Which Turbo Should I Get [merged] What Turbo

Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.
 
Dammit you beat me to the punch. Ya there is a whole section even titled nt conversion or something to that effect. :thumb:
 
Ok, sorry, i shouldve posted this question there. Wasn't thinking about that forum...

I have read all through the forums... but i really don't know what turbo to get for what im wanting... im going to do a custom job, not a kit.

I just need to know what actual turbo will be best for a dail driver 420a that i want to run 12 - 13's...

Stick with the weight reduction plan, hold off on the spray, you're only adding another variable that could result in mixed results. And why did you get 264s? I'd at least get a 272 exhaust cam with that turbo.

Blitz, why not just get a TD06H-20g? It'll spool the same and have a bit more top end.

a kit....ask most of the guys that have the turbo 420s... Alot will say not to even do it. To some it is worth the hastle, to some its not. Its up to you. I dont recommend a turbod car not from the factory as a DD for anyone personally.
 
ive thought a lot about it and its what i want to do... i may not ever reach 12's, but its my goal... hopefully my money situation will change sometime in the near future and i can buy a GSX or maybe even a supra (druel), but for now im gonna build my car up...

anyways... we've wasted 4 replies w/o any useful information pertaining to the question...

forced performance 3065 if you MUST upgrade. Single digit capable.

But honestly keep working at it you're having success and have a fast car. Why fix it if its not broken.

cause he's really good at chemistry. I think he's one of the few who could put some thing like a 3065 to good use.
 
Im not asking what turbo to get because i dont know anything about turbos... ive never had one, and dont have much experience with them, so I wanted opionions on which one would be the best for what I want... why is everyone so ready to jump on someone for what they want to do, just because they think they know more...?!?!
 
I got 264's because I got an awesome deal on them. I don't think 272's will make a night and day difference in performance.Also my car is still driven everyday and need a camshaft upgrade alot smoother than my old Webs 546/547.....that idled like a bridge-ported rotarty car.I'm looking for more bottom end torque something the webs didn't have zeroed out.I love to play around ajusting my Fidanza cam gears to get some gains. I like to retard exhaust cams and see how the car responds to them.Weight reduction I still have quiet few to do.....rear bumper support,lightweight seats,15" or 16" lightweight wheels,seat belt motors,sound deadening,a/c been gone,cf hood.Oh yeah gotta order ZEX wet kit asap
 
Good to see the die-hard 20g crowd still exists !! I'm going to be running mine at least one more season with a few additional mods to see just how far the car can be pushed. Still need to pull some more weight out of the car and try to improve on my driving. Good luck guys...see you out there! :talon:
 
Thats my plan also. But im running a b16g. Im gonna try break the speed and 1/4 mile record for it, or at least get close b4 i upgrade. Will also help me perfect my tunning skills
 
next month im planning to get the blow thru maft system then i will get the remaining fuel mods before getting the 20g (660cc, fpr, 255lph, fuel filter)

I want around 400 whp on pump. what turbo should get me there. dont want to spend much over $1,000 and would like an internal w/g. Not too worried about spool since I have a fwd and dont get traction for sh!t at low speeds. Sick of the 18g and want a turbo that is going to pull harder (highway killer). This is going on a daily driver.

So what route do u guys think I should go?
 
Yep, www.agpturbo.com. They have an RS49T on sale for $699. Polished comp housing, 1 year warranty and the awesome Bullseye turbine housing. Add $100. for some VERY nice oil lines and another $100. for the internal gate. I just sold my RS49 and went with the RS60T. Mark
