Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

The evo III 16G is killer take a look around at the other posts on just how neat it is. Slowboyracing even has a comparison on the site of all the 16g's.

Ok define cheap proven speed... what is teh difference performancewise... bigger lag on the cheap proven speed?

No relation, I was simply implying that you could go for either turbo with proven results, and either pay more, or pay less. I would go with the 50 trim out of the two. The Green and 50 Trim both have the same size wheel.

Just curious... where have you seen the pte 50 trim that's internally gated for $900 bucks at? I looked through the site sponsor list and couldn't find the company. Thanks for the info!!

i saw them for $900 on this very site on the parts list/catalog .. and it gives links to where u can get em..

Thanks alot! I know how you feel I'm in need of more power myself. My FP Big28 isn't cutting it anymore.

Just be prepared to support what that 50 trim can produce. The internally gated ones can only be held to a MINIMUM 19-21psi with a free flowing exhaust. And remember that 19-21psi has a lot more volume coming with it than a 14b or 16g would at the same pressure. Just make sure that you're ready to tune with big injectors and the fuel to flow them if you go with the internal gate. You won't be able to cheat by running low boost until you can afford the supporting mods.

The 50 trim blots on to the stock mainifold??? So how much is the "total" cost going to be for the 50 trim no gaskets or flanges??I know you need the supposting mods (fuel injectors, fuel pump, safc, at least new upper IC pipeing) would you need a FMIC? I been looking at the 20g but not to deep i got alot of things to do before i buy it...But i like to look for thing way ahead of times so i can get the best deal...

The 50 trim we're speaking of does bolt to the stock manifold and O2 housing. You'll need an oil line install kit that has a feed line and a return line. You'll also need to plug the water supply for the old turbo.
Buschur sells their version for $995 + $85 for the oil kit and you'll need to buy that plug for the coolant from the hardware store for $2.

You'll also need a new intake pipe as the inlet on these turbos is 3".

Well, you'll need the intake as well as:
* 3" exhaust and downpipe would be ideal
* Porting of stock O2 and Exhaust manifold
* At least 660cc injectors
* 255lph or so fuel pump
* Fuel control (SAFC, VPC, stand alone)
* Colder plugs (NGK BPR7ES)
* Front mount intercooler or good water -> air intercooler
* Boost controller
* Suggest an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator
* Suggest upgraded fuel lines (for more flow)

All the supporting mods (parts alone) should cost you anywhere from
$1800-$5500 depending on how far you go.
Just remember, the better you can fine tune the car, the more likely it is that the engine will hold up to the power you can make.

but won't the t-28 spool faster than the Big 16G since it is a smaller turbo? how much HP is the T-28 good for?? what about the Evo III 16G?
