ok i am going to get a new clutch for my car. i was wandering which one i should go with. i was thinking of the act 2100. Dont think i want the 2600 because it is a daily driven car and will only go to the track a couple times a year. if there are some other brands you all would suggest let me know. i want a good streetable clutch for a cheap budget.

Ive had an act 2600 and I didnt like it, went out very quickly.. But I have been running a slowboy 3500 series clutch with a fidanza flywheel and the slowboy diff locker and wow. The car has never felt better ive never felt a hint of slipping its smooth engagement and nice street manners but ready as all hell to hold any wot i can throw at it.. Just my personal suggestion and when i get a little more heat under the hood im definitely going with the slowboy setup again

I have a 7-bolt motor, not a 6-bolt and there is nothing listed at maperformance.com in the way of a twin disc setup for it anyway....

Still give them a call you never know. Them guys are great I have bulit almost my whole motor threw them. Just think if you plan on keeping the car if you buy the FX400 and two years down the road you and you want to up the boost! If the FX400 will even last that long! Trust me I wish I would have bought a twin disk from the get go instead of messing with all the ACT BS:mad:. They are really not all that loud do a search on here there was a guy that took a vid of his.

here you go post 12http://http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/drivetrain-tech/314328-quartermaster-clutch-daily-driver-feedback.html

Building up a dead GSX with autox in mind. What clutch should I be looking for? I have act2600 experience from my 3000gt, had a act2100 in my old tsi...

2600 is too much beef
2100 was nice but building on a budget.

Use a stock steel flywheel to keep your momentum. You'll want a copper-ceramic clutch, most likely a 6 puck sprung to keep from overheating and losing it's grip. Stay away from organic discs, you'll burn right through them in autocross.

illeffekt vr-4 - Likely not going over 300ish hp, so I'd say torque will be under that too.

Thanks, mighta just saved me some money on a lightweight fly. How streetable are 6 pucks? I've never driven one but my old 2600 had a bit of chatter to it.

As long as it's a sprung 6 puck, it's not bad. I've dd my 6 puck sprung for 6 months now, once you learn to slip it to get going, it's fine. You can't slip organic clutches very much before they fade, the good part with the copper/ceramic material is that it can be slipped quite a bit without fading (they actually gain grip with more heat). Added bonus is that the copper/ceramic material will pull heat out of the flywheel to keep it from warping in any way.

Another quick one, lets say i get a 6 puck sprung ACT disc, can I use a stock pressure plate without any ill side effects? Or should I upgrade to a heavier duty one?

sorry for any sloppyness on this post. this is my first one. so if i do any thing wrong pl msg me with suggestions.
ok any ways
i have a 98 gst and dont know if i should go with a stage 1 or a stage 2 clutch. All that will be done soon is evo 3 or 6 fuel injectors and the boost turned up a little bit. What company and type of clutch should i get?

what is your goal hp wise?
do you still have the T2small? if you do, fuel injectors would be the last mod i would consider.
you need some sort of tuning device(safc, ecmlink,gm maf) etc. to control the fuel

if you must go through the process of getting a new clutch, id get a ACT 2100. very streetable clutch and i think its good til about 300 or so

i havent seen this question answered but which clutch is the better to go with? the act 2600 with street disc, fidanza 4.3 or 3.2. i am looking for good power to be put to the ground mostly street driving and track racing every once in a while. thanks for the help

My 2100 is starting to slip on some pulls and I was thinking about going with a 2600. But, I've been reading about the fidanza clutches and am leaning towards the 4.3 for this go around. Seems like any of them that have failed fidanza has been more than willing to replace. And it really doesn't bother me to pull a trans. I've done it way too many times before. Plus most of the ones that have failed looks to be the 3.2 that comes with the 4 puck sprung hub disc.

I'm going with Fidanza for the good customer service.

Im running a act 2600. I have had a few others and this is by far my favorite. It is hard for other people to drive because the throw is so short but it become easier and i have never had a problem with slipping and controlling the slip.

I have the 2900 with the 8.5 flywheel combo. Clutch is a little stiff but you get use to it after awhile and the throw it very short. I think I remember it saying it can hold 419lbs of tq but dont quote me on that. I would buy this clutch again.:thumb:
