Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

which turbo should i get big t28 or scm 50 trim. the car is a daily driver i want some more horsepower i know the 50 trim is bad ass but im not sure if its good for a daily driving car. let me know what you guys would do. thx

Depends. How much money do you want to throw into it for supporting mods? Can you afford the supporting mods for a 50-trim?

Unless you want to go front mount, stay with the T28. Otherwise, definitely get the 50-trim.

1. You REALLY need to update your profile.

2. You say you have a front mount but don't want to do any mods? Either of those turbos will bolt up directly to your car. Since you're not planning on modding anything after your turbo purchase  I would say either stick with the T25 or get a T28. A 50 trim would never reach it's potential on a stock fuel system and if you tried you'd likely blow up your engine.

OK, well, here's my take on it:

50-trim - what you'll need:
-Fuel pump $100.00
-Injectors $350.00
-SAFC or DSMLink or MAFT $250.00 - $900.00
-Clutch (ACT 2100 or 2600) $365.00
-Garrett oil feed line $59.00
-Garrett oil drain line $69.00
-----------------------------------------
Total: $943.00 - $1,593.00, just to install it and run the thing above 10PSI.

To get the most out of it, you'll also need:
-Front LSD. $200 - $1500, parts only.
-Cams $500.00
-SMIM $500.00
-----------------------------------------
Total: $2,143.00 - $4,093.00

At that point, you might want to look at rebuilding your engine with forged parts.

Eventually, you'll may need to rebuild your transmission from the abuse, also - depends on how you drive and what tires you use.

T28 - what you'll need:
-Fuel pump $100.00
-Injectors $350.00
-SAFC or DSMLink or MAFT $250.00 - $900.00
-Eventually, maybe a clutch $365.00
-----------------------------------------
Total: $700.00 - $1715.00

Of course, you can do the upgrades in stages, so that you're not shelling out all of the money at once. But I'm just trying to be realistic here - if you're going to put the money and time into buying a 50-trim, you're going to want the parts to support it. Otherwise, you're buying a more expensive, laggier turbo without maximizing its top-end potential.

On the flip side of this, know that I'm going with a T04B V-trim myself, so I'll be in the same boat as you would if you got the 50-trim. I know I'll eventually need all of the above crap, minus the LSD since I'm AWD.

Apexi SAFC - Digital fuel controller
DSMLink - Chip for the ECU that can control fuel controls and stutterbox functions and pocketlogger.
MAFT - Another fuel controller that you need a GM Mass air sensor and a translator to go with it.

Okay I have a 2.4 Liter Stroker motor with Weisco 8.8:1 pistons Eagle rods, 5 Angle race cylinder Head job,Comp Cams 200(272's),Crower Springs and Retainers, SBR Front Mount And DSM LINK. ACT 2600 Street disk and Fidanza Flywheel.
I want to run a 10.999 at whatever MPH and which Turbo will that take? I don't want to spray but will definately run Race gas of course. Was thinking 60-1 but still undecided. Thanks for any info or suggestions you guys can give me.

i am planning on building a very similar motor. i am going to use an holset hx-35. check into holset turbos a little bit. there is a huge thread about them a few links up. they are very capable and relatively cheap. good luck!!

The AGP 61 would be my choice but the other turbos are really big. I think i could get 10's with the 61. Thanks for all the info and suggestions.

^^ holset has been around for awhile, but i'm still skeptical about performance until i see some dyno numbers.

as for which turbo?

FP 3065, 3575; GT30R, GT35R, SCM 60-1. do that research ;)

there a results in that thread. guys running over 500hp on 20 psi

Holset all the way, its cheaper than all of those and will easily get you tens, id go HX-40 probably.

yeah lately i have heard alot about the holset turbos and how good they are, i really need to do some research on them.
thanks for your replies

"a 20g is old mitsu technology" - quoted, so the cost/power ratio went down when compared to a similarly prices 50 trim.

if i remember correctly, a few 20G's have ever dipped into the 10's.

If I remember correctly, alot more 20g's have gone 10s than 50 trims

i wouldnt mess with hahn as they make stuff for non turbo cars. I have heard that 18gs are rare, expensive and not much better than an evo 3 16g. I would suggest either an evo 3 16g or a 20g. Depends wat you r lookin for ( ie quick spool up, top end etc).

If you're looking for easy to work with and don't have astronomical HP goals I'd suggest the T28.
