Which internal wastegate will work? 20g turbo

Hey guys,

I bought a TD05 20g turbo and it turns out that the internal wastegate that come with the turbo doesnt work. I need to buy another one and was wondering if the stock one off of the 14b turbos would work as is or if there is modification needed.

I want to run internal.

Yeah i don't see why a 14b or 16g one wouldn't work.

The 7cm B16g housing will work. There are many people running that combo.

To get the wastegate that came with the turbo, or just about any other gate to work, you are either going to have to drill mounting holes in the compressor cover, or weld on mounting bungs.

If the 14b wastegate actuator from the dealer do I need to modify the bracket?

20G's were never intended to be used on DSM's, so there is no direct bolt-on actuator available. Anything you end up using will need to be custom-fabricated in some way, shape, or form due to variations in mounting brackets and arm lengths.

Hmm IC in that case, would the wastegate from my original (T25) turbo work? From what I read and this could be wrong, the 14b is better fitted for the mitsubishi turbos

No actuator is going to work without welding/drilling. On the other hand, just about any actuator will work with welding/drilling.

Not likely, due to the different mounting points on the cover. Not to mention the T25 actuator is only around 10psi, making 18-20psi about the max it will be able to achieve.

No one actuator is going to fit better than the rest- all are going to require some modification....but the object is to find the one that requires the least amount of modification, and that is usually the actuator found on 17C's- although it's a VERY weak actuator (7psi).
