Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

I'm making 15psi by 4700rpm, and that's with a noticeable boost leak that can be heard inside the car coming from the manifold to turbo seal. It will be fixed shortly, and I'm expecting to pick up a few hundred rpm from that as well as correcting the injector trim angles to match the cam card. I'm running a PT67 T04S .58 a/r P trim, Autronic standalone, 272's, head work, FRH intake manifold, 70mm t/b, 3in IC pipes, etc.

I'd say go with the same turbo I have. On a 2.3, it would be a beast. I'm only running a 2.0 9:1 motor. I'm also revving to 9k, actually just took her up to 8500 tonight (560 miles on motor). On 15psi, 12:1 a/f, 8597rpm, 45% injector duty cycle, 1680cc injectors :)

Colin ive liked the looks of your setup since I first saw a picture of it, very clean :thumb: . I never knew what turbo you were running though. This does sound like a very good turbo. With the 2.3 I could probably see 25psi by 5000 rpm. Who is tuning your autronic ?

Me and Blake (Drag_S13) have tuned it completly to where it is now, wrote the maps from scratch pretty much. We copied over the timing map from Bill Roberts 2.3 3S motor, but fuel was a complete guess, and we were damn close too :) Tonight was the first night above 7k, and the target a/f was 12:1 at 8500, actual was 11.8:1.. the whole map was pretty damn dead on. With the wideband and mixture table, tuning is a breeze.

On my 2.0, I see no reason why I can't get 1.5bar b y 5k. 2 bar for you should be achievable.

Hey guys i have a 1998 GST with 46k on it and its in the stages of being built up. My question is which turbo to upgrade to.. now keep in mind i dont wnat something thats gonna have massive lag time but im not looking at drag racing it either.. i basically just will be going from 30+mph rolls when i race so traction will be less of an issue. I want something though that will push out the 350+hp im looking for. Im gonna make this into a very fast car off a roll and i wanna be able to pull on f-bodys and such... I also need a turbo with alot of top end power. Also which injectors should i go with?? im looking at running no more than 20psi or so and ive already ordered a 190lph fuel pump and the rewire kit. I know ill need the SAFC too once i install it but id like to purchess the turbo first then buy the rest and install it all at once..

Installing alot of things at once is cool... but it's actually HELL if you have a problem and need to diagnose which part you just installed is bad.

Turbo recommendations that I say would be a 20g or a 50trim.
If you want 350hp plus you need to type out some more damn information.

What else are your goals besides 350hp.
You want to run from a roll but does from a stop matter?
Around 20psi I would start recommending a 255 pump.
Injectors you should goto RRE's webpage and read their injector chart.
Also about how much money are you wanting to spend?

like i said in my first post i dont really care to race from a stop much so i just want something thats gonna have alot of pull from a roll. Also i thought that the 190 pump would support upto 400hp or something like that?? ill probably order the 550's soon but what worries me is the safc will i need a pocket logger to tune correctly because i have no dyno within 200miles of me? if so is it very difficult to tune.. also if i install the turbo right when i get it with the 190 pump what psi should i run to keep it safe since i wont have any other fuel mods yet?

I'd go with 660cc injectors and turbo-wise I would go slightly bigger than a B16G to have better top end. Go external and get either a 20G or 50trim.

I agree, I just upgraded to a 20g and it was like a breath of fresh air :thumb: 12psi on the 20g feels like 17-18psi did on the BIG28. Now I just need to turn the boost up to 16-18psi and really have fun.

You might not want to continue ordering modifications then ordering your turbo to complete the setup. You may be better off picking your turbo then building the setup around it or to work well with it.

You would want a packetlogger and cable just to keep tabs on your setup even tho the dyno is that close. Basically it's a damn good item to have with you all the time in case something is wrong or something you feel you need to monitor because the car is feeling "odd". 660's is what I would recommend for a 20g or larger, 550's are fine for a evo16g and that's exactly what I'm running now just have them leaned out pretty far on my safc2.

A 190 will support a 50trim, but anything larger or with octane less then 92 you'll want to go with a 255 and a AFPR.
True but me personally I rather have the 255 in case I go alot bigger or need the extra fuel tuning cababilities.

So true. I ditched my t28 for my evo16g and man... OMG is all I'm going to say.

if i decided to go 255 how much harder is the install? will i need a fpr then too? also i heard 20g's have poor spool up time would the 50 trim be any better?

20Gs do not have poor spool up time.....at least not in the one i drove but then again it also depends on the supporting mods too.

well idk what to do now.. i feel like the 20g will be overkill for the 350hp~ goal but idk. Also would it be possible to run the 190 pump on the 20g so i dont have to return it? or should i just go with the 50trim.. oh yeah and i guy i know has some 550 injectors that hed sell me cheap should i just save some $$ and get those from him or am i in need of the 660's... if i go 20g i think 12~14lbs of boost is gonna be what im running i think that should be sufficient of my 350hp goal

19psi at 3400rpms, don't consider that slow lag.

You'd be suprised, 350whp isn't that easily attained on a smaller than 20G turbo.

id agree 19psi at 3400 is not bad at all.. im just concerned that my fuel managment is gonna be too much work. I know its not all drop in stuff but im not real familiar with the SAFC and dont want to mess something up tuning it. Im just trying to get all my crap in a pile first then hopefully everything will work out ok

350 hp or whp? 350 hp a EVOIII b16g will work great. 350 whp you'll need the 20g or bigger.

Look to spend at least $10k for that HP goal. Even then, tuning tuning tuning and tuning will get you there.

what do you guys think abotu a t3/t4 hybrid turbo.. it says the bolt right up to our manifolds and 02 housings..?? would that be big enough and how would that compair to the 20g??

i would go with a PTE or AGP T3/T4 they have gotten great reviews. Also, a 50-Trim flows better than a Td06 20G, and is cheaper.
