Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

I'am going to buy one of sbrs g series turbos, just can't decide between the 50 trim or 60-1.anyone runnig this turbo have some advice? looking to run 19lbs. daily. Is this possible on 550s?

Call up SBR and talk to Mike, he should be able to lead you into making the right choice if youve decided on buying one of their turbos already...

What you run the 50 or 60 trim all depends on your goals, there both very streetable turbos.

I had a 50 trim in my AWD, it felt good, the 60-1 has more power capabilities though. Like larry said it depends on your goals. I ran 19 lbs on my 50 trim with 550's and it was fine, according to my egt's.

My goals are 375 to 400whp on pump gas and 11 sec. passes on pump if possible I know driver/tuning will have an impact on the end result.Just really would like to hear from people who have either had one or the other and what they thought of it.

I think you can get away with the walbro 190lph, but...you would need 660cc or 720cc fuel injectors to take full advantage of the GREEN, and some fuel management (S-AFC) would also be needed to control your fuel...

I see that you have a 2G in your wishlist. You might also want to think about one of the T28 variants from AGP or Forced Performance. IE the FP BIG28 or teh GT25 from AGP. You can check their websites for details. The T28 variants are more of a bolt on affair than the TD05H (16G) style turbos, although they are easy to install also with the install kit for hte 2G.

I also see you have an external gate on the mods list. With one of the T28 or 16G style turbos you will not need and external.

Injectors are not totally necessary with the turbos listed above, although you will no realize the maximum potential of either of them without injectors and some sort of fuel control such as an AFC.

The green will require larger injectors(650-720) FMIC and possibly a walbro 255 or comparably sized fuel pump. You will also need some form of fuel management safc-afr..ect. clutch and a datalogger would be good for tuning. if this is *not* your daily drive and you really want a turbo the size of a green i would research, call up FP and inquire about what supporting mods they recommend in addition to what has been and will be posted here. let the car sit until you can acquire all the required supporting mods.supporting a large turbo most times costs more then actually buying it.if thats what you are sure you want.

MikesDSM, I see you are new to DSM's and see that you still have a lot to learn so my suggestion is to stay with the stock turbo for now and try to squeeze out as much as you can out of that turbo. Once you got that maxed out then go from there.

Just jumping into a bigger turbo, especially a FP Green will just bring with it big problems and if your not carefull a broken engine and broken wallet. As the saying goes "walk before you run". Start small, like the stock turbo and slowly go up from there while learning as you go along. The stock turbo is still a pretty good turbo, good for some decent power.

there is no reason why he cant go directly into a big turbo setup, right from the start. with some guidance in tuning and a lot of research. there is enough documented information that he could buy everything needed to support a green, tune it and be absolutely fine. i don't know why people keep giving that advice. i went from a stock talon with a 14b to what i have now. and have had no problems learning as i went along.

I'm not saying he can't go and do all of that at once, I'm just saying thats what I suggested, personally from my experience with DSM's I would start from scratch and work my way up. Thats just my opinion. If someone has done a lot of research and has a good background with car from previous cars then I see no problem doing that. But from his posts it sounds like he's new to this stuff, nothing wrong with that of course. He didn't mention boost gauge, a/f gauge, EGT gauge, bigger injectors, afc, datalogger, and some other stuff that would be needed to run a Green turbo. I gave my opinion based on what he said in his first post.

just my $0.02....if you don't like it fine, its just an opinion.

16G is a fun, fast spooling turbo capable of mid 12's on a well setup and tuned car. I might suggest a big 16 though. It will favor race fuel, but can run quite well on pump too. Not too much more expensive, and also works well with an internal gate.

I have a 95 GST with the following modificatons

Walbro 190 fuel pump
550cc injecters
greddy intercooler piping
Blitz BOV
A'pexi S-AFC
Injen intake

I want to upgrade from the stock turbo what would you guys recomend?

- How to ask:
1. List your budget for the turbo and the supporting mods.
2. List your goals - 1/4 mile time, hp, and what the car will be used for (drag/road race).
3. Ask about specific turbos.
4. Title your thread specifically about the turbo you have a question on. No "which turbo should I buy?" titled threads.
