Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

their not saying that a wide band and cams will get you the extra 100whp, but to use those as tools in building up to your 400whp goal. this might be alittle extreme but i love my fp3575 @ 24lbs. on pump! it's down right sick!! :D

you guys think that cams and wide band can get me 100whp?
I thought that with the best tuning conditions I would only see 400 at the crank.
Yeah I believe they mean the 50 trim, cams and the wideband. I ran a 50 trim for a short time and did not see any big amount of lag. You have a nice mod list and you will do even better than I did As for me I saw the RS60T and took the bait. You might want to look at one from AGPturbo.com. $699. for a 60-1 with a polished housing and a 1 year warranty. I already had their BEEFY oil lines to go with the awesome Bulseye turbine housing they use so I just added the internal gate for a $799. total. 60 lbs/min, 50 trim is 49lbs/min, same price. Mark

all right i am going to either get the RS49 or RS60-1. what do you guys suggest? I want a turbo that will tear sh!t up on the road, from a roll bout 50 or so. since I am FWD I could care less about lag (I get no traction anyways). I would like an easy 400 whp without squeezing every last little bit out of the turbo. Think the RS49 will be enough? This is a daily driver and will have 93 oct. in it 99% of the time.

RS49T and MAX it out.The RS60T needs 30PSI and cams forsure. 50trim should have cams too. I think the 60-1 would dissapoint you and me too!

I'd be curious to see what dropping a 50trim or 60-1 in on your current setup (which is similar to mine) will do to your whp if you don't do those mods first.

im hoping for 400 awhp. I have a t3t4 60 trim i havent yet got my car running just waiting for oil lines and fittings for oil pump then it will finally be able to start and then be tuned. ill let you know what numbers i hit.

those RS turbos look to be killer deals. i think i would go with one of those.
btw. do those RS turbos bolt up to the stock manifold? On AGP's site they call it the RS49T/60T Bolt-On, which made me think it will bolt up to stock equiptment, but they also sell a manifold for the T3/T4 for $450. So does it require me buying thier manifold set up or will it bolt up to stock equiptment? also would i have to get the 2" 90 degree elbow for it?

I'm plaing on upgraded my turbo and doing all the sopporting mods. I want the car to be in the low to mid 12's. Im planing on tuning with DSMlink. I'm curretnly going to a full 3" turbo back and porting the head as much as possible with stcok valves im also adding Crower stage2 Street/Strip cams and Crower springs an titanium retainers. What turbo will i need to get me in the low 12's what size injectors should i buy which fuel pump will be suffiecent and what size intercooler. How much boost should I tune for. I was thinking about buying the EVO3 16G will that get me into the low 12's obviously tuning is going to be very important i just want to make sure im getting a Turbo capible of my goals.
Thank you for any help

Hey guys, I got a 1990 talon shell and I bought a 91-94 jdm engine with a 14b, I'm thinkin about upgradin to a 16g but I just got this offer that some guy would trade me a 17c for my 14b, he says it's much better than a 16g and he doesn't need a big turbo on his car. Full of bs is what I think but I wanted your guys opinion. also how would I gow about puttin a 91-94 wiring harness in my car to match my engine?

17c is one of the old "Frankenstein" turbos if it's the 17c I'm thinking of. if you go to tchargers.com you can find the specs on it, but it looks to have roughly the same output as a big 16G.

just keep your boost down around 14psi and youll be fine...
its when you wanna raise your boost is when you need more fuel ! :thumb:

ok, too bad I can't make a splitter pipe and hook up two turbos, that would be insane, anyone ever heard of doing that? you would probably have to do alot of mods.

I am running a 17C their flow map is just a touch under a 18G, i have found it to spool really quick and is a brilliant street turbo, my waste gate is set on 20 psi and the inlet temps are ok at that as long as they are not 20sec bursts of 20psi,

They got more horsepower than a evo 3 16g? I'm looking to get 400 or more HP when I complete my talon.

If you really want 400hp I think you may wanna go with something a bit bigger than the 16g or 17c from what I've read. Prob 20g or some sort of garret hybrid (at least a 50 trim if you want 400whp).

I say keep the 14b for now, it has lots of potential. Take care of all your other basic mods, then when everything else is in place and you've thought about it a lot more, deciede on a turbo. I'm glad I didn't jump the gun and have sat and thought about all my mod choices. I still can't deciede on a turbo though.

eagle rods
wiseco pistons
arp hardware
knife edged crank
balance shaft removed.
full 3 inch turbo back exhaust
turbo xs blow off valve
apexi super air fuel computer
680cc injectors
victory performance race front mount intercooler
fuel pump
full suspension up grade
coil overs
ingals bushings
ingals camber adjusters
hallman boost controller

Currently i'm running a big 16g turbo and I want to step it up and I have the mods to do it. What turbo should i run and a dsmlink maybe? suggestions, comments, and advice welcome. I want a sub 11 sec car. thx guys :)

Ok I have a 93 Eagle Talon the things that I have done are Eagle rods, Ross pistons, ported head, Boost control, dsm link, 3'' exaust, fmic, walbro 255 fuel pump, injectors unsure what size to get, and looking to get 75 shot of nos. So my question is what is a good turbo and manifold to get? I also dont want 16g i'm looking for something bigger.
Thanks for the advice! -JOSH
