Hey guys.. since i bought my 99 GSX ive been loosing all my power once i past 4500 rpms when i floor it... and it is due to a broken wastegate on my turbo. So im planning on getting a new wastegate to fix it. but i do have to ask, is it one wastgate fits all? and what is better? single port or double port? and recommendation beside external wastgate?

You have a T25 on your car....you don't really have choices when it comes to actuators except the one that is meant to be on the car. FP sells T25/T28 actuators with stronger springs, but that's not going to help a puny T25 hold more boost to redline.

Have you confirmed that the actuator is bad? Normally when an actuator goes bad it develops a hole in the diaphragm and doesn't open at all, creating an overboost situation.

So a T25 is what im looking for then? Do you know of any store that sell them? can you give me a link?
and yeah its that wastegate.. it does not open at all... it only opens when the turbo creates to much boost and releases... this is what i feel and what im told by the last owner who sold me the car

Hmm. You understand that there's external and internal wastegates correct? The wastegate is supposed to open at a certain psi so it controls how much boost the turbo creates. So then, your motor doesn't blow up. Could you describe a little more of what is going on. And if your profile of mods isn't completely filled out, do it! It will help us.

well im running a Evo 3 16g turbo on it and its like my wastegate doesnt work at all.
i know there are internal and extremal, and i have an internal and plan on replaceing it with a new one.
its like that wastegate has a mind of it own and open when i cant hold on the boost produce by the turbo. which is when i give it gas, then thats when it opens out of no where and i loose all my power. the only thing keeping the turbo from over boosting my engine is my reflash ECU.

Is that evo 3 an ebay knockoff? If it is that most likey is your problem they are terrible turbos and have the wastegate problems.

Sounds like you are pretty sure of what the problem is.

Do you mean the actuator isn't holding closed, I've heard of this happening when running higher boost with stock actuators, I thought someone made an adjustable arm to help, but can't remember who.
Heres a link to the stock one
Forced Performance Turbochargers: Stock 14b and Mitsubishi 16g Wastegate Actuator

And here is there MM flapper, I'm also sure they can get stock size replacements
Forced Performance Turbochargers: FP 34mm Wastegate Flapper

Also sounds kind of like a small boost leak. If you have not tested, you should, I'm always ammazed even when I am sure I got it all hooked up right, I find at least one leak.

yeah its just not holding anything no more... but im pertty sure its just that the wastegate has gone bad. thank you for the link and how would be the best way to check for any boost leaks? re-running that hoses and making sure they are in right?
