Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

Green92gsx, look at post #16. It will explain everything. The original poster made a comment about Marco's long tube header. I thought I would show him a picture to see how big the GT-42 really is. I went 124mph up here with the 60-1. The 12.1 et was from a stock ECU'd car with now launch features and horrible boost recovery.

I am not here to start an arguement. I sold that 450whp 1G last year. Yea I "only" made 450hp. The drag car has done nothing more than move around the driveway. When we get around to it it will go on the dyno. Other things and other cars are a priority right now. Sorry a 124mph and 450hp car at 5800ft is disappointing to you.

I would compare what other cars run up here but I am tired of defending myself. I just offered Precision a thought on thinking about a good size turbo. If he likes to drag race of course. That is my only passion as all out performance is all I am interested in. Road course and autocross don't interest me and are harder on a car than I would like. I will sacrafice any street performance and drivabilty for those goals.

Good luck with your decision Precision and this will be my last post in this thread. Don't need to argue as its only a turbo selection for another man. Its just the internet. I found those pictures on the Buschur forums this morning. They were like the first post on the page at the time. So I only browse dsm forums.

Ok after a good month of researching, I have decided when I upgrade my turbo it will be to a 20g. Now the only one's I seen or heard about is SBR standard 20g, Hahn's 20g, and FP's 20G. I have decided I would get either SBR OR FP. Both are right about the same price. Both companies are known for high quality products, so it's been hard choosing which one to upgrade to.

Are there any differences in these 20g's? Any input would greatly be appreciated. Thanks :thumb:

My input would be better placed if I knew what all you had done to your motor. Generally my best advice would be not to spend money on a 20g, you should have a 14b stock yeah? I would score up a 16g off ebay or something because if your not looking at running persau over 15lbs it's a very good turbo. Again I don't know what all you have done, so maybe you are ready for a 20g. But I have a 16g in mine (stock) and I have a friend with a 20g, and mine is hella faster than his.

Oh I'm nowhere near ready for a 20g yet. I am just planning and deciding now, so when its time to upgrade I'm not here for a month. Exhaust will be here in a week in a half, and fuel mods are right after. I was just looking for reviews from anyone with any experience with either of these turbos.

I was turned away by the thread of the 16g and their dyno #'s. Alot of people floating around the 290-315awhp. Don't get me wrong the evo 16g is a great turbo upgrade, I'm just looking for something a bit stronger. I'm looking more for 375-400awhp. Thats why I chose the 20g over the 16g.

So anyone with experience with either these two turbos, would be appreciated. :thumb:

you might consider some of the mitsu/garrett hybrids. quiet a few of the can make just as much power or more than the good ol 20g and cost less. i myself am leaning towards a t04e w/ the bullseye housing. granted the 20g is tried an true but i want the most bang for my buck if you will.

Just get a 50 trim. Its cheaper than a 20g and performs about the same if not better depending on supporting mods of course.

i was debating over the 50 trim over a 20g for the last 2 months. can't really find a difference between the 2 except price & dependability. anyone can give me more information on both turbos so i can make a final decision already. besides fp if i was thinking of a 50 trim i would purchase rs49-t. but can anyone post up some more info on both 50 trim and 20g. you know flow #'s, max boost, max hp rating on both. i research alot of specs for both just some i havent got. i dont plan on skipping out on any supporting mods. which do you guys think will perform better with the same supporting mods? any input can help thanks tuners :thumb:

The original question was which 20G, correct? Not wether to buy a 20G, 16G, 50 trim, etc..?

FP or SBR? Depends on which is more important: price or quality.

SBR is probably cheaper, by a little bit anyway.

FP is known for being probably the number one source for quality turbos, and they back there stuff up.

So if you want to go as cheap as possible, go SBR. If you care more about a higher level of service, go with FP.

The turbo is the same, regardless of who you buy it from. Unless you have porting, clipping or other custom work done, in which case FP would be who I would go with.

Please tell us the turbo you're using on your 2.3/2.4's and list spool times versus rpm's. I'd imagine your mods would be listed in your profiles incase I/we wanted to look at your total setup. Just trying to get an idea. Thanks!

FPRED 3900-4100 28psi :thumb:

I have a 1990 plymouth laser FWD (like all lasers). I am wondering which turbo will best suit my need. I am looking for osmehting under 900 and bolts on to a 2g manifold.

Goals:
380 WHP on 91 octane, around 410 on race
Im shifting at 7800-8k so it need to boost up there
I want somehting that still spools quickly. I am gonna be dragging this and auto Xin
Needs to be ok around 25-28 pounds of boost

Here's my car. (if some of this stuff is not done, it will be done before the swap)
Rebuilt longblock, Basically everyhintg done (oil gears, torqued, all the goods). 1mm oversized valves, 7.8:1 pistons, 4 layer gasket.
FMIC
264/264 HKS cams
720 CC injectors
DSM Link
Walboro 255 with AFPR
3" GM Maf w/translator. Might do a blowthrough setup
3"turbo back exhaust
2g ported
My o2 depends on the turbo I get

Can't think of anyhting else I will be getting that has to do with the engine. Obviouslt I will be doing some transmission work/LSD's/Axles/ ect. I just wanna know what would be the best turbo to meet my goals.

At the moment i have bullseyes super 50 trim and its very sick turbo up top....it spools at 4k and just pulls all the way up top. I really dont think you can have turbo that will make 380whp on 91 octane and still maintain quick spool. But like i said the turbo i have right now just hauls ass at 20psi where i run it right now and thats where it starts to wake up.

Ok I have done some digging around but alot of what I found wasn't exactly applicable to me.

I've got everything back together on my car except for a new turbo and I've got the dough to spend this week.

My profile has my mods list but for sake of simplicity the important stuff is:
6bolt swap - complete SB/H/IM - wiseco 9:1's w/ balanced 1g rods
EVO VIII FMIC
650cc Injectors
Walbro 255hp w/ rewire
Hard intake piping and 2.5" Short Route FMIC Piping w/ a Crushed 1g bov
Ported 2g manifold
Ported o2 housing
3" Megan Catless DP w/ 3" Extreme Catback
I have my pick of an Emanage blue or SAFC-II to toss in for tuning that are sitting in my garage. Also have a GM MAF w/ Translator on my 2g stratus coupe I could use (yes that's turbo'd too :p)

I don't want to go external and I'm not really looking to swap out my exhaust manifold right now. That means I have to have a mitsu housing as I don't want to swap my DP or o2 housing either. I want 400awhp on pump gas for my daily driver. I got AWD so I'd like boost to come on as soon as possible. I don't care how many PSI I hit as long as I get to 400awhp.

I've been looking at the Bullseye T04B H3 Trim, it's pretty much in the ballpark of what I want to spend. I really don't wanna go over 900 on the turbo as I have another project car that still needs a lot of loving. DBB would be nice but the price tag makes me gag... :D

I know I'll probably have to swap out that cheesy BM fuel regulator for a real unit and I know I need a new clutch. I'll have to wait for a month or two until I can swing that. Cams are a possibility down the line but I think it's possible to hit the power output I want without adding anything else to what I currently have.. ?

With that being said, what other options do I have besides the T04B H3 Trim?

Your hints, suggestions and flames are greatly appreciated. :thumb:

I'v got bullseyes super 50 trim and that thing should get you in that range...i just got my car on the road yesterday and that thing hauls ass. I'm runing 20psi right now runing pig rich and the turbo just pulls very hard although it is laggier then the standard 50 trim. Boost came on at right on at 4k rpm's and it just pulled all the way to the redline like i had cams in the car too. It deff gets :thumb: from me.

using FP big T-28 on 2.4 still building engine. Primarily for street use so we wanted it to spool real quick. Hoping for full spool (25PSI) at 3000 rpm. power band set from 2500-6500 rpm.

Holset Hx-40 with a Bullseye exhaust housing. Spools to ~20psi around ~4000 in 3rd gear.

please tell me ya didn't run a 13 sec. time with a stroker and that turbo. WTF hoping you just haven't had any track times or haven't updated your profile yet.

Unfortunatly yes. Was my first time racing at the track. Suffering from alot of issues that aren't turbo related. Right now I'm stuck on 550s. That run was at ~14 psi. My logger had died, and I've got 4 completely blown shocks. I'm no tuning expert either. Just didn't have the money to get the few things that I need to take care of done, nor the time to do them.

I know my times suck...Next spring they should get much better ;)

2.4 stroker w/ Holset HX-35w

Don't have a spool time yet because as soon as I broke the engine in I hit a deer. Engine/tranny is currently being swapped into a new tsi awd.
