Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

He is trying to say that his exhaust has the standard Mitsu bolt pattern and that will not work with a full Garrett setup. Garrett uses a different bolt pattern so his exhaust will not bolt up. Any of the bolt up 50 trims shoudl be ok. I personally would go with the rs49 because I am local to them and a bunch of AZ guys have AGP turbos and really like them. I personally dont have one but have heard nothing but good things.

The 14b can do that I think. The 16g can put out over 300 at the wheels.

i have a 95 non turbo eclipse that im going to turbo! i want a stage 2 with intercooler!
i know there is the star and hahncraft or something like that. what one should i get and where is a good place to order the kit and that will ship to canada?

Hey guys, in the past week I have ordered many mods such as FMIC, 3" downpipe, safc2, walbro255 fuel pump. I am expecting to run mid 12's in my 95 GST, will a FP Big 28 Turbo get me there? Or would I need a larger turbo? THanks.

That turbo would get you there although it would be a little harder to do it with. I would go ahead and get something a little bigger than a Big28 because traction will make your 12 second dreams a lot harder to attain. Get something on the order of a Evo16g or maybe even a 50trim. I know you plan on getting a few more supporting mods too right. Lastly it will boil down to traction, tuning, and driving skill.

I would imagine full boost hitting too early and traction being a problem. I would invest in some axels or suspension mods. I think that the T28 is better suited for AWD, I would go with a slightly later spooling turbo and make it up on the top end.

Up to you :thumb:

Would it matter if my car is automatic? Can I still hit 12's? Eventhough, it is automatic I have done a 2.28 on the 60ft, which I think is pretty good. Could 12's be achievable with 17psi on this turbo? Thanks you guys have been a big help.

I also have a GST, and I decided that when it is time, the B16g is the turbo for me. the Traction loss with the ultra fast spooling T28 just seems like a nightmare, of course I only have 1 car so it has to be driveable during the wet Seattle fall, winter, spring season, oh and the sorta wet summer season (damn seattle!).

You might wanna start beefing up that tranny alittle bit if you wanna be in the 12's. You should be okay adding the Translab Shift Kit and the Alto End Clutch kit. They are the basic A/T upgrades but you should get those as your times get better and closer to 12's.

highint: Honestly, 12s in an automatic GS-T with a small T28 will be rather difficult. I would recommend an SBR2g20G to make it easier. With any turbo, I don't think it will be a breeze. Once you start making good power you need to upgrade the suspension big time to get that FWD down the track, and beef up the tranny to not nuke it. Starts getting $$$. I would worry more about trap speeds than 12.X with your car.

SeattleGST: The B16G and T28 are not night and day in regards to spool or power, they are very close actually. The B16G still spools quick and has mediocre top end. Not an ideal turbo for FWD looking for 12s. You need a 20G or better to make it feasible.

Might want to talk with DSMJIM he is running a t3/t4 turbo on pump at 12.56 right now @20 psi. Its a sweet setup and I've had the priviledge to ride in it and was very impressed, impressed enough to order one about 3 days later! :dsm:

BTW Im AWD but automatic trans for the time being  I have a 5 speed donor car ready to swap :thumb: and I run the translab shift kit and alto end clutch and its a HUGE improvement over stock.

good point, but I am NOT looking for 12's. I drive 30 miles a day in seattle rush hour traffic, and it is usually wet, i have a stock T25 because i still have 9,000 miles before the warranty expires. I am very happy with the 25 for my needs, it i ever hit redline around here it was pretty late indeed.

I dont know what I run with the 25, I dont know my wheel HP with my current mods, and just look at some of my pics, I am definately not going for some kind of land speed record here. and I dont want to look like i threw on some power upgrade stickers, and some go fast body kit, with some serious small displacement ram intake action.

what do you guys think about the fp30 series turbo then? I'm pretty ambitious about hitting 12's...Ill just have to keep on working on saving...

The PTE SCM units are nice also, and will make big power as well. Also the new GT series garrett turbos are nice.

The t28 is a better turbo for awd cars. My buddy has a fully built 97 gsx with a t-28 on it fully tuned, cams and the works and he just went like mid 12's. I would go as far to say you would be lucky to get out of the low 13's with that. You are going to need a LSD, Susp. work, and nice ass tires. Let alone you need to get that tranny built. 12's are by far nothing easy to come by. The turbo's for us FWD cars are the bigger turbos that give us lag but hell of top end. After months of me looking into this I went with the SBR 60-1. My goals are low-low 12's. If you want mid-high 12's I would say a 20g is almost perfect fit for you.

ok so last night i bought my first dsm. 92 TSi AWD 6/4 bolt, 20g turbo, 625 injectors, fuel pump the goodies. AWD dyno showed it has 262 hp. i drive it home and it runs great, had perfect compression + good transmission. right when i get it home my dad drives it and takes the keys and says i cant drive it, he thinks its too fast(wtf????). he also didnt know i wanted to race and he was a little upset about that but he was mad at himself because he didnt drive the car before we bought it. Heres the turbo part, im going to switch out the 20g with a smaller turbo to make less power so i can drive it. Im thinking either 14b or T25. I want to make less power so i can drive it, but still be able to turn up the boost and make it go fast when i want it to. I'm leaning 14b but they may be hard to find, how will the t25 do?

A t25 will be a pain in the ass to put on. You can find 14B's all day long on www.dsmtrader.com 262 at the wheels with a 20G is pretty weak. With a good tune you could probably get that from a 14B but it may be a struggle. Either way, just change the car nback to stock and cruise it around having fun.

As a parent I can sympathize with his position...

Ask your dad if instead of not having the car, you can convert it to semi stock with a 16g or 14b but advise that it will cost money and mean more tuning on the car.

Ask if you can have the car and he will go with you to sanctioned events like test and tune sessions at the local drag or autox events where you can enjoy the car safely, and not have temptation to "prove" yourself on the street.

Remind him that it is a quick car, even in full factory trim so there is little reason to convert it completely to stock... it is still going to be faster than 90% of the cars out there.

Finally, Prove to him that you are responsible enough to have a high powered car and not get yourself in jail or killed if he does allow you a chance to keep the car and drive it. Thank him for atleast caring enough to intervene... too many parents don't take the initiative or interact with their kids...

Personally I think it could be a good experience for both of you, if you will both give it a chance.

BTW you id not mention what the car has that allows it to run those big injectors... AFC?

it has 625 injectors and walbro 255lph high pressure w/ S-AFC. I am thinking about getting either a 14b or small 16g. with these turbo's can't i turn down the boost to the lowest(9 pounds?) and be close to stock, probably around 200hp and when i go to the track up it and be getting better numbers? I can probably sell the super 20g for around 700 and new small 16g's only cost 465 from buschur. any ideas?
