ok i am going to get a new clutch for my car. i was wandering which one i should go with. i was thinking of the act 2100. Dont think i want the 2600 because it is a daily driven car and will only go to the track a couple times a year. if there are some other brands you all would suggest let me know. i want a good streetable clutch for a cheap budget.

I have heard of the springs coming out before, seems like a few dsmers have had it happend but you need to also think about how many clutches act sells to dsmers. I'm sure more then 3/4 of the dsm world is running an act, you would see more problems if more people are using them. You dont hear alot about spec or exedy because there ran in evo and subies alot more. Either way ACT doest make great products and if it last its one hell of a setup.

Id still recommend act over any other clutch for a semi stock car or even a car with alot of bolt on's. This will be the first year I'm running an exedy in my car so ill post back how it works on a dd.

It seems to be hit or miss with ACT clutches. I have a 2100 (Wish I would've went 2600) and have not had any problems yet. It's got around 10k miles on it and I even used their TOB. Then again a member from a local DSM forum had problems with less than 10k and had a hell of a time to even get ACT to cover it on warranty.

What clutch do you suggest for a 2.3L with a fully ported and built head from BJ's cylinders heads, FP3 cams, HX40 with BEP housing, Full supporting mods Tuned by an AEM EMS? I'm in the middle of putting all the parts on the car right now and i dont want to just slip my clutch when im done. I'm pretty low on cash, so twin disk is not an option.

After reading this thread I think I am going to go with the 2600pp and south bend kevlar street disc. But where did you guys get the south bend disk? I didnt see it on south bends site. Part number?

Has anyone else had positive experiences with this clutch. Thanks!

Thanks turbosax. So the straight kevlar 1g disk will work with the 2600 pressure plate without any modification?

I got the ACT2100 and a Jun flywheel. It is starting to fail as in... not being able to hold the torque. If I had it to do again I would have gone with ACT2600. I think the ACT2100 almost had a lighter than stock feeling pedal. Next mod will be ACT2600 and resurfacing the Jun flywheel. If it can't be resurfaced then I will go with ACT flywheel. I spent a shitload of money on the Jun but if it is past spec then it'll hang on my wall in the office. I think that was one thing they said about the Jun flywheels was that they were pretty thin.

Hey;

I replaced my clutch at 45000, currently I have 70100 and I'm pretty sure my 2100 just broke. I'll get a chance to look over everything later but I've gotta sleep after I ask you guys If there's something i missed, is there a better clutch choice for my car? I just found the thread about some act's breaking early, but from what I skimmed they broke really early, so i don't know. I've had little sleep, so i apologize if this makes little sense, but I'm just trying to hatch a plan to repair my talon.

I'm not exactly sure what HP i will get at the wheels. im going to be running pump gas so i will be running as much boost as i can without getting to much knock. I'm hoping for around 25psi and around 450whp, but i dont really know what to expect. I have unlimited access to a brand new Mustang AWD dyno, so i will be spending a lot of time on it :) As for now, i found a good deal on a ACT 2600 with a 6puck disk, so im going to use that till it wears out.

I would say do it once and be done. Twin Disk PTT. The 2600 im sure will last, but for how long.. I wouldn't step up to the 2900 because I think those just push far to much pressure on the crank. (opinion) Yes the PTT is over double the cost, but after you start burning clutches left and right you will have spent that much in a matter of no time.:)

i would say im around your power levels, Im currently destroying a stock clutch that was new when i purchased the car. remember hp is not what is gonna kill your clutch, its torque and driving style. when the stock finally says goodbye im going to look into a SBR4000, i like it because the pressure plate isn't excessively heavy. my friend has destroyed slave cylinders master cylinders and two clutch forks with his act, so i would like to stay away from that.

ok i have a simple question i searched a bit with no luck. i have a 99 eclipse gs what clutches are compatible with my car. for instance would a clutch from a 94 work? awd compatible with fwd? turbo and n/t etc.

also what about flywheels whats compatible with my car? i know the 6 bolt and 7 bolt flywheels are different just like the awd and fwd is different. what i need to know is would a fwd turbo flywheel work on a fwd n/t?

No we use what we call a Modular clutch. If ya wanna go a different way you can get a fly wheel from a Dodge neon and use a non-modular clutch.

Clutch Kits - CI Motorsports
These clutch you have to get the Flywheel form the Neon

well what about machining a few lbs off of the stock one. would that be alright?
