ok i am going to get a new clutch for my car. i was wandering which one i should go with. i was thinking of the act 2100. Dont think i want the 2600 because it is a daily driven car and will only go to the track a couple times a year. if there are some other brands you all would suggest let me know. i want a good streetable clutch for a cheap budget.

Hey everyone . Just curious to see what the common concensus is .. I am puttin down 400+ Hp to the wheels and right now am on a Act 2100 with lightwieght fidenza flywheel.. Felt the clutch slipping the other day after a light launch and now it seems as if the clutch is slipping anytime im in major boost. Need some help from the pro's I was thinkin about the act 2600 but i odnt know whether or not to go with the 6 puck sprung hub or what.. PLease help me out and give me your thoughts

Your best bet is to go with the ACT 2600 street disc if you still want to maintain a daily driver.

I was gonna say don't buy an ACT 2100, but you already have that. Mine never slipped, it just exploded. Next up is the ACT 2600. I've always wanted to get that right leg bigger anyways. I'm somewhere around 380 w.h.p. but plan on being around 430 w.h.p.

You can try twin disc clutch. I just put Quartermaster on my car. Light padel presure. I love it:D

Great, I have a 2100.
Did it damage anything when it exploded? And was this at WOT?

act 2100 pressure plate and 6 puck sprung disk : 412 lbs/torque
act 2600 pressure plate and 6 puck sprung disk : 513 lbs/torque

6 pad sprung disk are very streetable, and this is the purpose of a sprung hub.

you can have these 2 combo with a street disk too but you will loose around 100 lbs/torque
with this disk

I'm AWD and putting down about 280awhp.
I'm not at your power level yet, but I soon will be.
I'm not affiliated with Competition Clutch or MAP, so with that said I'll give you my experience with CC's product and MAP.

I'm rocking a Competition Clutch Stage 4 sprung 6-puck with CC's Lightweight Steel Flywheel.
I got this set-up from MAP for a song.
This clutch flywheel combo is so streetable it's not even funny.
The only problem with 6-puck clutches is they can be a little noisy on Decel.

Just make sure and break it in per manufacturers recommendation.
Proper clutch adjustment is a must when dealing with real grabby clutches like ceramics...
I've done write ups clutch bleeding techniques in the "Tech Article" section and plenty of people have commented to me via PM how well it works.
If you want extra info on this, feel free to PM me.

^^^ those are torque numbers at the crankshaft right?

Great success and great streetability with the sbr3500 PP and clutchnet 6puck sprung hub with the act FW. Very nice feel. Slightly higher pressure than stock. Grabs when you want; slips when you want. No chatter. Can handle gobs of torque. You don't need the 4000 for such high power, but it's good to have it. The 3500 seams to do the trick quite well and is apparently about as strong as the 2600 PP. The act sprung hub 6puck disks have had several instances of exploding with not alot of power. . . Just a heads up. I don't know if they've revised the disks since then.

My Centerforce Dual Friction never had any issues hold the power I was making (410 whp/353 ft/tq street tune & aprox 30 more at the track) on street tires (when the car was fwd) but that was pushing its limits on drag radials (never slipped but could smell it after the run, with a good launch).

Since I'm swapping to awd, I'm doing the clutch at the same time. I picked up the Fidanza 4.3, which is a sprung 6 puck, very similar to the Competition Clutch Chris mentioned. I know a few guys who run it & have had really good luck with it, so hoping it treats me the same.

In a fwd you don't need an as "aggressive" clutch vs an awd, unless your running non street tires that will actually hook. The reason I stay away from the 2600 is the 7 bolt, & trying to keep the load on the thust bearings at min. With the 4.3 or the Competition clutch they use a more aggressive disk material instead of higher clamping force from the pressure plate, which IMO is a good thing. I don't have personal experience but have heard several say the 2900 actually has less pedal pressure (re-designed pressure plate?), which would also be a good thing.

Any of you fella's know who Tim Zimmer (Twicks69) is??? He's a transmission GURU, has been around DSM's for a LONG time, and is a friend of mine. Check this thread out and look at post #3:

I will be going with an ACT 2600 PP, Streelite Flywheel, and the South Bend Kevlar Clutch Disc to hold up well to the 400awhp I will be running in the future. For this summer, due to budget hinderneces, I will be running anywhere from 325-350 awhp. It should hold up like a champ.

I've done A LOT of research on my car, but when it comes to my car and I have a question that I need help answering, I would take Tim's word for it anyday.

Just food for thought. Good luck!

I would sugest staying away from the puck style disk, they are way to grabby, I've been racing now for some time, I've noticed that a organic disk will net better 60' times with out alot of driver imput IE feathering the clutch, It takes a better driver for a puck style clutch to net the same times because there is alot imput from the driver, this is my personal experance with my LS1 car's that I have owned RWD, I'm still new to the AWD game, and so far I am working on my 3rd clutch, first one was a CC stage 4 with a puck clutch, my best was a 1.79 60' with 12.89 et, that clutch took a crap so I changed to a ACT 2600 with street disk, with more boost and some tuning my new best was 11.98 with a 1.73 60' , that clutch had a spring come flying out of it :( so now I have a ACT 2900, street disk and a XACT flywheel, I've got ALOT more go fast part's now aswell incluiding a bigger turbo and link, hopefully be running on saturday and raced on sunday, I also have some 555R now some hopfully 1.6X is in the future, well see

Good thread, I can get ahold of an act2600/act street disk combo used for $125 or I was thinking of just buying an act 2600pp and clutchnet 6 puck sprung disk, anyone have any experience with that disk?

I liked my 6-puck, but it broke within a couple thousand miles. It was the Fidanza 4.3. I noticed no difference from even a stock clutch taking off, whether it was launching (other than it didn't slip or stink) or backing out of the garage.
The 4.3 should have had a stiffer pedal and more aggressive engagement. I know it did on 99gst_racer's car. maybe you had it set-up incorrectly?

I had a act 2100 6 puck sprung and it exploded on me in less than a year...I never tracked the car or launched it hard with minor mods...

i'm trying to decide which clutch kit ot go for. my stage 2 exedy are slipping and will be really bad soon. i have a light weight fidanza fly wheel too but i'm not even sure if i need to resurface it or not.. i'm thinking about getting act 2100 or act 2600...i'm not sure which one i should get for my set up and power goals...i'm hitting 265 whp and 269 trq at 14 psi. but i'm trying to hit 320 whp soon with more boost. anything is welcome...
