Curious if anyone has had a hard time finding a windshield replacement for a 2g lately? I've got a cracked one and i've called two companies who have now said its no longer being manufactured so can't help me out. Located in Toronto Canada if that makes a difference.

Thanks

I was looking for one a couple years ago. Never found one. I just gave up since mine only has rock chips and no cracks. Best bet is probably trying to remove one from a junkyard or parts car. That's what we have to do for quarter windows.

Edit: I just found this

I'm not sure if they ship to Canada though. And just because it says in stock it might actually be on back order. That's how most of those Mitsubishi parts websites work, they'll email you after you've paid for it to let you know they don't even have it.

A few locals have had safelite come out in the recent years, I know safelite isn’t in Canada as you said but says the glass was out there until recently anyway. My buddy even had safelite do one in his 1g 2 years ago, we were shocked they could get that one.

Thank you. i've reached out to them to see along with safelite. Haven't had any luck yet though

I had mine replaced a few months ago for under $300 total. The warehouse had lied about having one with the mirror mount attached (they could get one in two days) but I elected to go with the one without and just have them transfer the mirror mount themselves because I was rushed. Cheap and readily available. I didn't bother asking Safelite because $$$$.

They also told me that they could get the rear glass well but it was quite pricey. I think $550 for the glass, plus installation. Whatever the cost was, I don't value the rear defrost elements THAT much. Although we'll see if that changes when I drive it this winter.

My glass man told me, the last time I had a windshield replaced, that if SAFELITE would have come out and done it, they would have pulled my windshield (1999 I30 Infiniti), saw the rust in one spot and then they would have packed up and left. He told me they don't mess with anything that is rusted because of warranty purposes but assured me that they wouldn't have put it back in. I am glad I have my personal windshield man; he always takes care of me!

I had a similar situation on a 97 Corolla. Safelite came out to replace the windshield, they tore out the seal, dug their pick around the outside of the glass and said the upper pinch weld was rusted and "unsafe." They gave me an excuse that had something to do with the passenger side airbag and if it went off, it impacts the windshield and that rusted pinch weld was not strong enough to properly deploy the airbag (or something like that). Seemed kind of far-fetched but they refused to complete the replacement and left me with a leaky seal. I ended up taking it to a body shop so they could fix/paint the pinch weld, and the body shop called in their "glass man" to finish it.

I'm not sure if rust around the windshield is a problem with DSMs. I've never had a problem replacing mine, granted it was over 10 years ago when I had it done last. That was a local DSM group buy, so the glass man was more or less off the clock.
