ok i am going to get a new clutch for my car. i was wandering which one i should go with. i was thinking of the act 2100. Dont think i want the 2600 because it is a daily driven car and will only go to the track a couple times a year. if there are some other brands you all would suggest let me know. i want a good streetable clutch for a cheap budget.

I have the Fidanza 3.2 with the fidanza 8lb flywheel. It is great. I have had it installed for about 6k miles and it grabs on strong! Engagement feels smooth and it is not too heavy at all. It actually feels just right to me. Not too light not too heavy. I would purchase it again!

I will say that by only basis for comparison is the stock clutch and flywheel so you take it for what its worth...

I will vote for the 2600 with the street disc. Its good for daily driving, good pedal feel and also will hold 400 lb/ft of torque which will be more then enough if your goals are 350 hp but strong enough to go further on power and have that peace of mind and confidence that it will hold. I had this setup for a good while and loved it, I was reving it out to 8700 every chance I got soo it holds the revs well too. The only reason I switched (went to a 2900 w/ street disc) is because it was slipping from exceeding its torque rating...Now im good untill 490 torque which should be good.

DroppinBottom: Are you really running 12.9's w/ 429 hp? on AWD? is this current?

I would suggest the ACT 2600 with a south bend kevlar sprung disk. It will handle the abuse a heck of alot better than any other street disk, and won't cause the damage like a 4-puck or a 6-puck.

Agreed.

We have gone over this topic MANY times before. It would be beneficial for you to use the Search function a little more before posting a thread like this.

Here is one good link to a similar question, with the same answer:

Isn't a 4-puck street drivable, I dont see in that link anything about a 4puck.... I also figured it would last longer to being beaten up than a street disk. And it wont get glazed when it over heats. The car will be seeing about 8000 rpms.

I just read into these soutbend clutches.... I may consider one of these next time I do my clutch.

I have an ACT 2100 with a 6 puck sprung hub disc and I love it! It is rated for more torque than an ACT 2600 with a street disc.

I've had both a street disc and a 4 puck the 4 puck chatter everyone talks about isnt so bad when it comes down to it and the engagement is ridiculous even when going into first at about 1500 rpm you can feel the clutch just grab onto that flywheel it feels good.

break it in right though or you'll be sorry changing the clutch out again only after 500 miles like me...LOL

i always likes the sprung puck discs, street discs never felt like i wanted my clutch to feel espicaly on launches. and the chatter from a sprung disc isnt so bad, but i had a solid hub on my last car, and driving on the street the chatter and noise was terrible. so loud and bad that your average buddy that doesnt mod or race like we do, would think something was wrong with your car.

that set up kinda also answers your question about whats drivable on the street, almost any clutch is, the issue is weather its comfortable and worthwhile to you for how where and when you drive on the street. get stuck in traffic jam with a solid hub once and you will understand what i mean.
if your driving your car in areas with stop and go traffic, like crowded highways of city streets every day or on a on a very regular basis for whatever reason, a puck disc may not be worth it for you. iv seen my best friend burn through 5 pucked discs in 1 year cause of crap like that.

Does a lightened flywheels cause you to cruise at higher rpms?

Do 4-puck disks really destroy clutches? I'm thinking about getting fidanza's 3.2.

Hey everyone. I'm going to replace my clutch this week and ive been looking at the exedy stage 2 clutch for my setup (see mods). Please let me know what you think and if this is a good idea or if i should switch to a different setup. Thanks community. Alex

I agree with the above poster, but I would try an ACT 2600 pressure plate with a street disc. That way if you decide to upgrade in the future you wont have to worry about dropping the trans again to upgrade the pressure plate.

Act 2100 With A 6 Puk Ceramic Disc Dont Get A Street Disc Youll Regret It
Right, because what street-driven DSM owner doesn't like harsh clutch engagement and chatter while pulling out?

Puck discs have their place.....on the strip.

A puck clutch for a 16g?:nono: That is such an over kill. If it is only front wheel drive a 2100 will do fine, the tires will break loose before the clutch does (unless slicks). The new ACT2600 clutch from what I have heard is not as good as it used to be. I would look into an RRE clutch, or a competition clucth.

For a street car, a 2100 or 2600 pressure plate would be fine for most people. A street disc would provide better engagement than a six puck, especially if the car is just a quick daily driver.

i have the ACT 2900. it might be a lil over kill for you but might as well get it right the first time and not have to upgrade again. unless you dont plan on more hp but come on we all know how we are! :dsm: for life

+1 on the ACT2100 or 2600 (really depends how gnarly you want your clutch to be). Personally I'd go with the 2600, but that's just me. I don't mind stiff clutches.

i didn't see Fidanza 2.1 in a list hmmm..... Its more then 100 bucks cheaper,,,and it does a really good job, In my experience Fidanza is more softer, more usable on DD cars ;) ACT's problem is soft springs in a disk, which seams to pop out very often. The guys are saying, that they fixed that problem, but on my last 4 orders, all of them were fu*ked up :(.ACT 2100 costs 420 $$ and Fidanza 2.1 280$$.so for that extra cash if you are saved for an act 2100.you should get a nice Fidanza Flywheel ;) which is 200$ ;)

Fidanza Flywheel

Fidanza 2.1 Clutch kit

ACT 2100

And DON'T FORGET!!!! When you install the clutch, change a new Pivot ball and a new fork, and make sure u will use a OEM Throw out bearing ;)
