ok i am going to get a new clutch for my car. i was wandering which one i should go with. i was thinking of the act 2100. Dont think i want the 2600 because it is a daily driven car and will only go to the track a couple times a year. if there are some other brands you all would suggest let me know. i want a good streetable clutch for a cheap budget.

You can look at it this way. If you stay competely stock, an upgraded clutch will have a longer life than a stock replacement. Even though, clutches last a very long time (on a stock daily driver that isn't abused). The upgraded clutch will give you a better feel in the pedal, also. Only thing is that the upgraded clutch is going to cost you more than the O.E.M (unless you're having this done at the Dealership, then you're going to be paying WAY too much for the clutch/labor).

i got yah man.
and as far as getting it done... ive gotta do it myself. i figured itll be fun.. haa

You never know what you MAY want to do in the future. So I'd grab an aftermarket clutch like an ACT 2100. You can go a step up for the 2600 but if you get stuck in traffic and gotta shift a lot for more than 45 minutes your leg will start to feel the burn :)

Tom

PS: I saw in your profile you wanna get an injen intake as your first mod. I suggest you don't bother with that as your first mod because you will see no increase in performance. I suggest you do the free mods first Tech Guide: 2G 4G63t Upgrades: Stage 0 Power - DSMtuners and then get a boost gauge, boost controller, bov, then exhaust.

ill look into that..
thanks Tom.

Stock clutches are decent, but like Artago said "you never know what you might want to do in the future". I'd stay away from Centerforce's. I'm not saying they're bad, but every one I ever had got chewed up and spit out way to quickly. I'll tell you this much though. SummitRacing has an O.E.M stock replacement from RAM Clutch's (I think it was called RAM). I used a RAM stock replacement once and that bastard took every launch, drop, slip and beating I gave to it and it was STILL in great shape 25,000miles later when I took the motor out to retire my Spyder. And it was also the cheapest clutch I ever bought.

My stock clutch was gone at 60K miles with a T25. Go with a CFDF, or ACT 2100, either one is suitable for at least 300 whp, if you decide to upgrade.

i was just actually looking at teh ACT 2100.
i think thats teh one imma get.. thanks for teh input guys.
now i just need to decide which vendor to buy it from.

Shoot me a PM when you decide on what clutch you want, I guarantee the best pricing ;) Also, is your car a GS or GS-T? Your profile says GS-T but you're first post says GS...

I know alot of people run the ACT 2600lb clutch in their car. But ive heard some people running 2900lbs in their cars. Which one is better for daily driving? also what clutch disk should i pick? a sprung hub or non sprung and how many plucks if not a disk?

Oh by the way my setup is
wiesco .020 over
eagle rods
acl bearings
arp mains, connecting rods, and head studs
cosmetic head gasket
bc 272 with retianers
20g turbo
880cc injectors
Aem high flow fuel rail, and a bunch of other stuff, and i dont know how much power im going to make

2600 pressure plate and a sprung full-faced disk.

The 2900 pressure plate is overkill for most people. The 2600 pressure plate is plenty clamping force for the torque output of a 20G powered AWD car. And the street disk will give a nicer engagement and better streetability.

2900# has a lighter pedal than the 2600# FYI ;) I prefer the 2900# with a street disk, but a 2600# is plenty though and will be a tad eiser on your driveline during those hard launches

twicks69 ran an ACT 2600 and a Southbend disc and pushed over 600whp I believe. I'd say that combo would do, as well as make it a bit easier to daily drive.

IIRC he is on a stroker not a 2.0. A stroker doesn't see the rev's like a 2.0 does. I guess I am a bit biased as my last 2 act clutch's were a piece of crap. First one was a 2100 sprung street disc and one of the springs decided to come loose. Second was a 2600 sprung 6 puck and would not shift over about 7.5k which led me to having my transmisison rebuilt for the second time in less than a year(the synchro's don't take to well to grinding at over 7k)

OP give jack a call over at jacks transmissions. He can give you some advice from a transmission rebuilder on why not to go with a sprung hub clutch especially if you plan on having high rev's and want it to shift. Yes a twin disk is more expensive but it may save you money and time in the long run. This is completly my opinion and is only based on my personal experiences. Take everyones opinions with a grain of salt and make the best choice you can for your application.

You are correct that he's on a 2.3l.

It sounds like your problems with the ACT's were the discs. If you run with the Southbend disc, you aren't using the ACT disc anymore. Now, I can only go by what others have said (I have yet to install my 2600/Southbend setup), but it sounds like it's a solid setup and I haven't heard of any failures.

If you can afford an act clutch, then you can afford a used twin disc. I just picked up a brand new Exedy twin disc off ebay for $550 shipped. That is only like $100 or so more then an act clutch. Do some smart shopping and it will pay off.

+1, I agree, personally I would go with the twin disc

Felt the clutch slipping the other day after a light launch and now it seems as if the clutch is slipping anytime im in major boost. Need some help from the pro's I was thinkin about the act 2600 but i odnt know whether or not to go with the 6 puck sprung hub or what.. PLease help me out and give me your thoughts
