Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

I have around $3,000.00 to spend from woring in the summer.
would like to run mid to low 13's the car will b a daily driver with "open street night" visits to the track.

Hey man, i have similar mods to you and i am going with the T28...its a good turbo, about the same as the 16G, but its a direct bolt-on, which is nice and i also appears factory, but with much bigger h/p punch! i have been trying to decide which turbo to go with for a while now and i just made up my mind.....it took lots of emails and visits to Road///Race to make up my mind...but its done now.....i recommend the T28. I rode in a friends car and he's got the T28 and he runs low 13's in a FWD....so its got some good potential.....Cory at Road///Race told me that if you work it right, it would be good for mid-12's (with a good driver of course)

in regards to your supporting mods being adequate.....you should have a downpipe and exhaust to also take advantage of the xtra flow of the turbo....if you want specifics....go to

Road///Race and follow that list! These guys are amazing, and luckily for me, i live like 25-30 min away from them so its right by me......
also, if you are doing the install yourself, the T28 would be a much easier job, because it is a direct bolt-on....let me know if you have any more questions....i dont know everything, but i did a decent amount of research....i've got almost 75% of the money saved up that i need for it so it shouldnt be too long now.....good luck with your decision and like i said, let me know if you got any more Q's.....peace
Brian

PS... look at my mod list and wish list and on my wishlist, they are all in order of soon-to-be appearance, because that is what i think (and RRE thinks) is the smartest way to upgrade without hurting anything...

As long as it makes full boost oin the min 4K RPM range is fine.

I need help on the trim.

What exactly do you need help on deciding. You stated your mods and one turbo/intercooler your looking at. Sounds to me like you already know what you want.

I cant speak from personal expierence but I believe the AGP L3R in the garret housing should be hitting full boost a lil over 4000rpms and it should be a pretty mean ass setup. The IRC FMIC IMO is the best on the market but be prepared for a long wait after ordering (1 month+)

One other thing...
I think your 660s are to small for a turbo that size..I suggest atleast 720s more likely 750s.

there is a 1 month wait on irc 2g fmic kits and a 6-8 weeks wait for the AGP Garret GT35R turbo kits. NO MORE AGP MANIFOLDS !!! so you got to wait a while. www.RnRracing.com has some really really really really really really nice 2g RACE CORE KITS using Spearco 2-216 FMIC CORES just like INDY RACE CORES ! but the www.Rnrracing.com 2g Race CORE KIT will only cost you 1050. unlike IRC's 2g Race core kits which sell for 1200. both kits are exactly the same.

just a lil bit of info for ya

Do you know if those prices on the front mounts include the piping, couplers, and t-bolts?

Ok, Ive finally got my engine complete along with a port and polished head along with many other toys. Now, what turbo to run.

Keep in mind that I am a FWD, but I do have the BM tranny lsd insert. I intended for this project to be a strong street car and visiting the drag strip probably once a month.

I am wanting to get AGP's line of turbos but dont know which ones. I was actually thinking of the L2, non-ball bearing turbo. Or, should I go with the L2R?? Do you think the L2R would spool to fast for me to even have traction at all?? Would the L2 be a better turbo for the FWD?? More then likely I am going to give AGP a call in the morning when I have a chance. Just wanted other opinions about this subject. Let me know your ideas. Thanks

Wouldn't you want to go with a fairly large turbo? Because you have an extra .3 liters (that's an extra 15% in displacement) you could essentially operate a turbo that is 15% larger than on a 2.0 engine with the same lag characteristics (approximately)

Also, another argument for a large turbo in your case: I've heard of the concept of FWD guys using quite large turbos, so in first and second when traction is an issue, the turbo doesn't build that much PSI, and when the car is already rolling where FWDs accel, the power is all there and doesn't drop off.

I'd go with a real big turbo, but that's just my thoughts (and I don't have any actual experience with this either, it's just my ideas).

interesting....Well right now i cant really afford anything more then the l2r. I should ask would the L2 be a good turbo for the extra strokage or should I get the L2R? If there is a similar turbo that is around the same price then let me know. More More More INPUT!! :D

Get the non ball bearing L3. It's not much more than an L2, you have a larger motor so it should spool quicker, and it just put down 534hp on BM's AWD dyno last week at 34psi. I'd bet it'd make comparable power on your larger engined-car at a lower boost level than that.

Yep, what he said. You've got a big motor and you're on a budget, L3 conventional bearing is the way to go. Spools pretty darn good on a 2.0L, should be like a 16g on your motor;) We can do you one for $50 upgrade charge from the L2 sale we have on right now.
