Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

well this is going to be on a dialy driver. i have the money to spend. im replacing everything and getting headwork done. the only thing thats staying stock is the engine block and other minor parts. but adding new pistons rods cams valvesprings and everything.

id like the car to be reliable. and somewhat efficent since it will be a daily driver.

i dont know much about turbos but have been reading about them all weekend. so im asking everybody what they all think i should get ? im going to be running premium pump fuel also.

and i have about 10+ grand to spend. im going with a 3" intake and a full VRS 3" turbo back exhaust. w/ or w/o the o2 eliminator i dont know.
but i was thinking of getting everything new intake manifold exhaust manifold wastegate (would like an external but internal is fine to) tial BOV and whatever else i need. i dont know much about these but have been reading for a week straight about the DSMs.

i was looking at getting the T3/T4 50 trim .63 stage 3 kit from dsmotor sports. but some people tell me i should probably go wtihs omething else. so i want all the opinions i can get.

and if anybody has a nice street setup. let me know what you have.

i would say go with a 20g, or look into the FP Green. i have been told the green is one of the best street turbos for making power. i had thought about going with a FP green or FP3055 back when i was looking into a 1g awd, but have since chaged my goals for now and just working on stuff for my current car.

I'm considering a upgrade to my T-25. It's between a big T-28 Killer, or a Garrett T3/Mitsu. hybrid. The T3 supposedly is rated to 480 HP will spool up by 2900RPM, and also bolt right up. The supporting mods will be there. Thanks. The car is a '96 Spyder GST.

Depends on your goals, what do you want? Theres countless threads on this and in order to get a specific answer, we need a specific question. Please be more specific as to your goals for this car.

We need alot more than that:

Expectations (HP Desired)
Affordability
Spool-up desired
Efficiency band
Fuel Plans
future setup wanted (there is more to be said from a 20g than a T28,
they are 2 totally different turbos, alos fall in the spool-up catagorey)

Some more thoughts with the amount of money you are willing to spend is needed.
( I have spent $5,000 total in mods in 2 phone calls to Slowboyracing!)

I want something thats very streetable (ie quick spool up-comparable to stock) and has the potential for at least 350HP. Fuel plans are pump gas, will eventually get dsm link, bigger injectors, and fuel pump when I want to jack up boost. The cost of the turbos is similar, the T28 being a little cheaper. I also will be doing the install myself, and would like something that's relatively easy to do.- Basically, I want the maximum power output I can have and still have an excellent daily driver. I'll spend what it takes to achieve those goals. Can I get an opinion?

yo man you want alot of stuff i would go with the hybrid because youre installing it your self. yo what part of michigan do you live in? cause if you ever cruise gratiot look for the black talon with silver underbody smoking everybody off the line

hey guys i just bought a 91 talon TSI AWD..but its an AUTO, i would like to know which turbo/injectors i should go with? i'm looking for something that builds boost quick and is good for low 13's possibly high 12's.

thanks and do i need anything else to go along with it?

Matt

I also vote Big16G (unclipped), with 550s. And down the road, you may also want to consider putting in some M/T cams-- they're a little better than the A/T cams in there now, and they can usually be had pretty cheap.

I also suggest joining the A/T DSM discussion list-- go to at.dsm.org to read more about it.

And it's not for me-- it's for the people that will be trying to help you out with suggestions. If you provide that kind of info, it'll help them provide you with more relevant information so you can make a better-informed decision. Don't get all pissy.

Try not to wet yourself.

16G will do good for you since you couldn't do a simple search for one of the most popular topics ever on this board.

Sell your Laser and Buy a Civic... please. I can only see a grim future for that car... is there some kind of DSM Rescue organization out there... this one is going to need it.

Before you ask about a TURBO!
If you're going to ask a question about a turbo here on DSMtuners, be sure you've read this whole message. We're going to be a little more strict about how turbo questions are asked in order to maintain the high level of quality in the forums. This is usually the most popular question, and the first question by newbies - and it shouldn't be. The truth is, you never need to ask which turbo to buy. You can answer your own question by reading and doing research on each turbo to find whether or not it will work for your goals. It's mostly personal preference anyway, as most turbos are capable of performance numbers that the average tuner will probably never see. Most of your questions can likely be answered by performing a search on the turbo name.

- Before you ask:
1. Be sure you have all your engine mods listed in your Profile.
2. Be sure you first understand what supporting mods are needed for larger turbos - check the Tuning Guide linked at the top.
3. No "X"-Turbo vs. "X"-Turbo threads... these are never useful.
4. Use the Private Message feature to ask various members about their setup.
5. Please avoid asking questions about turbo specs, unreleased turbos, or other questions that can be accurately answered by simply calling the manufacturer directly or visiting their website.
6. NO vague "which turbo should I get?" type questions. This tells us you don't even know the capabilities of the turbos on the market. Do your research and then ask a more intelligent question when you are more informed. Click the "Advanced Search" link up top and start looking for info on each turbo name.

- How to ask:
1. Ask about specific turbos only.
2. Title your thread specifically about the turbo you have a question on, and ask a specific question about that turbo.
3. Give all the information you possibly can in order to allow others to offer useful feedback.

- How to post an answer:
1. List your mods and achievements in your Profile.
2. List what your goals were when you, yourself were turbo shopping.
3. List what turbo(s) you went with - not which one(s) you didn't.
4. Post your experiences only for the turbo(s) you've used.
5. Do not give opinions on the turbo(s) you have no first-hand experience with.
6. Do not argue with other turbo owners from a competing manufacturer.
7. Stick to the topic. Give your feedback on the turbos in question. Don't try to talk the person into going with a different turbo manufacturer.
8. No bad-mouthing turbo manufacturers - use DSMreviews.com to review a part or a vendor.

hey i need some advice on which one to get.i would like to get a t3/t4 or the big16g turbo wich would would i better off with.i would like the t3 so is that a good choice.and what type of injectors will i need

ok i am planning on gettin another turbo when i get the money. i am debating between two diffrent turbos tho. One choice is the stock 1st gen 14b or a T-28...how much boost and HP r both of these turbos good for. and do i need supporting mods for a T28 or a 14b?

EVOIII 16G

It cost the same as a T28, you have the option to always upgrade (i.e. 18G, 20G) and a real no brainer to install.

Anyone who considers a T28 over a EVOIII when they cost practically that same (yes, even including the 2G install kit!) should be rocked in the head.

If you do go with evo 16g check out slowboy racing. they've got good prices and tell you alittle about each turbo. i got my big 16g there which is just about the same as the evo one for like $600.
