Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

If your in Phoenix, just get the AGP kit. They are local!

Kevin can also make you an intercooler. He has done all the local ones with great success. Hell, drop your car off at his house for a week and pick it up a happy man. :thumb:

Yeah one thing the waiting is alot longer then a week...especially for a intercooler and all being made...I was talking with John L2RTSIawd it took kevin like 2 months just because the cores are on back order...also for a t3t4 kit being made will take like a 2-3 weeks....I don't know if i want it anymore cuz its alot of more money...its worth the money but I kinda don't want to spend that much though...now i am leaning towards the bolt on .50trim Hybrid...

If you want a 50 trim bolt on hybrid, you can still get it from them. Probably a better price, and they can hand it to you instead of shipping.

This is true but since he is having some else do the work (ie: AMS Motorsports) they might have thought of that already... still it would be good to ask them what they think. As far as being streetable I think that if you have the green they can do anything you ask, John Linkinfelter makes a "Street-legal" 10 second LT1 Vett, of course it cost about 100k to get the work done.
Hey GOOD LUCK! I cant wait to hear how things turned out:thumb: :dsm:

Thank you! We finnally 100% decided on the turbo...of course I cant remember what exactly it was called. They said its a new turbo design and it hasnt been out for long and it has gt in the name, i cant remember what it was called, they said trust me zach this is the best turbo we have ever seen, i would love to see this on your car...so i said ok! they have dynod a gst with this turbo at 600 whp! im a little scared but well see, it is supposedly supposed to get full boost at 4300 rpm, well see how the gst holds up to this supposedly crazy turbo. it should be done in about 1-1.5 weeks, i cant wait!!!!!!!!

Ok this is the prder in which i am buying things this whole summer:
Apexi comp.exhaust
Carbon fiber hood+paint job
Fuelpump injectors,fmic,turbo

Now i am confused? What kind of turbo should i get. with all those parts i want a turbo so i can run 3-350hp. My question is what is a good turbo, not the most expensive but the best bang for the buck? I heard when i get this i will need to re-route the oil line and get bigger fuel pump and injectors. My friend said he can get a garrett T3 for 900, for an 88 ford turbo coupe. Thats a pretty good price. Is there one around that for my car. Or will it be more expensive. Please give me some info.

thanks

i already have mbc, airfilter, vac lines removed, free mods

That is a crappy price for a t3. If your doing any type of t3 turbo it better atleast be a super60 or a 60 trim from a Grand narional. But still it isn't worth thr trouble when you can buy a bolt on turbo that will make great power. What you want is a t3/t4 but it would be easier to go bolt on.

For 300-400 hp a 20g or larger turbo will be the best choice. It will be the easiest way to make that kind of power. The only other reason to go smaller would be lack of a good intercooler and fuel. But if you plan on doing these it wont be a problem to go 20g.

Also for around the same price of a 20g you can get a bolt on 50 trim turbo from precision. Basically you would want a 50 trim, with a t31 .48 exhuast housing. It will compete with a 20g if not actually be a better.

Ok, I am probably asking the most hated noob question, but i am tired of wondering. I plan on going all out and getting a large turbo. I have only had the car for two months now and i have not many mods. I don't want to wait untill i am fully modded and then get a turbo. My question is, with what i have now, which bolt on turbo would be the best? I am tired of the lil T25. I need a little bit bigger turbo to get me through, untill i can aford the rest.

Current mods:
Dejon intake and cone filter
Supra FP
3" turbo back
1g bov
uicp

I know i have a lot of options, but which turbo would just bolt on. I don't really feel like buying a new manifold just for a turbo that i won't have very long.

Sorry for the noob question.

Thanks
Sam

if your going for a big turbo to make big numbers it woul be better to wait and get the supporting mods and buy once insted of buying one now then latter selling it for half what you paid for and buying another...but if you have the cash and feel like doing it hey whatever..

you appear to be in the same boat that i'm in. i just don't have the uicp or intake (have the filter  ), and i have a 3000gt pump instead, you should get an aftermarket fpr before anything, that pump outflows about 90% of it's competitors... sucks more current too (not volts, more amps) :p

get a boost controller, boost gauge, egt gauge, new manifold (or port yours), port the turbo, and get a supra smic (or sell your uicp and get a fmic). then just decide what kind of fuel management and datalogger you want, and you're good to move up to a bigger turbo :thumb:

anyone disagree? i think the best way to go is to build up for a bigger turbo so that he can get used to the power as the car grows.

I have a boost gauge and getting an MBC this weekend. I know i need an EGT. And a Supra sidemount was actually one of the next things on my list. I'm just tired of this lil t25. i run 15 psi now and i want to turn it up but i know that the little turbo can't handle it.

16G will be a nice start and will be like night and day from what you have now, but remember this.... When bought my first turbo (16G) I was told that I would want more....They were right, I wanted more speed and have upgraded since. I am even considering going bigger than what I have now, but then again I have the supporting mods. A nice 16G should get you into the 13s with no problem.

I'm looking for a turbo that bigger than 16G and can use with my 98 Eclipse GST (FWD) AUTOMATIC. So I think the solution should be the ball bearing turbo. I'm planning to reach around 350-400 WHP (street and weekend drag). What turbo should I use?

These items are ready to be installed
K&N FIPK
Greddy FMIC + pipings
Greddy Type-S BOV
Ported exhause manifold
Blitz SBC-iD II boost controller
HKS Super AFR
Boost, EGT and A/F guage
A'PEXi N1 downpipe + catback
Walbro 255
RC injectors 550 cc

I plan to change the torque converter in my tranny also.

18g is good with your setup and the price is reasonable in my opinion. But if you have the cash you should consider the 20g or the green but then again you'll probably need 660 injectors.

I feel the same, I am currently running a FP Big28 and would like a little more power. I am looking at the SBR 2G20G, it is a TDO5/20G so it will spool a little faster than the TDO6/20G. Us Auto guys want minimal lag.

I'd go at least 20G, your wasting your time w/ anything smaller imo. I have a big16g now and it's fine but I wanted something more so I went w/ a 50 trim ball-bearing bolt on from SBR. Just make sure you have a upgraded tranny, TC, and shift kit. Good Luck!!

did you go with the SBR-GT11 ? If so how is that working out for you? I was looking at the SBR-GT10& SBR-GT11?

Yeah, I went w/ the GT-11 w/ the TS04 housing as to avoid the whole water pipe issue. I should be getting it w/ in the week and it will be installed shortly there after. I let you know how it turns out. BTW, the GT-10 is a good turbo too, it's pretty much a ball-bearing 20G. I think it will work good considering where the "BB" turbos excel which is inbetween shifts and the fact that we don't lose boost inbetween shifts. We shall see.....
