Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

Go with a 14b, they can put down 300hp. If you are looking for more than 275-300 i'd go ahead and step up to an EvoIII, just make sure have supporting mods

im not. im looking to sell it .

eclipses are like kids...they eat up all my money and time , stress me out , and are useually leaking something or making a noise in public.

it be cool if i wasnt so busy , but being my only car and having Calculus , Chem and Physics right now + work ..its a living hell

These cars are meant for those who can withstand them more.
In your case i would just look for a used t25 and call it a day.

I understand how frustrating it is with school. I just finished a bachelor in biology. i remember taking organic chem, cal, and physics in one semester trying to get ahead. Hang in there bro.
A t4 turbo is gonna go way over your budget, and you will need to replace your exhaust manifold. The flanges will not work, you will need a t4 manifold also. If you are just going to sell it, just find a good used t25 on the classifieds or ebay for about 75 or 100 and get it done . Good luck man.:thumb:

I recommend the evo III 16g, since its a budget turbo with a high output. All the lines from your 14b (water/oil) will bolt on directly. You do not have to purchase a new exhaust manifold, although I would recommend upgrading to the Forced Preformance manifold, and you can just buy the turbo from them, I think its about $599 and you can have it ported and clipped. Also you might want to upgrade your o2 housing. Total it should be under 900 if you do the work yourself, and you can, its all bolt-on and pretty easy. Just remember with a new turbo and higher output, you may want to replace some gaskets and worn conponents.

As Mrdrd_Laser stated, make sure you have to supporting mods for it. Look into new fuel injectors, and fuel pump

Currently I am running that same set up. 301 whp.

Like dsmj and phantom said just get a t-25. Why spend the extra dough on a install kit for a mitsu turbo or search for extra hardware for a t4 if your gonna be selling the 2g.

If you can't keep up with a dsm its gonna be problem so do whats in your best interest. But really their aint no other car out there that is better then a dsm in my eyes. Haha maybe a TT Supra.

will a t4 work and is it better or worse than what i have now?

A T4 housing turbo will not bolt up to your manifold. Try the classifieds here, dsmtrader, com, talk, craigslist or ebay. You will need a T25, which is a factory 2nd gen turbo. Do not buy anything else if you just want a bolt -on , easy replacement; even if it is cheaper.

agentorange313, First check what car he's driving its a 2g which equals him having a t25 not 14b. And read the posts before your's. He wants to spend less than $200 everything you are saying is over $1000.

+1 on the finding a used t25. No reason to upgrade anything if you aren't going to be having any fun with the finished product!

I posted a wanted ad on Craigslist. Got about 6 calls and bought a 16g for $80, with no shaft play, that has worked out fine.

Its "which", why spend alot of money on an ebay turbo. I run that same companies e3 16g and im a good launch away from the 12s in a full weight and subwoofer 2g...

Have you done any research? You know when upgrading to evo 3 or 20g you will need

supporting mods ie. fuel, tuning, monitoring and exhaust. I'd go with the evo 3, but the

link you posted that turbo looks like a knockoff, sure it has the install kit but those

turbos suck and that exhaust manifold will crack in an instance from the heat. Do some

research and choose what works with your budget. Have you looked into a t-28?

sorry for the misspelling not that great of a speller. I'm also a newb for these forums. well I'm not all stock i have 3in down pipe and 3in full exhaust and i also have a hp 255 Walbro fuel pump.and 2100 act clutch. my goal is to run around 450 whp. i don't really know that much i just bout my car so I'm a newbe with the dsm =]

450 I'd go for a 50 trim/.63 a/r housing at least. Check forced performance or if your on a budget like I was goto www.cheapturbos.com thats where I got my Garrett 50 trim journal for $620. Also Phoenix turbo is pretty reputable.

I have a suggestion: If your goal is about 450 whp, then a 50 trim will do it for you. However, Im going to discourage you from going out and buying a turbo right away because there is much you can do to prepare yourself before the upgrade. Taking the steps to put all of the necessary pieces into place will give you less headache and a more reliable vehicle.

Think of it like this: You already have a 3" DP and catback. Are you going to run your turbo with an internal gate? It would be wise to invest in an external off the o2 housing or manifold collector to help control boost. (I didnt have very good luck with the internal gate on my g50; Save yourself the trouble) There's also, fuel pumps, afpr's, injectors, tuning equipment, fmic kits, drivetrain parts, etc. Its all about supporting mods, my friend.

Edit: the search feature will give you your answer 95% of the time.
