at a BB 50 trim to make no more then 450awhp on a 2.3l and 91 oct, the hx35 would do the same, spool quicker, with less boost and still be able to make more power down the road?

to me the hx40 just seemed like a better deal, it should perform as well if not better then the 35r on a street car and the money i saved i put towards my 2.3 stroker that I pick up in 2 more days:)
