Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.
 
stroking an engine and then putting on a non- ball bearing turbo... that's kind of like buying a mclaren F1 but you don't like the color so you get a Maaco paint job... i know that's a bit extreme but that's kind of how i see it. Just save up a little more $$ and go all out.
 
im gonna agree with rubberside down on this one, go all out and stay away from ball bearing(coming from a fwd owner) trust me U WANT LAG

My good friend has this on his eclipse. He is looking for 350whp @ 13-18psi.

What turbo & other modifications fo you recommend?

He was thinking 20G

I was thinking a t3/t4 hybrid with a nice tubular style turbo manifold.

What to you think guys. I figured I'd leave it up to the pro's.

The L2R Turbo with internal wastegate mounted to the stock manifold.

That's going to run $1,650. Figure he can sell the FP big t-28 for $650.

This is $1,600. But I would believe the SFP manifold would out flow the stock manifold by a lot.

You don't need anything like an FP-30 or even an L2R for 350WHP. Sure, a 20G would work, as would an L1R or Slowboy SBR-GT10, although you'd be close to maxing those last two out to get 350 WHP as they're rated at around 400 crank.
 
Thats a picture of my turbo on the motor. I love it. Best $1600 I've ever spent on a turbo setup. I've had an l2r, green, l3r, big 16g, 20g, t25, 14b, 60-1/td06h hybrid and I love my t3/t4.

I know everybody is talking about the bigger turbo's and such, and thats awesome you wanna run her down the 1/4 mile. In the real world are you going to be running the Big RPM's? A SPR GT-10 would spool so fast your head might spin. If you have a nasty bottem end, then i'd see the feasiblity of the bigger "bad boys" on the street.
