Which turbo will be sufficient for consistent 11 second times? I've recently decided on a big 16g, but will that be big enough to run 11s with supporting mods and decent tuning? Remember, this is for a budget street car, so any one purchase over $1k is tough. A big 16g will run about $700-900, which is about $300-400 less than the larger alternatives.

Of course, I'll need lots of practice to run these times, but, I just want to make sure that it's possible before the money is spent.

I have a 98 gst Spyder. I want to upgrade the turbo to something the is very streetable(daily driver). But give me at least a mid to low 13 second quarter time. I will buy all the supporting mods needed. I want it to be powerful and last a long time. If you need more info from me let me know. Thank You!!!!

Here are the list of mods I am wanting to perform (if anyone has any recommendations to add or swap around, I'm all ears!) :

Intake - HKS Super Mega Flow w/VPC adapter
Blowoff Valve - Blitz-SBOV
Intercooler - Greddy 24R
Engine - Greddy 660cc Injectors
Fuel - Venom Super Cool Pump
Exhaust - Greddy Power Extreme
Clutch - ACT Clutch Dual Friction
Electronics - Apexi AVC-R Boost Controller
Electronics - Apexi AVC-R Harness
Electronics - Apexi S-AFC Fuel Computer
Electronics - Greddy Turbo Timer
Electronics - Greddy Turbo Timer Harness
Gauges - Autometer Triple 52mm Pillar Mount
Gauges - Autometer Boost Pressure 52mm CoBl
Gauges - Autometer Oil Pressure 52mm CoBl
Gauges - Autometer Tach 52mm CoBl

My budget is of no concern right now, as I know I'm going to have to pay for decent parts if I want her to perform well and last a while.

I'm wanting to run decent times... I'd love to see something between mid-11s and low 12s, but I still need this machine to be streetable. I live in the mtns, so I need something with power for pulling the slopes! :D

What else will I need besides the stuff in the list above? I've been looking at the Turbonetics T3/T4 ceramic-ball hybrids, and it seems from this thread you guys approve of the T3/T4s?

I'm all ears, and any suggestions are welcome! Thanx in advance! :)

Why is the oil feed plug missing? That doesn't seem like a good formula for success, espcially if you have been spray painting that turbine housing.

THAT turbo is Sweet SH*T!

I have the oilfeed plug. I have not yet installed it in the turbo. And I remved the turbine housine from the center section, prior to coating it.(thats not spray paint. Its a high temp silicone coating. I have the same stuff on my exhaust manni, and it has lasted, without a recoat, for over a year now. It looks much better than the color "RUST", as is the case with every other turbine housing I have seen.)

Why is everyone posting mod lists in here? Do you not get the point of the thread?

I posted my question in the format that Ludachris asked for in the beginning of this thread; with the exception of a few mods, which I do not want to put in my mod list because they haven't been purchased yet. Sorry...

That's cool. I just don't get the mod list above with no question or input. Maybe he was showing us what turbo he had with which mods. But that doesn't really help without some comments, a track time or dyno numbers. I read it and I was like, "sweet, and the point is???"

I asked the question earlier in this thread with what set up are you
Getting your Dyno numbers? (ie: built internals or stock?)

You guys that were telling us about what size turbo is good for what...etc. and what HP you where getting.

I replied back are those numbers possible on a stock Block with just ARP's?

I have the HRC S20G and wanted to know if I could get my 400whp out of it with just ARP Head studs?.....

I've done 363whp.... on 24psi. - C-16 with EGT's at 1500

Can I turn the boost up to like 26psi... and still be safe?

-brian
We have a Big Domestic vs. Import Race coming up in Sept... (Cedar Falls Raceway in IOWA) and I was hoping to try 25-26psi. and around. 380-400whp which is why I asked the question of what did you do for your numbers.

BrnOutKing yes you can reach 400whp on stock internals. I know one person with 450+whp on stock internals.

brian, elite can get 400 out of it easy, they might have to run it closer to a 12:1 a/f ratio, but im sure they can squeeze another 40hp out of it?
my question is?...
are you slicks big enough?
hehe

i have a 95 GSX and my mods are: Blitz BOV, injen intake, turbo xs manual boost controll (the reason my stock turbo doesn't work) ,and a exhuast. my car doesn't run cuz my head gasket blew and my turbo cuz of overboosting. i'm still saving up my money with my eyes set on a greddy turbo. a shop i know quoted me $2000 for the kit. i know its not the fastest but its made by mitsubishi so i'm told the fit will be perfect. aslo the intercooler piping will fit without fabricaztion( i want to get a front mount but keep in mind that i'm still in the process of saving for my turbo). and aslo it comes with everthing you need right out of the box so you cant screw your car up by not haveing the right components. but i've heard that a ball bearing turbo is way better. i have to drive the car everyday on all types of curvy roads, and traffic. i saw the t3/t4 kit on the dsmtuners hompage but i'm worried that it doesn't come with everthing to just bolt on to my car and make it run. and also i'm told that my car would run slower untill i chagned my internals , which is somehting i would like to do but don't have any money for right now. i guess my budget is 2000 but i'd like to go cheaper cuz i could get it sooner. i mean i want to go fast but its not like i'm all about dragging. so is the t3/t4 good for a daily driver? or gthe greddy?is there some other turbo thats right for me out there provied i get a GOOD boost controller in the future. i'd really like a kit, and somthing i could put on myself without custom fitting or fab. to save labor costs and all that other ish. thanks guys

FP big 28. Or a 16G. The 16G would need an install kit. If you don't think you can do it yourself go down to garageSPL (right off Lake City way) and talk to Matt Ahl. He has a 90 talon AWD that runs mid 12s. I've known him for a few years, we did the engine swap on my 91 at his house.

Go with the Forced Performance big t-28 I just put mine on yesterday it spools just as fast as stock turbo but flows way more air. It's great for around town driving and can make alot of boost if you want it to. Did I mention that looks identical to your t-25 ( from the outside ) therefore it bolts in the same way your t-25 does. No fabrication required it comes with everything you need to install to( the turbo is all you need ). If your not set on drag racing this is the way to go. Now don't get me wrong either AWDs have run low 12's on this turbo so it can hold it's own at track to. Oh Yea it also only cost $750 if you give them your stock turbo and where else can you get a turbo ready to bolt up for 750. That's just my suggestion but check there web site I read more about it.

but you guys dind't answer my question bout ball bearing vs regular turbo. and i need a kit cuz i don't want to leave out a part and screw up my engine. so whata bout the t3/t4 does it require custom fab? like is it a pretty complete? ordo ou have to buy other stuff?
