Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

AUTO

13g not a 14b
3?? injectors not 450s

You will need new injectors
you will have to retune the mass
you will need a fuel pump at some time

Take the uicp off and let the car idle on the default/O2 reading. If it still doesn't run right (or close to it) then the car is crapped out and it isn't the turbo.

Did ya do the compression text yet?

I have a 91 talon tsi and im putting 9:1 wiseco pistons, eagle rods, High pressure cometic head gasket in the engine. (+ supporting mods for a turbo) Could some one tell me how much boost/psi that engien could handle safly. And what would be the best turbo to use (I was thinking about evo III turbo or B16g) What do you think?

Loaded question. How well can you tune? Race gas? Nitrous oxide? What else are you running?

Any boost is dangerous if somethings wrong. Just for a superbroad answer, I would say 25psi max. I was reading about a Le Mans Audi? that had a twin turbo V8 motor with around 21psi of boost on 10.5:1 pistons. Tuning is the only thing keeping that motor from dying. Very experienced and well paid tuning. :p

9:1 is not too high, but high enough for boost. I prefer lower boost and more ignition advance. Your trade-off for higher compression is less timing advance at the same psi. You also have a smaller range of tuning to work with. No way is it a mistake what you have done, but do know that it does increase the chance of things going boom.

Shoot for 17-20 degree's of timing and 11.0-11.5 ratio for fuel.

Happy tuning,

well the other parts im going to get for the car are

Engine Re-build Kit
Super AVC-R (auto Boost Control)
Walbro-255 LPH (Fuel Pump)
Magnacore 8.5 Plug Wires
Eagle Rods $369
34mm Flaper (for turbo)
Pacesseter Down Pipe
Turbo XS Blow Off Valve
High Pressure Cometic Head Gasket
MAF Translater
3” MAF
ATR 3” Cat-back Exhaust
Clinic 650cc injectors
Aeromotive FPR
3” Straight Inake Pipe
Upper Intercooler Pipe With XS BOV Flange
Front Mount intercooler
Tel Intake Manifold
Stage 3 Clutch
HKS Turbo Timer
EFI 75HP Shot Noss
Stage 3 Clutch
Port polish Cylinder Head
Oversized Cams
(racing gas)

The only part im still figuting is the Turbo. How much boost could the engine hold with the above on it safly, and what turbo would work best for this engine (id prefere to use a mitsue turbo)

If all you want is a small turbo why even build the engine. I can see maybe because you want N20 but why not spend that 500.00 dollars on a bigger turbo and have that extra power all the time. If you build an engine capable of 500+ horsepower and put a 16g on it, its like buying a Porsche and running 87 octane in it. You are not taking advantage of what you have.

yea no kidding, i stil have a stock bottom end 2g (only thing that is stock mind you) and I run 22psi all day long at 11.2 a/f and Im lareayd looking to upgrade..

Im trying to decide between a fp49 or fp58 check out forced performance too see what I mean..

stock engine will take just under 600hp. why are you building it?

im rebuildign the engine because it has 150k miles on it. I thought while im rebuilding it, I might as well put good stuff in it. what turbo do you think I should get. and how much boost should i run with it.

If you have a n/t car and it appears that you do that changes things quite a bit. If you have a turbo 4g63 then I would do a compression test and if the cylinders are fairly close in compression and still somewhat high I wouldn't worry about it. If it is burning oil I would maybe rebuild the head, but leave the bottom end if it is in good shape. If you have a stock turbo 4g63 then you can run about 23psi of boost before you lift the head off of the block, if you have a turbo 4g63 and arp head studs you can run even more boost.

I know you are just asking for advice, but why do you want someone else to pick your turbo and boost level for you. I would say stick with what you got until you have set and reached your goal for that turbo. Not to mention you dont want to bolt a brand new turbo to a freshly rebuilt motor, there could be metal shavings from machine work that could clog things and foul your day up real bad. Everyone has an opinion on what turbo to get and how much boost to run, so you are not going to get some definitive answer from everyone.

Well what I want is every ones oppinion and I get different perspectives so I can make a good decition. so if any one could help that would be great.

mileage may mean nothing but the engine was a peace of crap. And the compretion is low on it. I dont remember what it was but the engine defenetly needs to be rebuilt. Im building this engine to go in a car specificly for drag racing. So you could understand why i must rebuild every thing and put higher compretion pistons and other performance parts. (any suggestions for a good turbo and amount of boost?)

I just sold my rs65 b/c it was too big and now i am looking to get a 50 trim, unfortunately i got the RNR o2 eliminator exhaust and i found out that since i got the o2 eliminator i can only get a mitsubishi bolt on turbo. What turbo is my best bet for a 50 trim? I was leaning towards the rs49, but wanted to see if there were other, better options?
Thanx

What are you talking about? I know several people with 50 trims on the RnR o2 eliminator turbo back.

I am also somewhat confused about what you are trying to ask. The 50 trim is the actual turbo. And it doesn't matter that you have an O2 eliminator it's just like having the any other o2 housing. You don't have anyting to worry about. Go get your 50trim.

OIC. I don't know the why they are different. All the 50's i've seen have had the stock o2 side. That pic i posted above is from a 50 trim. I'm puzzled also.Where are you planning on buying from?

Does your brother still have that saab IC on his GSX???
